Thank you! I read the post and you did a FANTASTIC job. I'm starting to think you know A LOT more than you are leading on!!!!

Thanks for being here!

Hahaha.. I appreciate the kind words but tragically.. I'm not holding anything back. I'm very much a "what-you-see/read" kinda guy.

Plus I'm a blabber mouth so secret keeping on this exciting stuff would be way too hard for me.. unless I was specifically asked not to.. But that's not the case here.

And I'll stress once again - this is based on TOTALLY unofficial info and rumors. Disney could change their mind in a heartbeat and make me look the fool by introducing the 4/3 deal or somethign else entirely.

It *could* happen.

I have taken a reasonable risk based on what info was in front of me. So.. fingers crossed it all works out as we ALL hope!

Lordy, forgive me with all the questions!
Will I have to cancel my WHOLE reservation, and start all over or just my dining plan?? If my hotel of my current reservation is the correct hotel (crossing fingers that it is), then shouldn't it be easier to just switch the dining plan?

Please correct me if I am wrong on this:
but if you have a room only reservation with a % off and you want to move to a package deal (like FD) than you have to cancel your room reservation and book new. But if you currently have a package with no discount than they can just modify the reservation to add a code/pin. If you have a package and need to switch resorts they are able to modify also.

Just talked to a CM at the reservation center (I was changing my room view for my October trip) and she said while she hadn't heard anything about Free Dining yet, officially, she was encouraging me to make my ADRs now. (I'm already done: Chefs de France, Narcoosee's and Cape May!) Hope that gives you all some hope!

Didn't ticket prices go up last year?

and every year before that!!! But I checked my 2007 package (matches both my and her current package for length and resort) and, in three years, the package increased $110 ($1179 - $1289). Now in my case, its only 2 people vs her 2A2C but still an increase of $270 in 1 year seems off. :confused3

Room only would be cancelled and a new booking created.

Again - the newly added costs of upgrading from QS to Regular DDP (presuming that cost does come into play) and then if either of the kids broached the 10 years old threshold.. that would also increase the costs beyond usual annual ticket price and resort price increases.

Anyone taking bets on how many busy signals it will take before you can get through to a CM at 7am on May 3d?:rotfl:

Or how long you'll be on hold listening to Disney music when you actually get through?

My guess is the time frame that we are going. Last year we went Sept 26-Oct 3. I think it is value season until Oct 1. So the nightly rate was probably a little less. Plus they are probably charging a little more this year. I don't know. My AAA receipt from last year has the exact total at $1562.74 for Pop Century 26SEPT09 03OCT09 7 NIGHTS 8 Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket Plus Dining.

I ran the numbers on the Disney website and the dates Oct 1- Oct 8 for Pop Century, same tickets and no dining is $1832.21. If you add dining...it is over $2700.

If F/D is offered again and the Value resorts are limited to QSDP, wouldn't you only have to pay the difference to upgrade to DDP? I don't know how old your kids are, but even assuming they're both over 10 and you have to pay adult price to upgrade everyone, that still adds only $280 [$10/person/day x 7 days] to the cost for a week which brings your total to $2112.21. If either of your children are under 10, then the cost would be less. Still a significant jump from last year for sure, but not as bad as $2700. :goodvibes

Do you find that the music is so quiet...I can usually barely hear it.

I never even thought about the numbers(I was looking at the dates of her trip) but you are right it would only add $24-$40/night depending if kids are under 10.
$280 if all kids are 10 and over($40/night)
$224 if one of the kids is under 10 and the other is 10 or older($32/night)
$168 if jids are under 10($24/night)

That isn't that much...Yes, it is a lot from last year but you are going during reg season which room rate jumps $23/night.

Hi all, I am new to the site and planning my first trip to Disney for Sept 19th. We want to book the Animal Kingdon Lodge (room only). If we book now and the free dining offer becomes available after we book, can we change to the dining plan and get the free offer or do you have to already have the dining plan booked to get it free? Or is it best just to wait?

I'm looking for some opinions please. What mod & what deluxe do you think will fill up first/fastest if FD gets released?

I have heard that POFQ goes quickly too. I have often seen people having problems getting in there for FD.

Here is my information from last year. My son went to the Disney adult because he will be 11 when we travel. But I did the math on that, and it increased our package $35. No biggie. You will see the total of $1562.74. If you run the numbers for Oct 1-Oct 8 for 2 adults and 2 children ages 11 and 8 you will see the price $1832.21. No park hopper, no water park, with a standard room.

Yes you are correct. However if you will look in the post above we went last year and paid $1564.72. If QSFD is offered to the Value Resorts this year it would cost us $2056.21 for the same trip we took last year. That is almost $500 more than last year. Neither my husband or I are willing to pay that much more for the same vacation we took last year. If Disney offers FD to the Values, and the cost is $1832.21 we are willing to pay that. We also buy the MNSSHP tickets for our family. That I have no issue with...I just think $500 is a really big jump for one year.

Oops, double checked & its only a $110 increase over 3 years! I suppose there could be reasons why such a large increase in 1 year, the date of her 11 yo's BDay for example. But I got the impression from her post that, except perhaps the upgrade of DDP, everything else from the previous trip was the same, except the price. I dunno, just hanging out here for no reason (BB!!), looking for something to do!!!

Oh, and Melanie, DD and I were at Pop 9/24-9/30 last year. Bet we actually saw each other!!!

We probably did! Too funny. Actually though...I ran the numbers...with DS turning 11 before this trip...it only increased the cost $35. So that isn't a huge amount. Again I have no issue paying $268 more this year due to the time frame difference and our son's age. However to push that to $500 more than last year is just too much.

I ran the numbers too and, of course, get what you get. I just don't get it?!?!?! Maybe you got a GREAT deal last year??? This is why I wish they'd break down the package so you could compare. But I know you'll have a ball at US/IOA!! Don't tell anyone I said it, but its a GREAT park!!!!

Oh yeah..we know. We go to Universal EVERY YEAR. We started in 2006 and Lauren was only 4 years old and we had a blast. We went again in 2007, and 2008. We didn't go last year because Disney offered Free Dining and it was a great deal. Well this year (THANK YOU DISBOARDS) I caught wind of the ticket price increase for US/IOA. So I literally left that minute and went to my AAA office and snagged 4 of the $99 tickets to US/IOA before they changed the price. So basically we got the promo the Hard Rock is running for Buy More Save More and got the HRH for $131 a night...$1052 for 7 nights total. With the addition of Harry Potter, and the great hotel prices that US/IOA is offering...I certainly hope Disney allows FD at the Values this year. This will be our last fall trip we can take. My children only have one more year of year round school and we go back to summer's off. Going to Disney in the summer is just too hot for me!
