We loved coming to WDW in December, January, February, except for the packing. You really have to be prepared for hot, warm, cool and cold.

Those are our typical months (along with early March) and our suitcases are always full! I was just mentioning on another thread that we have everything from jeans and fleece to t-shirts and shorts. But I just can't bear to bring actual coats - we do layers (with fleece as the heaviest) so that we're prepared for the temps that seem to change so dramatically during the course of just one day. We're lucky enough to still have the stroller with us to tote all the unneeded layers! But not for long . . .

Is it unusual that I didn't receive a folio of my resort charges before I "checked out"? Didn't really give it a thought, as we were leaving at 6:30 in the morning, but they didn't give me anything. (nothing on door, under door, etc.) Guess I should have asked, but just assumed all was taken care of and was really just worried about getting back to airport not thinking about the hotel.

If you were leaving that early, it's likely that they simply had not yet gone out. When I checked out last Sunday, they were going around hanging them at about 7.

If you still want one, the simplest thing to do is to call the resort, ask for billing, and have them mail you a copy. It's no problem.

As far as not receiving notice about the pool being down, notice is sent to people who book through Disney Travel or on-line on Disney's website. I'm sure a few slip through the cracks but we really try hard to get notice to everybody ahead of time. If you used a travel agent, AAA or something like Expedia, they would get the notice, not the guest. Whether or not the guest would receive notice from AAA, Expedia, etc. is up to AAA, Expedia, etc.

December swimming is hit or miss. I remember sitting at the Candlelight Processional in December and watching the CMs in the choir faint from the heat. Then one year in December watching the Candlelight Processional, we had on our winter coats, hats, scarfs and actually took blankets to wrap ourselves up in. We loved coming to WDW in December, January, February, except for the packing. You really have to be prepared for hot, warm, cool and cold.

I DID book through, Disney Travel, that was what was so frustrating! When I read it here I called IPO right away (we were staying CL) and they confirmed the closure. I never did get a letter or e-mail. I'm just glad I was able to find out BEFORE our trip, not at check-in.

Thanks for the info. about Dec. weather! I've read lots of DIS threads about the huge temperature swings of Florida in Dec., so I'm really glad we're flying Southwest! I don't usually check more than one bag for our family of 5, but will need to change that for this trip!

I'll throw in a mini review from our trips this year! Brown Derby is my new favorite restaurant at WDW! We avoided signatures for a while because the youngest of our three boys was not really ready for them before this year. But we ate at Brown Derby twice this year - once for lunch in March, and then for dinner in July. Both times, the service was great (even better the second time) and the food was outstanding. I usually order appetizers and salad for dinners (entrees are too much food for me.) So I really liked the scallop appetizer and the tuna appetizer. Of course, the cobb salad is also good, and the sangria was yummy. The grapefruit cake is a really amazing dessert - but only if you really like grapefruit and are prepared for a sweet/sour taste.

Chef's is another favorite. It's our new arrival day lunch tradition - did that twice this year, and plan to do it again in February! We particularly enjoyed the quiche, french onion soup and mac and cheese. Our pickiest eater loves the burgers on the kids' menu - and he's a tough critic! We always make an ADR at lunch to see Remy - which is a big draw for our boys. But we would continue to go there even if Remy doesn't stick around.

Hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

I actually booked an ADR for Chefs on our arrival day so we will be following in your tradition! I think I have it timed so we will be able to see Remy. Also have Cape May breakfast booked one late morning (after evening EMH at MK). DH and I are doing the Queen Victoria room at V&A one night so I kind of figure that all other meals will really be for the kids as nothing else will compare for a while.

Thank you!! The SAB slide will be hard to beat for our boys, too. But like you said, the legal "pool hop" is a great opportunity! Did you have to wait long for the golf cart bus? I was wondering whether we would walk over or take the bus. Although after all this thinking about the Luna Park pool, it's possible that the SAB slides will open by the time we arrive on February 7!

I don't know if I'll be on any water slides in February, but our boys have been known to be out at the pool when the rest of the world thinks it's too cold! If I am, the longer and slower BWI slide sounds good to me![/QUOTE]

They told us about a "shuttle" at check-in and we looked for a regular bus but never saw one, so asked at the pool one day. They told us that it was a golf-cart and when we were ready to go to BWI to just ask a lifeguard. They had walkie-talkies and signaled the driver. It was pretty much on request. The only wait would be if you decided to go over right AFTER the cart left. Then you'd need to wait for it to drop off the first set of people and return to BC. It picked up right outside Hurricane Hanna's. When they were ready to leave BWI, they just asked another lifeguard and the cart came to pick them up! It was pretty quick and dropped them right by the BWI pool area, I believe.

Thanks for the additional detail - that's even better than I thought! When I read the word "bus," I was thinking about something out at the bus stop in front. This sounds much better.

1 week from our first stay at BCV. We lucked out and got a 1br villa for the F&W festival. We usually have not been able to get BCV or BW with our DVC points at 7months for F&W but this year we made it. Looking forward to it after reading all the good info in this thread.

Sounds like a fanatstic room and restaurant lineup! I would appreciate any feedback on Brown Derby, Cape May, Chefs, Kouzzin, and Yachtsman in particular but would enjoy hearing about all of your experiences. Have a great time!
You Got It I will let you know what I experience. Thank you for your good wishes, I have waited seven years to get back to the World.

I recently ate at Brown Derby and it was excellent. Cape May's dinner buffet is our favorite at WDW. Yachtsman is where we sometimes go for an anniversary or special occasion. Kouzzin has a unbelievable pancake for breakfast ... orange flavored with blueberries and ganola in it. Yum! As far as dinner at Kouzzin, guests are raving about their seafood stew.
oooooh Teena you just made my day, am going to have anniversary dinner at Yachtsman, Breakfast and dinner at Kouzzina, lunch at Brown Derby and the dinner buffet at Cape May. You are the expert so I feel like I really made great choices. Thank you.

I can tell you from personal experience we went in Dec 06 and we wore sweatshirts most of our trip. The day we traveled to Disney from Fort Lauderdale a front came through and dropped the temperatures dramatically (also did it in November 08 on us). In Dec 07 we were roasting and had a pool afternoon and we wore shorts the entire trip.

What I am hearing from everyone is making me so excited the next two days before I leave are going to drag out forever. I really want to try the Grapefruit Cake at Brown Derby and the Mac and Cheese at Chef's.
Thank you so much for your input.

You CAN help! Tell us what you think, and what else is good, when you return! I'd love to hear more about Yachtsman and Cape May! They are right there, but we've missed them the last couple of trips.

Have a great time, and hope you enjoy your grapefruit cake!

Ok wanted to book a massage I has used the GF before for my husband and he loved it but I thought if the one in the hotel was good I could use that one and there wouldn't be wasted travel time but I want it to be worth it and where are prices ?

Here is a link to the BC spa/massage services and prices. Suprised DW on our last trip and she loooooved it. Got me some serious brownie points!:thumbsup2

I can give you a quick review from last week if you would like.

Yachtsman: I was a bit nervous about this one since I was starting to read some bad reviews but kept it anyway since DS wanted to eat there. We are SOOOOO glad we did. We had Yun for our Cm and she was fabulous. DD is picky eater and she even went to Capt. Grill to get carrots and cucumbers for her for app. We were never wanting for anything the whole night. We had shrimp cocktail apps, best in a long time. DS didn't like the lobster bisque but he thought it would be more like chowder. I tasted it and it was creamy and wonderful. We all had the Filet which you could cut with a fork. Everyone's was cooked perfect. The Pistacho trio was a favorite for dessert but I loved the creme brulee. DD didn't care for the white chocolate puzzle. Yun brought me out a bday card signed by the characters, which she also signed and had my family sign since "they were just as important as the characters." We enjoyed our dinner so much the we changed our ADR at Flying Fish for our last night to Yachtman's and had an equally good dinner with our CM David since Yun was on vacation. Planning to go back in May.

Calf. Grill: We had 2 ADRs here during our trip, once for my birthday and the other for Thursday night. We watched Wishes from inside at our table (we were lucky enough to get window seats each time:banana:) and once for the deck, can't beat the view. First time, we had a family of 10 with 4 children under 4 sitting next to us and literally running around and throwing rocks from the planters around the dining room apparently they heard heard the saying, "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." :rotfl: Luckily, they left shortly after we had our apps and Jason our CM was very patient. Flatbread, sushi and shrimp apps were very good, DS's flatbread was burnt a bit. We had Filet each time, it was so good, I really couldn't order anything else. :lovestruc Desserts were wonderful as well. 2nd night we had 2 celebrity sightings, Holly Madison from Girls next door sat 2 tables away and next to her was one of the finalist from last years "next food network star".

Highly recommend both.

Via Napoli, great apps and pizza but extremely slow. 2 hours for lunch.

Tutto Italia: Food was very good for dinner but we were in the small side room so didn't get the whole experience. Our CM wasn't that great, not very friendly and kind of unattentive.

Kouzzina: we switched our Whispering Canyon breakfast for this one so we could just walk over from BC. At 9:30am, the place was almost empty. :confused3 DH & DS got the American breakfast and it was very good, I got chibatta french toast, yummy. DD was able to get Mickey waffles and side of eggs since we were on deluxe dining, the CM let her get adult breakfast. Would go back again.

CM Breakfast: this was on our mNSSHP night so we slept in for 9:30am breakfast. There was a 20 min wait to check in then another 15 min wait to have picture taken with Mickey. He no longer visits the tables, only Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. So by the time we were seated, it was almost 10am. Food was not the best and some of it was cold. Cm did bring me card for bday signed by the characters with a cupcake. I think I got aobut 12 during the week. :yay: If we were paying OOP, I would definitely skip it since it would have cost us $93.

Cape May: Sorry Teena, this was our least favorite of the week. Granted we had eaten mostly signature and family was spoiled but we really didn't like the selection on the buffet, even the crab legs were cold. Some of the items like the meat and salads were good but it wasn't for us. The desserts were good but the same as we had on CL except the lava cake so kids weren't impressed. We were seated in the small room to the right when you walk in and I think that had alot to do with the feeling for the night. Might have been an off night, might consider it again but would rather eat at Yachtman or maybe try Capt. Grill.

Hurricane Hannah's: What a surprise this was. On last day we had extra credits so we grabbed lunch at the pool and DH & DS raved about the juicy burgers & fries and DD said it was one of the best hot dogs. Plus they let us wait to get our Mickey Ice cream bar until we had eaten so they didn't melt. Great use of credits especially on a pool day. ANd the kids meals are served in a beach pail, BONUS.

Hope these help those going soon. Again, just my experiences.
