2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

Hi everyone,

Just stopping by to congratulate all the fellow Dis'ers that have moved on to the final round. I know you are going through a whole mix of emotions...fear, excitment, anxiety. Hang in there and relax. You would all be great additions to our Moms Panel family and I wish you all the best of luck with the coming interviews. :wizard::wizard:

Thanks so much, Margaret :) You are right about the emotions, it's a daily roller-coaster ride...but so very worth it. :)

Thank you ALL for the support. :)

and WELCOME to the waiting room, Marc...nice to "see" you over here too :)

I live in Howland, Ohio and frequent the Canfield Fair every year. Go Tigers!

Hi Onnie, We used to go to Howland frequently for soccer. Our kids played in the soccer travel leagues and the end of the year tournament was always in Howland Park.

The first ride that sticks out most for me is the Haunted Mansion, esp the ballroom scene. I was curious how they did that. Love the quick-draw scene and the ghost playing the organ and the dancers.

And to this day, when we have to split up our party to ride, I try to go in the first car. That way, once you come down from the ballroom scene and your car straightens out, but right before the turn -- I have to knock on the back of the car behind us!

And of course the statues of the men-ghosts singing are just cool!

Marshay, I had no idea you could knock on the back of another buggy. Oh this will be a great trick to play on DD this trip! Thanks!:rotfl:

Another Question of the Day for the waiters and onlookers (AKA 20Wonders):

What is the most unusual item that you carry with you into the parks?
What is the most used item you carry with you into the parks?
Where or in what do you carry these two items?

:confused3

Thanks Margaret! I found out on Tuesday the I had made it into Round 3 of the 2010 Mom's Panel Search! I am sooooo excited and I cannot wait until my phone interview next week! Congrats to all who made it to Round 3. For those who made it to Round 2 my hats off to you because everyone in Round 2 are some of the most amazing Disney people that I have ever met! Never give up on your dream and always dream big!
Marc Lorenzo

HI Marc! Welcome - I'm glad you found us over here! So far, I think you're the only dad I've seen posting??

We're a pretty fun bunch to hang out with - hope we can help relieve some of the nerves as we wait to hear about our interviews! (And, of course, after the interviews!!! ):goodvibes

Fun questions today Twende!!

Unusual-nail clippers, you can never tell when you will break a nail or when you need to use it to cut a string that is raveling!

Most used--My KTTW without a doubt! I am constantly pulling it out for fast pass, for dining, to buy something, whatever! I need to wear it around my neck!

Where do I keep these things-- much to my DD18's chagrin, in my fanny pack!! :rotfl2: She hates that I wear it!! In every picture, she says "take that thing off!" and I say, "no, it has Disney on it!" and I wear it anyway!!:rotfl:

1.Most unusual item would be, a homeopathic oil called Motion Ease that I use behind my ears so I can do the rides. It's a calming but distinct smell and now anytime I smell it, I think of being in the Disney parks. Weird, I know!

2.Most used item would be anti-bacterial hand wipes.:scared1:
3.I use a Disney backpack of course.;)

Oh what a fun question! (and the 20Wonders...is that the 2011 hopefuls? If so, LOVE it!). ;)

:surfweb: OK, on to the questions:

1. Most unusual item: Hmmm...nothing really unusual comes to mind. My family made fun of me because I carried my Hidden Mickeys field guide with me all week when we were at WDW in April. But that's not really unusual (aside from my DH, the rest of my family makes fun of my Disney love all the time...they're weird like that.)

2. Most used item: Um, hand sanitizer. In various forms - wipes and the gel/liquid stuff. And a mini purse sized can of Lysol spray. [Yes, I am 'that' mom who is always repeating 'don't touch that! wash your hands!'.]. And we ended up @ WDW during the week that the H1N1 was "discovered" this past spring, so I went into full germaphobe mode! haha.

3. I carry it all in my Land's End diaper bag. That thing is HUGE. I had so much stuff in it! It's the best diaper bag I've ever bought!

.....

Well, the 20Wonders (201'ers) could be for that but it came into use when it was decided that the people who applied but were rejected in the first round were not losers or rejects but we were all simply tied for 201st place with 198,000 other Disney freaks!

Being tied for 201st place sounds so much better!:rotfl:

DH got the Land's End Diaper backpack as a gift a few years ago. Diapers are long gone, but we still bring the backpack into the parks! It has perfect organization for traveling and the inside is a light color so easy to find stuff. In the sleve where the changing pad goes we now store or Disney maps, books, etc. They have updated it and I am tempted to get myself one in pink!

Interesting questions. :thumbsup2

Depending on who I am traveling with...I may have interesting medical supplies with me. But who cares about that junk. :confused3 The most unusual fun item I have is my waterproof digital camera. I use it all the time! My favorite thing is to take pictures on Splash Mountain as you go down the big hill.

My iPhone is the most used thing in the parks. I have all of my confirmation numbers and plans loaded in the phone. I have Apps for Wait Times and Park Maps. Plus I play the games while I am in line. I go to Disney solo quite a bit - so it is great if I am in line by myself! I also strike up conversations with all of the people around me. But sometimes it is nice to just tune out the world and play a game or check the DIS from my iPhone. :rolleyes1

I carry them in my new Disney bag. It is one of those drawstring bags. Super comfortable. I used to carry around a baggallini, but it was to "weighty" on one side. It drove me crazy. One of my best purchases on Disney property!

Can I stay if I am not even applying next year?

I am just cheering!! :cheer2: Go :cheer2: Go :cheer2: Go! :cheer2:

Hijack!!! (LOL!!)

Stitchnut!!! Could you please tell me where I would find Motion Ease? Do you find it works really well for you?

Good questions Twende!

Most unusual... I would have to say that at the moment, it is the special 3D-defying lens I made for my camera to allow me to shoot Mickey's Philharmagic!

As to most used, without a doubt, my camera(s)! I shoot between 200-400 pictures a day now that it is all digital and free! But even back in the film days, I would shoot 3 or 4 rolls a day- and get them done at the one hour place each night!

One camera is around my neck and the other two are in my jacket pocket.

And as to fanny packs- DO take them off for pics!!! They can create some very strange effects! And also, ALWAYS smile for pics!!! Trying to look cool, or serious or whatever only makes for bad pics! Learn to fake that smile if you have to! Smile with your eyes- all else will follow!

:)

Good Morning All!

Still suffering from a cold and now doing it blind! Lost a contact yesterday (I wear hard). So, trying to get into to see my eye doc today.

Most unusal item... don't really have an unusal one. Standard stuff here.
Most used...autograph book and camera. DS loves to meet the characters!
I use both a sling backpack and a diaper bag. Next trip I should be able to loose the diaper bag!

Glo,

I was so sad to hear of your dilemma. I'm glad you'll get all the nice perks at the Disney store. Good luck next year with the panel (if you're not still working at the Disney store).

:) I haven't had the chance to thoroughly read through today's posts...so I'm not sure how "unique" my items are. Actually, I don't think they are very unique at all.

Probably the most unusual item would be a pair of nail clippers. The kids wear Teva's the majority of the time, and we always seem to need to clip a nail at random times :confused3 ... and they've come in handy for other things too.

The most used item by far that I carry is my camera. Several years ago before one of our trips, I upgraded to a Nikon D40. It's compact enough to not be cumbersome, but nice enough to capture priceless memories with ease. I generally print about 800 photos from each trip for our Disney albums.

I carry both of these items in my Tamrac pack. It's a really neat smallish camera sling pack. It can go over one shoulder, or just use the handle. The thing I love about this bag is that it has a front zip pocket that has little spots perfect for storing all of our KTTW, Fast passes, hand sanitizer, nail clippers ;) and more. :)

Fun question, thanks. :)

That's so funny! I thought my dad was the only one that did that!! I still do it when my family gets separated like that too!

I guess great minds think alike!! :rotfl2:

OK! No fair! Now I feel deprived! I've never been knocked!!!!! :rotfl:

OK, next person to ride Haunted Mansion with Magic2go -- make sure you get the car in FRONT of her so you can knock her! :rotfl:

Marshay, I had no idea you could knock on the back of another buggy. Oh this will be a great trick to play on DD this trip! Thanks!:rotfl:

Oh, good -- my contribution to you for all the good you've been doing on this thread helping to get us all together and doing the QOTD.

I hope you get your DD! If you really want to scare her (I forget her age), make sure you knock hard, loud, fast and multiple times! It's funny when you get a good shriek!

Hmm, I need a good diaper bag for my upcoming trip...will check this out today.

Thanks for the link! I'm going to check this out, too. Right now I'm just using the free diaper bag we got at the hospital. Normally I just use a Baggalini in the park and make that my diaper bag...but with a newborn, we'll have extra supplies than just wipes and diapers so I need something else...

And as to fanny packs- DO take them off for pics!!! They can create some very strange effects!

I have to agree with you. I used to do the fanny pack years ago but then switched to a Baggalini but we also have a stroller so stuff goes in there.

My mom still does the fanny pack and I tell her EVERY time to remove it. She wouldn't, saying it takes too long to put on and off. Then she saw the photos afterwards and how it made her look bulkier and just odd when no one else in the photo had bags. She said, can you crop off the pic at my waist so you don't see the fanny pack?:lmao: Now she agrees and will take it off! (or remove her purse).:thumbsup2
