I just want to add a big DITTO to all the comments about Dee's taking command of the new thread and getting it up and running and 100% accurate!! What a huge undertaking and a huge thanks from this BC/YC newbie!! :worship:

They are running a test up on club level. The lounge will now be open with drinks and snacks all night long. So at 2 AM if you want a soda or iced tea, go for it! The lounge will still be closed during "change overs" but CMs are suppose to get you anything you need or would like during those few times that the lounge is closed for cleaning and change of items - JUST ASK! For those of you that are on club level, please, if you like this change, then make sure you tell a manager. Seek them out! Whether they are upstairs on the 5th floor or whether you need to find them in/around the lobby, make sure you let them know you like it. I have no idea how long this test period will last.

What a great change!!!!!!!! I hope that all of the CL lounges follow along! :wizard:

Hopefully they will still be offering in 31 days when we arrive. :cool1: I am early riser and DH is not except the day he has to take DS to TL for surfing lesson that start at 6:30am  He already asked where he can get coffee.:lmao: We will be sure to let manager know if it is.

If I remember correctly, when we stayed at CL last week the CM told us that coffee is available outside the lounge between 6:30am-7:00am, then the lounge opened at 7am. So, yes, you can get coffee on CL at 6:30am.

EDIT TO ADD: Oh, he needs to be at TL by 6:30am. For Club Level guests, there are coffee pots and all the necessities to make coffee in your room, if need be.

Didn't see the answer as to if this test is running in the Yacht Club as well. We will be there next week, :woohoo: so I hope it continues. . . .

Same resort, same management, same everything except the decor. SAB might be a few steps closer to YC. BC is a few steps closer to IG. BC has Marketplace. YC saves a few steps to the shuttle boat. Really gets down to being in the BC which might be a little lighter and a little noisier or the "dark side" with a little more quiet. Oh, by the way, with the BC you have a 50/50 shot at a full balcony while the YC you are almost certain to get one if that is important to you.

Thanks for this info. I guess I'll write down these little differences and we've all vote, LOL. It's win win either way. Thanks!

Can I add a ditto lol? :thumbsup2 Thanks Dee for the thread and all the info. Teena, my DH is going to be psyched to hear he can get coffee earlier than 7 am!

And thanks for the pictures of the kiddie slide! My girls are going to love that.

Someone mentioned hot tubs...is there one at the QP @ YC? I am thinking not, but never hurts to ask.

Can't wait. A little over two months until our trip :cool1:

thanks. I am sure he will be able to find something. He can smell coffee from a mile away. :lmao:

Live from the yacht club! *Having a great trip! *Love the hotel :). The resort delivered strawberries and a big white chocolate Mickey as a gift for our 10th anniversary. So sweet! *They also gave us buttons and everyone says happy anniversary and what reminds me I'm at Disney is that every time it sounds sincere! *

Crowds haven't been bad. *And since this is our first summer trip it was a welcomed surprise. *We went to extra magic hours at mk yesterday and had ridden 7 rides by 11:00. *It's hot of course but we expected it being august.*

We had in room dining one night and it was great. Were planning to try cape may tonight.*

Room location is nice on 4th floor have view of courtyard and were able to see the mk fireworks through the trees last night.

Excuse any errors typing away on my iPhone while my husband rides rip ride rock it. :)

I can't wait to join you! Sounds like a magical trip so far....have a great time!

Thanks for the info regarding club level, Teena! It's all part of this thread's conspiracy to get our family to try CL next trip instead of standard. :)

Happy Anniversary, bean bunny! Thanks for the live report, and keep enjoying!

Can a microwave be requested in the room at the Yacht Club? I am getting a cm saying that we cannot request one but she didn't seem too sure herself.

I know that I have read they are available at the Polynesian but haven't paid attention if they were available at other resorts. Since the YC doesn't have a food court we don't have that option

Thanks

Yes. Once you check in, just press housekeeping on your phone and ask for one to be sent to your room.

We are currently booked at the Polynesian (club level) for our December trip (9-15). It's me, my husband and our three-year-old son (soon to be 4 by then).

Anyway, we booked the Polynesian for one reason: monorail and the proximity to the Magic Kingdom. But I've been very, very worried about reports I've read here, and elsewhere, about room condition at the Polynesian. Some pictures I see look very nice (but not great) but others do make it look very beat-up and, I gotta' be honest, if we pay $500 a night I'm expecting better than Motel 6 upkeep.

I've never stayed at a Disney World Resort and we haven't visited the "the World" for 15+ years, but the last time I was there, near Christmas too, I said I'd want to stay at Beach and Yacht Club because it looked so lovely. Popping into this thread and reading the rooms were recently renovated makes it VERY tempting and I'm thisclose to switching our reservations.

Swimming probably won't be a big issue since it will be December and we're warm-blooded Southerners (with a backyard pool of our own), so 75 degrees is NOT swimming weather for us.

My fear is that with a young one much of our time will be spent in the Magic Kingdom and we'll regret being away from the monorail. (Did I mention my son, a train freak, is also dying to ride it? Seriously he asks DAILY about the monorail ... and at this point he's only seen it in pictures.) And it's likely Epcot may hold the least appeal for one so young. How long does it take to get from Beach Club to Magic Kingdom and by what means?

We will have a rental car, but I was hoping to use that only occasionally. My son, an early riser, does not nap (and hasn't for YEARS already) but we will definitely need mid-day breaks to (hopefully) prevent overload and cranky explosions and we'll probably be done for the day (sleeping) by 9, at the latest, just about every night. So, umm, "nightlife," is not required. ;-)

So, you guys are the Yacht and Beach Club experts, would we regret switching? I mean, I think Yacht and Beach is much more my husband and I's style (to me the Polynesian looks very Brady Bunch) but, let's face it, this trip is mostly about our son.

All advice appreciated! And, yes, I know it's a (very rare) vacation and I should just relax and enjoy it and I swear I will ... Once I get it all planned and finalized.

I'd switch to the Grand Floridian myself. As much as I'd like you to come over to the BC, I think since you are there for your son and will be at the Magic Kingdom most of the time and since he loves trains, I'd do the Grand. We loved it there when we stayed there as a family ... 5 trips total. And it's beautiful at Christmas time. Make sure you bring him over to the YC for a visit to see the train that is set up in the lobby and then hop over to the BC to see our chocolate gingerbread carousel in the lobby.

It was a busy day at the BC again today. Looking forward to meeting all the disboarders checking in tomorrow too!!

Don't forget to pack your rain ponchos. It's been raining every single day at least once.

still raining?!?! The rain didn't bother us, it was the thunder and lightening in the afternoons that drove us out of SAB. My daughter LOVED it there!!!

Can anyone give me information about tipping CMs on CL? Is it allowed? Should I plan to tip only housekeeping? Is turn down service a different person? Do I tip him/her? How do I know who it is? Thanks for your info - this is our first time at BC and our first time at CL. :goodvibes

At WDW, only housekeepers, bell services and valets (of course servers too in restaurants) are allowed to accept CASH tips. Concierge CMs, front desk CMs, recreation CMs, etc. cannot accept CASH tips and if they do and are caught, they will be terminated immediately. However, they can accept gifts including gift cards valued up to $75.00. Lots of guests bring candy and other items from their home state. Others give out all kinds of gift cards (Walmart, VISA, gas, Disney, restaurants, airlines, etc.). I received an absolute beautiful vase recently that a client brought all the way with them from their home. It was made locally where they lived. Hope that helps and gives you some ideas.
