Greetings from BCV!!!!
We arrived last night. My room requests were: Not 1st floor (afraid of critters and afraid of children escaping from patio) and Epcot view. After a very long and exhausting day of travel, I was rewarded! We're staying in a one bedroom villa with a great view of Epcot and we can see upper Illuminations. Our villa is nice. We're paying cash and still haven't had Mousekeeping yet (at 3:30pm) but otherwise all is good.
Saw Teena briefly today on our way to SAB. The pool is fabulous. I just wish the pool weren't quite so heated! ;) The process of obtaining (free) life jackets was a little annoying. I had to walk over the bridge to the pool shop only to learn that I had to cross back (with 2 children in tow) to get my room key and then cross back again. And, unlike SSR, we have to check-out life jackets each day (at SSR we could keep them for the entire stay). Not a biggie since they're free but something to know.
Having a great trip so far!!!!

Amanda

I just finished the initial batch of Y&BC DISer pins:

pinfinal.jpg

They are 3" pins, they are the same size as the birthday pins they give out at Disney. They snap together so once you get yours, you can open it and take out the paper and write your screen name on the paper and replace it in the button and then snap back together so no risk of getting sharpie on you. :cool1:

DrMomof3 - Glad the vacation got off to a good start for you. More importantly, that you made it with the kids and all is well.

Janloz - THANK YOU!!! I look forward to getting mine during my post-Thanksgiving week visit.

Just finished reading the thread by another DISer who didn't seem to have a great stay on the "dark side". It is great to read reviews by others that may not have the same perspective as those that have had a MAGICAL stay. It makes you appreciate the fact that we all have different points of views and can share those in a free and open way on this forum.

I am going to send yours tomorrow with a few extras incase you see anyone else from the thread while you are there.

THERE ARE A HUGE NUMBER OF DISERS THERE AT THE Y&B ... I hope somehow everybody gets to meet each other.

DW and I had a thought during our 2009 BC stay. Unfortunately, it was on the day we came home:

Ever watch the weather channel on the room tv? Notice that Walt Disney World is listed as a location. I don't think you can see this location anywhere else. I know I tried, and failed, to plug it in on their web site. So, we decided to take a photo of the 7 day forecast on the tv, right before we left. From now on, I think it will be something we do right after arriving into the room. Wanted to share the idea with our YC, BC, and BCV friends.

I've got two orders already for pins to be at the front desk when they arrive. Keep PMing me ... just make sure you give me at least two weeks notice. Thanks!

We had another Diser I talked to yesterday who loves the resort but was having a horrible time with bus transportation. I asked other Disers I met today if they were experiencing trouble and so far nobody else did. I feel so bad for them though. One of my managers FINALLY got someone from Transportation to talk to them. Unfortunately it is not a problem we can fix at the Y&B. We can't get buses dispatched but of course we really do care and we try to help by attempting to get an answer as to why this happened to this guest. We're doing a few other things ourselves at the resort to help ... I'm so frustrated because at least at Y&B I can get results myself, and I can't do anything about the darn buses unfortunately. I totally understand though. We had a few bad bus experiences while staying at the GF and it definitely factored in as to whether we wanted to stay there again. We did decide to go back because I decided the same problem could occur at any resort ... it was not resort specific. It was just a problem with the Transportation Department, not the resort itself.

Weather.com has Disney World as a location that you can set for temperatures you are intersted in. In fact it is one of the "suggested" locations to set.

Hi Teena - I asked a quesiton up thread, but I think it got lost in the mix and calls to the WDW call centre aren't helping. I'm hoping you can answer my question.

If I want a club level room with views of the Boardwalk, which room do I need to book? I thought it was CL Deluxe, but reading reports, those don't seem to all look towards the Boardwalk.

Thanks.

Janloz -- the pins look great!! thank you so much. :thumbsup2

There is a post on the resort section of someone who left the Yacht Club and moved to the Poly due to a few issues (including transportation). So it may not be isolated right now.

The worst time we ever had with the buses was when we stayed at the Poly the few days before Thanksgiving. We gave up with resort transportation and used the TTC as we were right by it.

We had no issues with buses at GF last year.

I'll be at YC with DD 10/7-10/11.

Correct me if I am wrong because I have never stayed in an Epcot deluxe resort before......

I have booked a deluxe CL room. Now, all of these have lake views I believe (and therefore a boardwalk view), is that correct? Don't all BC water view rooms have a view of the boardwalk area?

That is what I had thought, but some of the pictures posted appear that the windows are on the "sides" of the building and look more towards the Yacht Club/Stormalong Bay.

I started out following this resort on the last thread and have made the transition with everyone. There's a plethora of information that I've been lucky to have taken in-- questions that I haven't even thought of have been answered here (and on the last thread). I've second guessed myself a few times and I think I mangled my room request, but at this point, I'm so pleased to be counting the days and all the information that I've been able to take in.

I did however come up with something that I'm hoping I can get a little direction on. I'll be checking into the BC this Friday and didn't buy tickets since I've got Park Hoppers with no expiration dates from a few years ago (my DH is watching a video he shot when one of my DS's was 3 -- he's now 8!). All have a hand written note that I have 10 days on each of the cards (there are 4 of us). I have a funny feeling it can't be 10 days and am now starting to second guess myself on if there are any days at all on the cards...

We arrive mid morning Friday. Our only objective is to hang out for the day at SAB (From the last thread, I bought clear inner tubes for the boys to use, now I'm thinking that they might not have been a good decision).

At some point in the day, is there somewhere I can go to check out the number of days I have on my old cards? I sent my DH to the local Disney Store to do the check, but he was told that it can only be done at the parks. Is there anywhere to do check the days on the cards right at the BC?

If that's not an option, can I walk over to the Epcot entrance near WS and get this looked into before we really begin going to the parks on Saturday? Anyone have any suggestions on what to do if our days are shorter than what we think we need (probably 5 days; we've got 2 Harry Potter fans).

It's our first break in 2 years. I have my own business, and between that and giving to my boys, my life has been ruled 7 days a week. I've quietly lived off of everyone's enthusiasm on this thread to get me through the summer and to that I say thank you, I've had some personal set backs that seem just a little smaller from all the good will I've found here.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer some guidance!

You just need to book a waterview and then request a Boardwalk view. That's the best you can do. Most of the waterviews have a view of the Boardwalk so you have a great chance of getting that. When you check-in, just go to your room, if the view isn't the Boardwalk, ask the concierge if it's possible for a change to a room that has a Boardwalk view. It's not guaranteed of course but the room assignors will try to meet your requests.
