Thanks for all the good travel wishes! My kids had a total meltdown last night but woke up bright and cheery this morning. I'm not sure if they're more excited or I am. We're leaving the house around 10am, dropping the dog off at the dog sitter, and then driving 90+ minutes to the airport. We never got our DME tags so that adds an extra step before getting to BCV but we'll be fine. I think we'll arrive too late to see Teena but we'll catch her tomorrow!!!

I'll have a computer and plan to access the internet so I'll try to update periodically. My kids go to bed early so there should be some quiet time in the evenings.

Amanda

Safe travels and have fun Amanda!

Unfortunately, there is no formal meet set up for the weekend. Only a few people replied, and with the likliehood that some of those families might have an unexpected change of plans, be delayed at a park or whatnot, there were not enough people to justify a meet.

Definitely stop by and say hi to Teena and I'm sure she would introduce you to any other DISers if they are around.

Have a SUPER trip!!!

This thread has been so active. I am trying to keep up with it since we returned from our vacation last Sunday. I thought it was great that Teena included 'flat' natebenma in our Meet photo. Wish we could have met in person!

Thanks for starting the new thread. The Y&BC thread is such an active and friendly one. :)

I totally agree with your reasoning. Sounds like you made the right choice to switch to CL and do the regular dining plan!

Thank you Teena~ :goodvibes I'll be calling in a few moments; Perhaps you can help me with my room request location:
I will have a garden view room CL....
I was just wondering if I reqiuest a room close to the lounge, is that still fairly close to the outside ammenities ie ) pool/busstop/boat dock, etc??
(I don't mind a small walk, as I have stayed at AKL....and some of those rooms can be a small hike :lmao:....of course I've been lucky and not had one of those rooms) ....WHEW!!!
HOWEVER, I am wondering staying CL at the BC what the "room walks" are like there!???
Thanks for your help! :)

Hi Everyone,
We just returned yesterday from our 6 day stay at the Beach Club, and it was FANTASTIC!!! I am so jealous of all of you getting ready to go. I wanted to post updates while we were there, but we had a little computer trouble.

As I posted before, we had some serious pixie dust on our arrival...Brett greeted us by name at the door, we were like, "huh???" and let us in on the good news that we were upgraded to Club Level for our entire stay! Teena was right there to greet us as well....it was quite a welcome!! He brought us up to the fifth floor where we were blown away by the staff and the service. He gave us a tour of the lounge, let is in on everything that was going on, and brought us to our room, which was ready....Full balcony with a spectacular view of SAB and the Boardwalk! Talk about heaven.

We definitely made good use of the lounge. The breakfast offerings were great, love those eggs, and having coffee ready at 6:30 am was perfect as I am an early riser, love to sit on the balcony before the heat arrives and take in the view. It was defiinitely a little crowded, but we usually were able to find a seat. We loved those chips and dips in the afternoon, and of course the hot offerings before heading out at night. We had: scallops in bacon, egg rolls, crab rangoons, and chicken skewers on the nights we were there. Plus of course the wine, the beer, and all of the drinks and other snacks. The lounge staff was VERY helpful and VERY friendly.

The BC itself was even more beautiful than I remember from our last trip four years ago. The new lobby is gorgeous...very rich looking, love the colors, but casual and comfy at the same time...(I did take lots of pics for natebenma, so if you still need some, let me know and I'll pass them on). We found all of the lobby areas, restrooms, pool areas, to be spotless and very well maintained. I do have to say that the hallway outside of our room was always a flurry of activity with housekeeping...we always had to dodge many carts on our way to our room. Our room was immaculate, and believe me I check those things (and yes, I'm embarrassed to say I checked for bed bugs!). It was cleaned by 10:00 am each day. We recieved three towel animals: an elephant, a Mickey, and something else we couldn't figure out...LOL!

SAB was also fantastic. They were definitely checking keys and we saw many people turned away. We are morning rope-droppers, so we returned to the resort by 1:00 each day and headed to the pool. We had to search a couple of times for chairs, but always found some. PET PEEVE ALERT: if you are leaving your chair, could you please take your wet towel and return it in the bin instead of leaving it on the chair so we aren't wondering if it's taken or not? I think half of the lounge chairs had crumpled up towels on them, with no obvious signs of people sitting there, but you hate to take it just in case. During our entire stay, we only had one afternoon of brief showers, and during this time, they closed SAB for one hour, and cleared off EVERY towel, so it was a free for all when it opened, hooray!

I have to tell you about the transportation. It was a running joke a couple of days into our stay how we NEVER waited for a bus, boat or monorail. On our last night, we missed the bus after MK closed so we had to wait, but other than that, every single thing was either there waiting when we arrived or was there within 5 minutes, I'm not kidding. I know we were totally lucky, but it was really funny.

Believe it or not, we never made it to Beaches and Cream. Both times we went the wait was too long, so we did something else, which was fine.

I will tell all of you that are headed there this week that the parks were definitely getting much more crowded as the days went on...it didn't impact our touring since I am a huge planner, but I felt bad for the people showing up to the parks at 10:00 who had to wait in the long, long, lines and the scorching heat, and I do mean scorching! GET THERE AT ROPE DROP and get those fastpasses...they are life savers. It makes all the difference. We went to EMH at MK on Tuesday, and by the time the park opened to regular visitors at 9:00, the standby for Space Mountain was 45 minutes. By 10:00, the fastpasses for Splash were already in the afternoon. Yikes!

Oh, and one other thing...apparently the new online dining reservation system has really impacted the availbility of ADR's. As you all know, people are making many, many ADR's and not cancelling. I heard from the Club Level staff, as well as the hostesses at two restaurants, that they are encouraging people to walk up, as so many people are not showing up for their ADR's. Thought that was a good tidbit of information...

I'm going to post some other observations about our trip in general on the trip reports board, so I'll post that link when I get around to it. It's laundry day!!

natebenma, didn't get your PM until the day we left, so I never got your photo, so sorry!

Let me know if you have any questions....

~~Linda

Linda~ Glad you had such a great trip!!! I know I can't wait for our Nov trip...and thankfully it won't be THIS hot!! I am in a hot & humid area of Texas and I know how hot Disney was in the summer on our family vaca's...so I skip it!!! But,... I am glad you managed to get in early and get things done!!! Thanks for the update on the BC..can't wait to see pics!!!! Oh, and yeah, the Beaches & Cream is always crowded....even during value season we have had to skip it a few times.

Thanks for the great report! So glad that you had a super time!!! That's a really good reminder about the towels.

No problem about the photo. I will set someone else on that crazy mission! And I think I am set with the great lobby photos from siouxi31. But if you do have a photo/photos for the album I PM'ed you about, I would appreciate those when you have a chance.

Welcome back and thanks again for the helpful feedback!

HI Kerry- thanks for the kind words. Glad you guys did not mind "me" crashing your meet. I really was thinking about you all and wished I could be there!!!

I'm glad I was able to update the thread and info. There was a great starting point in place, I just needed to upload the missing photos. Since I took approximately 2,500 pictures on my July trip:rolleyes1 it wasn't a problem finding a few to post, and everyone has generously contributed the ones I didn't have!!!

Did I forget to mention that we are going to YC with no kids in a few weeks?!:woohoo::yay: If you can't tell, I am beyond excited!!

This made me smile... :teeth: You and your DH will have a fabulous time.

Linda - sounds like your trip was truly magical! :goodvibes

Have a great trip Amanda! I miss BC (and Teena and Pete of course!) so much already and we just came back home on Sunday!!

We miss BC too - of course Teena. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Pete in July, he is really great.

Best wishes to all arriving at Y&BC!!

I can't wait to go to the BC in October for 2 weeks! :yay:

Here's some really random questions, me & my boyfriend are staying in a CL room (as it'll be our 3 year anniversary whilst we're there!) & i was wondering how many CL rooms actually are there? & i can't seem to work out how far they stretch across the Resort on Google Earth, as you look up at the floors from outside the entrance do they stretch along the right end side? & the other side facing the lake/pool area? Can't see how many floors there are.

Thanks! :)

We will be at the BC Oct 11-17. It would be fun to meet another Diser:cool1:

:yay: It's all done....I upgraded to Club Level Garden view and downgraded from DELUXE dining to BASIC dining Plan.

I was a little sad to give up some of the signature dinners I was thinking of (Jiko and Yachtmans)....However, I am VERY happy to be staying club level and I easily found alternate favourites for our nightly TS restaurant. I am keeping our 2 TS Hoop De doo reservation, using a CS for our arrival day dinner to pay for it.
I will also pay out of pocket for one meal (probably try Beaches and Cream one afternoon).....but in the end I think I made the right choice for our vacation. I LOVE CL and can't wait to experience it at BEACH CLUB! :lovestruc
PS..... with a teenage son who has an endless snacking appetite, the lounge will come in handy, I am sure!!! :rotfl:

Glad you are happy with your changes. I think I would have done the same. We eat light for breakfast too and would love to take advantage of it.

Also just wanted to let you know that I just called and saved $200+ on our ressie. We had booked with a 40% offer code that I go in email. We added an extra night at the end that was outside the offer window so we had one night at YC Water view at full price.

I was on the Disney website and see an offer there for % of your reservation, so when I clicked on it, it was another 40% offer that included the last night. I checked it online to make sure that it worked, then I immediately called and got the reduction.

Glad you got it taken care of.

ETA: Never mind... I see your trip is in February! :yay: But, in case others had not already seen this change:

I think I remember you saying that one of the potential ADRs you intended to keep was for Le Cellier. I need to check your "ticker" but I am curious... are you going for lunch? I read recently that dinner is now going to be 2 TS credits starting in March 2011.

Hi everybody!
I am a longtime lurker on the Disboards and wanted to say how excited I am about my upcoming stay at the BCV!!:yay: I have been going to Disney since I was a child and this is our first time at the Beach Club. My mother, myself, and my two sisters are staying in a Studio room at the BCV and could not be more excited! We staying from September 10th to the 17th. Reading this post has really answered many of my questions and I now cannot wait till we finally arrive! Thanks for all the great infromation about the BC! :thumbsup2

Close to lounge would be great since you have to use the elevators (near lounge) to get to the lobby where you need to be to get to all the places you are going (pool, bus stop, boat dock, epcot).

Linda-your trip sounds wonderful!!!! Glad you had a great time! :thumbsup2 What an awesome room location-wowwy, wow, wow!

I actually got a text from a friend today who normally goes this time because of the lack of crowds and she was stunned to see a 100 min. wait for Test Track today at 11am! And here I thought it was crowded in mid-July with the Brazilian tour groups! LOL! Hoping it's quieted down next week when we're there since most of the schools up here in the New England area start the week of August 30th (except ours-day after Labor Day :cool1: )

Thanks for the tip too on the ADR's! While I'm not doing the DDP this time since my newly-turned 10 year old is considered an adult, I did make a couple of ADR's but of course they're hard to come by this late in the game and it was a spur-of-the-moment trip! :)

Looking forward to my very first Mother/Daughter trip!:banana: 7 days and counting!!!!:banana:
