2010 news from the Magic

Is that per person? I looked at Princess and RC as well. For a similar cruise, for a family of 4, a balcony stateroom seems to be running around 9-10K - looks fairly similar to what you have above. When I priced the Med trip a couple years ago, the similar trip on RCCL (with 1 extra night) was approximately $3,000 less (balcony stateroom for 4). So, based on that, I'm guessing I would need to add 2 or 3K to the current Princess/RCCL pricing.

It also seems that balcony stateroom pricing on RCCL tends to equate (loosely) with category 9 pricing on Disney. For us, I'd rather lose the balcony to be on the Disney ship. So, my conclusion (after all that rambling), is that a family of 4 will be able to sail in category 9 for approximately 10K (no isurance or transportation). Guess we'll see how close I am!!!

Yes, that's per person. I also believe your estimates for a family of 4 are about right. I'm really looking forward to seeing DCL's pricing for these cruises.

Dude, you're famous!!:worship:
or would that be infamous? :lmao:

Its funny looking around all of the discussion and message boards and my screen prints come up and also, part of my posts.

I know its mine as I can see the 'tab's' opened up on the top of the screen and my name on it.

There is a lot of copying around from posts here.

I don't believe for a minute that any cruise line would do the Baltic's and not do St Petersburg! Disney is about business, not politics.

Well, I know Russia has been included in the proposed trips, not sure if someone has decided to take it out, the political situation is stable and also we are talking about 2010 a lot can happen by then.

Just returned and collected brochures - one that may be an indication of price is the transatlantic on Fred Osen leaving Miami on the 15th April 2010. This is a 16 night trip visiting Bermuda and Ponta Delgado and arriving in Dover on the 1st May.
Prices: suites full fare £4975 discounted £2737
Balcony £3615 discounted £1989
inside £2310 Discounted £1197.

What type of cruise line is that? Are they usually comparable to Disney in price?

Maybe they'll give us DVC'ers a little info about 2010 on our cruise tomorrow.:thumbsup2

St Petersburg caters for a considerable amount of tourists and there has never been any issue.

You are right and I really do hope it stays that way. But nobody can predict what can happen in the future, unfortunately.

I really wish that Magic 8 Ball was a guarantee. It could really come in handy ;)

Its a very popular cruise destination, I would understand if it was kept under review, but currently there isn't any risk and it would be a fabulous place to visit.

I have been looking at the UK ports again for any clues Harwich in Essex and Southampton, still no clues if they would be a home port, although, I did find pictures of the Wonder in Southampton, I didn't know this but it actually came to the UK and Southampton in 1999, after being built in Venice Italy and before its trip across the Atlantic,

An omen for a return of DCL?

I don't believe for a minute that any cruise line would do the Baltics and not do St Petersburg! Disney is about business, not politics.

I'm quoting myself here, because I should have completed this thought. IF they decided at this point not to do St Petersburg, I doubt they would do a Baltic itinerary. St Petersburg is THE crown jewel of a Baltic cruise. They might adjust and do another Europe cruise though.

If the State Dept issues a travel advisory against travel to Russia at the last minute, then of course they'd pull the port. (So anyone who thinks this might happen should probably think twice about booking.) But as long as the rest of the lines are going there, they won't shy away. If they wanted to get involved in politics, they wouldn't have opened a resort in China or offer ABD trips there.

I'm a former CM, and I'm really not trying to be cynical. But the fact is that Disney is about making money. They HAVE to be, as they have shareholders who they are accountable to. I've sold my stock, but it did VERY well when I had it. And I'm glad they continue to operate efficiently, because it means they'll be around a long time.

I still have my stock...and I say yes to St. Petersburg...I'm starting to warm up to this itinerary... :)

Or another option would be to do a "double dipper" - a 3 and a 4 night back to back on the Wonder.

We did that last summer, when the Magic was in the Mediterranean. It wasn't quite as good as a full 7-day, but it was pretty cool knowing that when everyone else was leaving after 3 nights, we still had another 4 to go!

Great clear post.:thumbsup2

Hi Andrew, For once I knew something you did not - this was a question on the Med. Cruise castaway group meeting and that is about the only one I knew apart from the fact they visited Venice.

agree with you about St. Petersburg - most cruises for the Baktic make this a 1 or even 2 day stop.

Helen helped me out at the Castaway Club meeting in 2007, she knew everythnig!

SUMMARY of what we know, or think we know. Nothing confirmed as yet by DCL.

2010

There is a press event on October 6th,
We are told the information will be in ‘preview’ on DCL website from October 7th.
On sale is said to be October 21st, some reports of the 14th.

CRUISE TO EUROPE

There will be an Eastbound Atlantic repo, from Port Canaveral, probably the second week of May which will be for at least 14 nights. Going towards Europe.

My guess on dates.:-Saturday May 8th 2010 the Magic I think will leave PC for Europe, but maybe not direct as last time. Arrive May 22nd in Europe

In 2007, this was Castaway Cay, Six days at sea, Tenerife, Cadiz Spain, Gibraltar, and Barcelona. This is expected to be amended at the Europe end.

A few small rumours of Bermuda, Madeira, on the list.

HOME PORT

In Europe the home port is considered to be Southampton or Harwich, both UK. Both about 90 mins from London Airports Heathrow and Gatwick, but also Stansted for Harwich.

BALTIC

From port lists and schedules we have seen we have worked out there is most likely –
NORTHERNEUROPE.jpg

Four 12 night cruises to the Baltic’s from these home ports. I have been posting on various threads since April and more in May, that I felt it was the Baltic sea and Northern Europe, the appearance of the Disney Magic’s name being listed on the Copenhagen port schedule found by Steph, -Taysmom.
http://www.tv.cphport.dk/coins/KbhHa...enAgent&lang=1
for June and July has supported this, starting on June 15th at Copenhagen, and made us feel it is the Baltic, we have an arrival time of 7am in Copenhagen.
2010.jpg

Seems to only be there for a few cruises up to Early July so there must be a few special cruises Transatlantics as I suggested, and some Northern Europe ones as well.
This is a screen print of the last one.

St. Petersburg in Russia is a popular cruise port and has been mentioned a lot, it clearly has been an integral and planned part of the Baltic cruises. A lot of cruise ships ‘overnight’ in St Petersburg.

We know Germany is included; the port of Warnemunde(for Berlin) has been mentioned a lot, and appeared on the port schedule for Denmark. In fact we have a departure time of 6pm from Germany.

Other ports mentioned, Gothenburg & Stockholm in Sweden, and Helsinki in Finland. Amsterdam and Tallinn, Estonia are outside bets.

First Baltic cruise is anticipated as June 12th, Last Baltic cruise ends July 30th in the UK.

CRUISE BACK

There will be a Westbound transatlantic back following the same route as the Eastbound but in reverse, my guess on dates is the Latest August 14th 2010 back to PC.-But that’s not from the Baltic. I looks like leaving there far earlier, so maybe, from West Europe. There appears to be a ‘gap’ in dates, so either the Repos are closer together, or there is another one way cruise around sailing maybe Western Europe, UK, to Barcelona perhaps, with Madeira and Gibraltar?

SPECULATION

I speculate the following, my guess is there is something else 'in-between' last time in 2007 it was

Transatlantic repo
10/11 Night Med
Then back Transatlantic repo.

I might be wrong but everything has been said in plural, special cruises, so I think
• Transatlantic repo and / or via Bermuda or New York?
• Special cruise Med>Southampton? Portugal? Madeira?
• Baltic cruises.
• Special cruise Southampton>Med Portugal? Madeira?
Transatlantic back.

Reasons:-
• Again everything said has been plural, cruises
• They usually leave and come back from PC first week May and back just before USA Labour day holiday.
• There are fewer Oslo slots than can accommodate this schedule.
• Oslo is further to go than the Med.
• Cruisers can buy in bite size chunks, and add on extra ports.
• The transatlantic didn’t sell well last time there was some discounting, so they need to 'beef' these up

SOME FACTS/INFO

I understand a considerable number of people some 50+ have asked to be waitlisted for suites for summer 2010.

Many TA's now say its the Baltic, and quote similar schedules to this threads posts.

The 50% deposit offer from DCL is due to end October 1st, but I understand it could be extended for a final time of one month to October 31st and then end that would cover he release of 2010 cruises. However note often the special cruises have a higher deposit pp.

2010/ APART FROM BALTIC

The Wonder will remain doing ¾ night cruises all 2010, maybe with two stops at Castaway cay on 4 night cruises to save fuel, and the Magic, will remain on its 7 night Caribbean trips from January to May and September to December, generally as now, might see a slight change in port schedule to cut down on fuel costs.
Tortola for example saves fuel on St Maarten on the Eastern. Port times could be reduced to allow the Magic to go slower on three engines.
