Just popping back in to see if there is any news!

Stare at my green space and see who it thinking of you!

Have a great morning all!

Best wishes to all of the applicants for the 2010 panel!

I know what it's like to wait for that phone call. Just remember that if your path doesn't put you on the road to the Panel this year, never give up. Many 09s were in the running for the 08 panel. It's a tremendous task to pick from so many wonderful and equally qualified applicants.

Also, it's not how much you know about WDW but your willingness to share the info that really helps. Most of all, it's a writing job. Nevertheless, I know how lucky I was to make it on the first panel given how many people probably know more than me, etc. So, I guess it does take an extra dose of pixie dust too.

Given that, I wish everyone a pixie-dusted day. You are all incredibly worthy of the position.

:wizard:

Firstly GOOD LUCK to everyone who made it to Round 3 eagerly awaiting your news (as are we!)

Our favourite time of year to visit has to September/October
As we travel from the UK we try to visit when we know the crowds will be smaller and we can take advantage of no queues. Free dining has also been a bonus at this time of year for us in the past which makes a big difference. We also love MNSSHP! DS6 just loves trick or treating in MK. Halloween at home just doesn't seen to cut it anymore.

To all waiting by the phone today, best wishes and good luck! And as Jerry said, "At least I enjoyed the ride!"

When is your favorite season(or holiday) to visit Disney World and what makes that time special for you?

I have three answers!

Originally, it was the last week in January. This was in the late 90's, and I was coming down from the Boston winter into the magic of the Florida warmth and tourist attractions centered about the three parks of Walt Disney World. I had the parks to myself! Or close enough anyway! Even when slow, everything was still manned and open. Walk onto Space Mountain at High Noon! Or anything else! Heck, one time in The Studios, I think I saw maybe 12 other people in the park all day? CM's were stalking me for someone to talk to! But alas, all good things... now there are no 'slow' times and when it is less than mobbed, they start closing things.

Then, as a Florida Resident and bi-weekly visitor, it was the time of the Flower and Garden Show. Wow! I had never seen such beauty! The place was saturated with it! Thank goodness for digital, cause every step was a new photo op! One shoot was 300 pics in four hours and every one a keeper! And the music! Arlo Guthrie! Eric Burden! Iron Butterfly! Flo and Eddie!

Most recently, a bit less mobile, a bit less frequent, and thoroughly familiar with the fixtures and attractions, I find I enjoy seeing what the guests do at Halloween. Some of them are simply magnificent in the creation of their costumes! Two years ago, I saw the Huntsman, Snow White and The Evil Queen in costumes that put the Disney wardrobe department to shame! And a 30+ woman as Tink that was so perfect, I was too stunned to get the photograph! And a family of Incredible's from baby to the perfect Mom and Dad! This year, I was delighted by a large family that covered every character from Peter Pan, right down to 'baby John'! And the highlight was on Halloween itself when I saw a pair of Hitchhiking Ghosts that walked right out of the Haunted Mansion! (Don't have the picture up yet, but just you wait!)

If I had to pick only one season it would be the time right after Thanksgiving until right before Christmas.:goodvibes

I love the extra decorations and the special shows. :santa: There is still nothing that compares to Illuminations that time of year. What a blast, literally! :woohoo:

The other draw for our family is that the weather in Ohio is beginning to get really cold and snowy and that Florida sunshine is most welcome!:beach:

We have never stayed through Christmas Day but one of these days we may just do that. I would not choose to be in the parks on New Years Day. I guess I am just too old for all the crowds. It may have been a really fun thing to do when I was younger? :confused3:rotfl:

One year, DH and I did our anniversary trip in the early Fall and we were happily surprised by all the decorations in MK. I think if we had known about it in advance, poor planning on my part:sad2:, we would have done MNSSHP. pirate: We saw people returning from it and they had such a look of delight and satisfaction on their faces. One of these days we are going to give it a try!

As a college student I did many a Spring Break in Disney and although it was a needed reprieve from studies and snow at OSU, it was aways a very busy time in the parks. Waits were long and I do not remember fast passes being there yet. Fast Passes have definitely helped with the waits on major attractions.:woohoo:

Another favorite for me is the Spring in EPCOT. :flower: The topiaries and flowers at The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival are just breath taking.:rose: :daisy: I could care less if I do any attractions. ::yes:: I just want to walk around and savor the beauty! :butterfly If you have never done this one, it is a must.:thumbsup2 Another thing that makes this special is that the start of this show often coincides with another favorite holiday, St. Patrick's day, :shamrock: which is also my Birthday! So more reasons to celebrate!

One thing we have missed and would love to attend is The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. I have heard wonderful things about it but Late Fall seems to always be a busy time for us and we have missed it every year. Oh well there is always tomorrow! :flower3:

After reading this back to myself I realize that I have no completely favorite time in Disney. I do believe that my favorite time is Disney is any time I am there! :cool1::lmao:

Well back to the nervous waiting.

Best Wishes to all Round Three-ers! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

When is your favorite season(or holiday) to visit Disney World and what makes that time special for you?

Christmas, hands down. It is special for me, because, I love the decorations and detail that Disney gives to the resorts and parks. I couldn't believe the Gingerbread House at Grand Floridian and it just kept getting better at every resort we visited.

Kaylene -- that is a simply adorable photo and the essence of Disney. I have to agree and repeat what others have said.

The best season for me is probably Spring, in May. I love all the flowers and lower crowds and still being able to use the pools but it's not super hot. We did the Pirate and Princess party and that was good, too.

I've been to WDW in every month (except October). I'm hoping to do the Halloween party one of these years.

Christmas season and the party is right up there too! My favorite is the Candlelight Processional, but now with two small girls I know they wouldn't sit through it so I'll just have to wait a few more years.

Who knew that such innocent fun could cause such a stir! :rotfl::confused3:scared1::lmao:

It is still amazing me. I had no idea that people could be so against naming something especially since it was only a nick name! Oh that is right. I am really a Disney secret agent/plant/mole who works for marketing and I am going to push those pixies to take over the world!:rotfl:

From what I have been reading the Fab Four were added to EPCOT two years after it first opened. It opened in 1982 so Mickey and cast were added sometime in 1984.

From what I was reading, there was not only 'anger' about trying to pixie-fy Epcot, but also a lot directed at the Mom's Panel in general.

For those who make the Mom's panel (and current panelists), just remember to "smile and wave" when you encounter this. I'm sure you'll handle with grace.

It still shocks me that this survey got the response it did. I was very surprised at the emotions that were displayed in the thread. The "anger" was the most surprising of it all!

You are right though, seeing this unexpected response is good practice for those who make this years panel!

Just keep smiling, just keep smiling, just keep smiling......said in my best Dory voice!

I thought I would take a minute to update you on the poll thread concerning the naming of "those areas" in EPCOT.

With only 74 voters the most popular name was Twinkling Sidewalks with 40.54% of the vote.
The second place went to Pixiedust Pathways with 27.03% of the vote.

Thank you luvpoohandcompany for the Pixiedust Pathways name and tink_lover for the name Twinkling Sidewalks! Great job! :thumbsup2

I think Twinkling Sidewalks fits the side with the geometric shapes and multiple colors and Pixiedust Pathways fits the other side with the random scattering of lights. What do you all think?:confused3:goodvibes

I saw a family outside the Beach Club near the dock this Halloween that the Dad was Captain Hook, Mom was Wendy, son was Peter, daughter was Tink and the baby in the baby carriage was Tick-Tock.

Just thinking about it right now makes me smile.

Just stopped in to see if there was any news yet. I am so excited for all of you.

We usually tend to go to WDW at the end of the year October - December as that is just the time our vacations seem to work out. I love December with all the Christmas decorations but having been in April/May this year I just can not get over how beautiful the F&G festival was.

This is now my favorite time and can not wait to go in the spring again. Although NYS exams are messing that up this year - darn NYS, we will have to move it back a bit earlier so I hope it is not too crazy there and hopefully a bit cooler.

Can't wait to hear the news from everyone!!!! :)

Speaking of Figment and DD's who are fans ;) LOOK what I just found when I went to climb into my bed :lovestruc

DSC_0913-1.jpg

This is DD-5 in her well-loved Cinderella nightie. princess: :figment: She climbed into Mommy & Daddy's bed, located my beloved Figment from my 1984 trip, snuggled up and fell asleep. Most likely, she is having Disney Dreams like her Mommy will tonight :) ;) :lovestruc:love::cloud9:

That :figment: , by the way, is the "old school" one from the original ride that I loved so much :)

Sweet & Magical dreams to you all :)

I have this same stuffed animal! :goodvibes But it is like 5 times smaller (still has the hanging tag thing on it. And I rarely let my kids touch it. :rotfl:

Hi Agnes,

Did you look at my pics? Maybe the same family? Though in mine, Dad was a Red-skin!

The Incredible Family that I shot a couple of years ago, I have seen in others albums! They were quite a hit- the outfits fit well and they looked good in them.

Checking in to see if any news .....

Yea for the twinkling sidewalks :goodvibes. There was some, um...., interesting responses on that other thread. Yikes!

I haven't been to WDW when it has been decorated for Christmas. We will get there at some point for that. Right now, I have to say I LOVE the Halloween decorations. DH and I were so happy they were out on our early September trip. We were able to really enjoy MK all decked out where the year before, when we actually attended MNSSHP with the kids, it seemed like we were running around and didn't get to enjoy how pretty the park looked.

Next trip is in January - what can I expect as far as park decorations? How long are the Holiday decorations out?

How are all of you that are waiting for new holding out??

Well...

They told me to wait till after 2:30ish, but I gave it a little extra just in case...

so...

I am a member of the 2010 Disney Moms Panel!!! :woohoo:

I was asked to be a part-time panelist, which we knew after the interviews was going to be a possibility. What that means is our time served answering questions will be 3-4 months vs. a whole year, but there is also the possibility of extending that service once our time is up (which of COURSE I'd be willing to do!). We will still attend training and that is really what I am most excited about - meeting my new friends and the existing Moms Panelists in December!! Can't WAIT!!!

From what I've heard so far, the people that have made it onto the panel are part-time as well, but I haven't heard from everyone. Hopefully they will check in here soon!

Thank you ALL for all the support and encouragement from day one - DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!!! pixiedust:  :cloud9:
