2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

Love this question, Kim :)

My DS-9 said the pathways at AK where he can see animal prints in the sidewalks, bird tracks, etc :) DD-5 absolutely loves the carpet inside Journey Into Imagination that makes animal sounds, etc when you jump on the squares.

whaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT??????????? What is this you say???? Why have I never heard of this????

Another thing I love is the sand beneath my toes in the Stormalong Bay pool at the Yacht and Beach Club. There's a specific part of the pool, "sinking sands" that I just love having underneath my feet :)

I very happily checked off my last 'must-do' this past weekend with a dip in the pool at Y&BC! Coupled with a few runs down the big boat slide! I spent quite some time scrunching my toes into the sinking sand! Very cool! And makes a very nice bottom for a pool!!!

Will hold off till tomorrows promised question, but did find a hidden mickey in the hall carpet at YBC...

:)

Jud, thanks too for posting that link. I could spend all day on YouTube!

Isn't that awesome!!! That parade is/was not easy to capture in any image or other video I have seen: this guy really nailed it! Not an easy thing! And with keepvid.com, now I have it too!

What does your brick say? FUIT HI? :confused3

Close!

Originally, I wanted it to say "In the World" and the years... (which end with ... implying more visits in future years...) but they would not allow ANY even veiled reference to WDW! So I changed it to a classic Latin phrase made popular in WW II by Kilroy, Fuit Hic.

It means "Was here."

Hey all! :-)
Thanks for making me the person of the day or in the hotseat! I do not have a lot of time to go in depth about myself today. I have a busy day at work, then at church after work (I run sound at my church) and it is my son's 12th Birthday today! :-) So I have a full plate today but I wanted to answer the Question of the Day!

What is your favorite piece of architecture in Disney that you find under your feet? I have two favorites!

The first one is at Epcot and it is the Fiber Optic Lights in the ground near Spaceship Earth that twinkle as you are leaving the Park. Most people do not even notice them under their feet but I like to stand there and watch them for a while because it puts me in a peaceful place! :-)

My second one is a big one because it is all the carpets at the Disney resorts because they all have incredible designs and most of them have Hidden Mickey's and other characters too. If you do not know..... I am a huge Hidden Mickey Fan!

Well I have to go! Hope all of you are having a magical day and best of Luck & Pixie Dust to all the 3rd Rounder's who are having their interviews today!

Hey Marc!!

I just wanted to tell you that I run sound at church, too. Actually it is Media Shout and video - but it is back in the sound booth! :thumbsup2

I hope you will take some time later in the process to introduce yourself and your family to all of us! :thumbsup2

Okay that makes sense now. I looked again and sort of see the "C"!

I do have a question about the sand bottom of the BC pool. Is the entire area this "sinking sand" or just a certain part of it? I hope, weather permitting to be in it very soon!

Jud after you ride the Journey into Imagination with Figment you enter an interactive area. One of the first things you see is the musical conductor games on the right and then after that is the interactive sound carpet. I play on it as an adult and I also take my mom's wheel chair over the squares. She loves it too! Lots of fun!

3 of my kids enjoying the "musical" carpet squares inside Imagination :) My youngest DD could spend HOURS in this one area (and has tried to several times). :rotfl:

I'm SO glad you got to try out the pool, Jud. :cloud9: It's heavenly :)

Kim, the "sinking sand" is one section of the very large pool area. Standing at the Hotel and looking out towards the pool, the far right is a shallow "beach" area usually used by younger kids. Next is a "lazy river section" (wonderful on the big rafts they have for rent). Then is the sinking sands, and the "whirling waters". That, by the way, is SO fun. It's like a big whirlpool that pushes you around and around in a big circle. It's actually a pretty strong current. To the far left of the pool is the big ship slide. There are several regular pool areas scattered throughout too. :) The majority of the pool is sand bottom, but there are a few sections that aren't. For the most part, though, you feel the sand beneath your toes all through the pool :) :thumbsup2

Hi Kim! (Ya, I catch on eventually!)

Ya- I keep meaning to get over there and clean it... :)

There is sand over all of the pool- at that end at least, but only one area with the sinking sand, marked by a warning buoy! Watch out! hehehehee...

Ahhhh! Totally missed that! Usually looking at the musical side room or the big camera! Maybe next time, if it's not crowded, I will take my scooter over there and play a few animal tunes! hehehehee...

How wonderful! Great shot! Thanks!

Aye! Though the air was a bit cool for me, but I have wanted to do that big boat slide for years!!! Have stayed on prop several times, but they are really tight about pool hopping to that pool! Had no idea about the sand! That was so totally wonderful! On a warm day (85 minimum) I would probably spend the day there between the slide and the sand!

Oh ya! That whirlpool was awesome too! The 9yo boy I was with just thought that was the best thing ever! Even his `Rents gave it a grudging shot...

:)

Kayleen, Thanks for posting the pictures of the light up area in EPCOT. Does it have an official name? :confused3:lmao:

Your kids are adorable. I have a thing for red heads or any shade with red in it! Oh those curls too! How very precious!

:lovestruc Thanks for the sweet compliment. Yes, we've been blessed with FOUR red-heads, and a blondie who has some red highlights in his hair!! :) :cloud9:

Maybe we should all make up a name for that area ;)

Red-heads are good! At The Disney Games which I attended as part of the paid audience (park tickets) I met a family of TEN!!! Mom Dad and TEN adorable children running from baby to teen... imagine trying to buy a day at a park with that!!! They were there for the tickets!

BUT!!! Horrors! This morning, I looked in the mirror, and I went gray overnight!!! Not totally, but not one or two strands! LOTS!!!! Overnight!!! What's with that???

Maybe we should all make up a name for that area ;)

Good idea!!! Hmmmm... no idea, but I like the idea! Also want to point out, cause this confused me for a long time, that there are TWO areas, one on each side- and the one on the west side is very geometrical. Kept seeing pictures of that but never saw it on the east side which was where it was as far as I knew!

So... names would have to be two, and differentiate! Technical versus freeform!

:)

I just checked with an Epcot CM I know, and she said as far as she knows, there is no name for those areas.

So... get to work!

Sorry, but this made me LOL!:rotfl2:

I can't wait to hear more about the interviews once they are all over.

And of course -- 5 more days!!! that's going to be here in no time!!

:wizard: I just wanted to send out some pixiedust: to Dannee (Disneysunflower) ... her interview is today. I think she MAY be the last of the DIS Finalists to be interviewing.

So pixiedust: to Dannee and everyone else too. :)

Thank you so very much! My stomach was in knots before the interview and I almost could not breathe when the phone rang. But, Hakuna Matata!

And now we wait. :hourglass

Dannee I'm sure you did great and did I read you play golf? I do too, I'm married to a PGA pro and it would be great to have another golfer on the panel :goodvibes

Today is exactly 1 year since the 2009 panel received their congratulations phone calls, I can not believe that a year has passed so quickly and that so much has happened. I would never have believed that I would have 15 brand new best friends, who I chat with everyday even thought they're thousands of miles away, I would have slept in Cinderella's Castle over night and answered over 1,000 questions helping people from all over the world plan their trips. I truly hope all of you get that magical phone call next week too :goodvibes

Thanks to everyone that sent Pixie Dust my way!
:thanks:

What is your favorite piece of architecture in Disney that you find under your feet?
I would also have to say the resort's carpets, very fun!

When did you first admit or perhaps realize that you were a bit impassioned for Disney?
I believe that would be in 2003, our first trip as a family and I cried as we drove from Coronado Springs Resort. My husband and I knew, we were hooked!

Thank you so very much! My stomach was in knots before the interview and I almost could not breathe when the phone rang. But, Hakuna Matata!

I'm sure you did great! We were all a bundle of nerves! I'm sure they are used to it by now :rotfl: Seriously, its worse than a "regular" job interview, public speaking... or even getting caught with toilet paper on your foot!:lmao:

Take a deep breath now that it is over, and relax. I think all the interviews are finished now.... so the waiting has officially begun!

It sure is going to be a long weekend, but I'll definitely have a clean house by Tuesday:laundy:... and worked off a few pounds at the gym:yay:... unless of course I eat the remainder of the Halloween candy! :dance3:

  Woo hoo...at least it's over, and now we all wait together :grouphug:

Hope you have a wonderful 5 days, at least we have each other to help pass the time :grouphug:
