2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

Twende! That's awesome!

I don't ever recall seeing anyone that looked important. A close encounter would be fun though! :cool2:

Question of the day for all is what celebrities have you seen while you were vacationing at Disney? Were they escorted or on their own? How did you recognize them?

I am very bad at recognizing people. Sometimes someone looks familiar to me and hours to days later I place who they were but usually I have no clue.

My most incredible sighting was Mr Walt Disney himself. I was a mere child but I knew right away who he was, after all he personally introduced the television program, The Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday. It was obviously in Disneyland and he was accompanied by several other men but basically he was just strolling around looking at the sights.

He had a presence about him that must made me stop and stare at him. I don';t remember people rushing up to get near him or anything like that. He was so respected that people just smiled and observed him from wherever they were.

Zanna, I love the costume!

{That was DisneySunflower's costume not me, but I love it too! ;)}

...

That is SO cool that you got to see Walt...so many of us would give anything for that wonderful memory! Something tells me that in this day and age he *would* be mobbed tho...sad but true...or he'd at least need the handlers like the characters have to keep people at bay!!

...

While working at Magic Kingdom, I saw Bruce Willis there with his daughters, but no Demi that day (this was long before they got divorced tho). When my husband was working at Planet Hollywood, Sylvester Stallone came one day and I remember him calling me to come down and see him on the red carpet. I'm only 5'2", so I couldn't see over anyone to see him anyway! :P

When traveling to Disney World over the years, we saw Dick Van Patten right when MGM had just opened, and also Princess Diana and the two Princes in the 90's.

Thank you, thank you, Stitchnut!! I will pick some up before my next trip. I get nauseous on some things (like plane flights! LOL) so I'll try it out. I appreciate the tip!

Sunflower--love the costume. You look adorable!!

And yes, I too received another rejection email. I'm starting to find humor in it because if I don't laugh I may cry. :)

**QOTD--I have never seen anyone famous at Disney. Always on the lookout though!

***Yesterdays QOTD--Most unusual item I bring to the parks =nothing! I pack very lightly because I don't want to be hauling anything around with me. I do like a lot of your ideas, though.

Most used item is a tie between my camera and hand sanitizer. Can't go anywhere without either of those items!

I carry a Disney sack-style backpack. Love it! Roomy, light, and comfy to wear.

Twende, how cool to have seen Mr. Walt Disney! Thanks for sharing your story.

Last year while my family was at DHS, we saw Ryan Seacrest shooting a commercial for the American Idol attraction. He was surrounded by a lot of people and it was a little hard to get close. My husband and son recognized him and were a little surprised he was there.

This summer while on the our cruise, my daughter met Jason Doley, Chelsea Staub, and Nicole Anderson from the Disney Channel as part of the Summer with the Stars. She got all of their autographs. She had a blast.

Most used item - camera. I keep it separate from the rest of my things, in a almost holster-like holder that clips on to my pocket. I can whip that thing out in one second flat if needed!

Hi Barb!

Hmmmm... exactly what is this camera holster? Is it totally secure? No way that you could rub against something and have it slip off without your noticing like I did with my favorite Zippo so many years ago?

My mantra is ALWAYS have the camera ready! Well done!

:)

That really is well said and does make it easy to create a pic of him in your mind! I love it!

Thankyouthankyouverymuch... [insert an Elvis smiley here]

I was never able to see him in person. I got to be in a movie with Elvis and Ann Margaret but never saw MJ.

Say! Why don't you drop a bombshell and give no further details? hehehehehee...

Come on Twende! Give!

:)

Have been reading back through the questions of the last few days. My kids' school found asbestos:scared1: and they closed school for 3 days while they cleaned it up.

The most unusual thing we carry in the parks is in our fanny pack (yes, we are part of the unfashionable group) a Disney Dollar that we have carried on the last 10 trips. We just never got around to spending it and now it is kind of like our good luck charm. :)

Never have seen any stars though Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were there during our last visit but we never saw them. I am not into star gazing at all.

My wife and I saw Gary Sinise at Marrakesh, the day after he had done the processional. No escorts at all, but nicely enough everyone was leaving him and his family along.

And of course, thanks to the Disney Mom Panel gig, I got to spend a very brief amount of time with the current American Idol!

About 6 years ago, I saw some soap opera stars being interviewed near the Brown Derby. I only remember "Erica Cane" in particular as I don't really follow the soaps.

Okay Jud, here is the low down. My family was visiting Las Vegas in 1963 when Elvis and Ann Margret were filming the movie Viva Las Vegas.
We had just driven across the dessert, with no A/C in the car and me car sick most of the way. :scared1:

We arrived at the motel and my bother and I could not wait to get into the pool. It was a lovely pool with the neatest shape. It was scalloped all around the edges. Of course Mom had to take a photo and then I jumped into the pool and my DB did a swan dive off the hight dive. As we both started to enjoy the water the life guards blew their whistles and cleared the pool. I was not happy!

Here they had begun filming one of the pool scenes and we were not allowed in the water. They had special people who were brought in to just swim in the back ground. We were then directed to take up places in the lounge chairs around the pool area, so we got to be background. At the time I was not a happy 7 year old. I wanted in the water. My father said he had not been told about the filming or we would have found rooms in another hotel.:lmao:

At one point they did film my brother diving off the high dive. He was a very skilled swimmer and diver. He is 16 almost 17 in the pic and I am 7.

Here is a youtube clip from the movie.

If you go to about second 57 you can see one of the pool scenes.

The worst thing of all of this is my father took no pictures of Elvis at all. He did take a few of Ann Margret though! :rotfl:

I haven't been on for a couple of days, so I am catching up.

Question o the day yesterday: I don't think I have anything unusual, but we do carry a Disney backpack with everything we need!

Today's question: We visited a couple of years in a row when they were doing the "Soap Weekends" at DHS, and one night during extra magic hours there was some Soap star (I don't watch soaps, so I do not know who) who got to board Test Track from the exit forcing us to wait for the next car. Women who were shrieking when they saw him, I was just irritated I had to wait longer!

Also, one time during "Year of a Million Dreams", my then 4 year old daughter was picked by a CM outside the Chinese Theater to be the "Celebrity of the day" for the Great Movie Ride. They took her handprints (with paint), walked us through the back VIP entrance to the front of the line, and sat us in the front seat next to the driver for the ride. It was GREAT!!!! I think I could used to being treated like a celebrity.

And to Glo-I am so sorry you could not continue in the Moms panel search. Good luck to you next year. Hopefully we can both be on it together!

Disney Sunflower, your costume picture is just adorable!! I love it!! You make a wonderful Minnie and your love for Disney shines through!!

These are great answers... oh, and for yesterday's question, if you don't have clippers and need a pair, just give a shout out for one if us and we will dig them out of our fanny pack for ya!! :rotfl2:

For today's question, I have seen Mickey, Minne, Donald, Goofy, Mary Poppins ("would you like to take a photograph?"), etc... They are the only stars I go to see and I want my picture made with each one--on every trip!! If I was walking beside a star, I would not even know it!! I'm so focused on being at Disney, I could be walking by anyone!! I was there and was part of the taping when Meredith Viero was doing the WWTBAM show so I guess I can say I saw her. She was much funnier in person than on tv!! She even came into the studio singing one time and then one time she walked out and almost did a face plant when she slipped because of her shoes. She immediately went to change clothes!

Just wanted to keep everyone following along in the loop - I just got my phone interview scheduled. I told them I was available any time and I think I just gave myself the FIRST interview as a result! *GULP* :earseek:

I will now spend the next 4 days in utter suspense!! (followed by the next week waiting for The News™) :scared1:

Best of luck to all the finalists on their interviews!! :goodvibes

:) Mine was just scheduled too :earseek:

Hope your interview goes magically for you, Zanna. Yours must be on Tuesday...mine is Wednesday.

I think I'd prefer it earlier too so you won't have to stress waiting for the questions--save your stress while waiting for the results instead!

Best of luck to you all!

Just scheduled my phone interview too!

Mine is fairly early on Tuesday. When I told DH he said, "It's bad to be one of the first. They'll forget about you." Thanks, honey; that really builds my confidence, lol!

I have one of those small digital cameras, and I found this "holster" at a dollar store! It is a Lowepro Slider 20. I found one listed on ebay but not in the Lowepro official website. It has a magnetic flap that keeps it closed and I have the strap sticking out so all I have to do is undo the flap and grab the strap. The clip part that I slide into my pocket is pretty tight, and I have a habit of patting my hip every few minutes to make sure it is still there. So far so good, haven't lost it the last two trips!

I found a review:

Wow! I didn't realize what a great dollar store find this was!!
