Yes you are correct. However if you will look in the post above we went last year and paid $1564.72. If QSFD is offered to the Value Resorts this year it would cost us $2056.21 for the same trip we took last year. That is almost $500 more than last year. Neither my husband or I are willing to pay that much more for the same vacation we took last year. If Disney offers FD to the Values, and the cost is $1832.21 we are willing to pay that. We also buy the MNSSHP tickets for our family. That I have no issue with...I just think $500 is a really big jump for one year.

I totally agree, $500 is a major increase and I don't blame you for not wanting to pay that much more for the same thing. I guess part of the reason for the increase is that this year you and your family are traveling during regular season as opposed to value season? I know ticket prices also increased but still ... $500 is an unrealistic increase given the fact that everything else remains the same.

Oh yeah..we know. We go to Universal EVERY YEAR. We started in 2006 and Lauren was only 4 years old and we had a blast. We went again in 2007, and 2008. We didn't go last year because Disney offered Free Dining and it was a great deal. Well this year (THANK YOU DISBOARDS) I caught wind of the ticket price increase for US/IOA. So I literally left that minute and went to my AAA office and snagged 4 of the $99 tickets to US/IOA before they changed the price. So basically we got the promo the Hard Rock is running for Buy More Save More and got the HRH for $131 a night...$1052 for 7 nights total. With the addition of Harry Potter, and the great hotel prices that US/IOA is offering...I certainly hope Disney allows FD at the Values this year. This will be our last fall trip we can take. My children only have one more year of year round school and we go back to summer's off. Going to Disney in the summer is just too hot for me!

would just get me to and from the airport, I'd be set!!! I hate driving in unfamiliar places. But, next year will be SW/US/IOA/WWOHP I think. Have a blast & be sure to ride Spiderman for me - the best ride I've even been on!!!

when did early Oct become regular season? or was it always and I just never noticed?

I am pretty sure when we went in Oct 2002 the 1st full week of Oct was regular season. Between MNSSHP and Food & Wine and throw in Columbus day there is enough demand for regular season prices.

It is regular season. It ups the price about $180 from the last week in Sept. That is why we are fine with paying the extra $268 from last year, but to pay $500 more...:sad2: cant do it.

Basically the biggest differences come in with an additional $30 a night *($10 x 3 adults) x 7 nights for 210$ .. and that's the cost of the upgrading of the QSDP to the DDP as well as the change in pricing 'seasons'.

Of course.. that is assuming that upgrade will be required because of the way the offer is put out this year.

As with everything I posted - that's not a 'for sure' yet.

If you move everything back a week to compare apples to apples (same season year to year).. the total for 7 nights starting September 24th is $1650.31 vs the the $1562 you paid the year before.

So that's about a $87 increase year over year .. that's reasonable in my book.

The increases come about because we aren't comparing the same pricing season to the same pricing season AND we're adding in the potential cost of upgrading from QS to regular DDP.

And yeah.. that's a big number to swallow.

We'll see if that dining upgrade is required.. on May 3 I guess.

Melanie, I could only imagine how much more stressful the wait is for you. With me, at least I know I am going no matter what. I would hate to have my planning in limbo as yours is. For your sake, I hope May 3Rd gets here quickly and shows FD for everyone with no tiers.

I totally agree Knox. I know it is the different week, and my son's age. However $500 a just a week's difference!:scared1: It is just a lot. I guess we could just do it, and not buy MNSSHP tickets, but that would be a bummer. The only way I can get DH to be onboard with going back to Disney is if we can get the FD without paying to upgrade it. If not I have no doubt we will have a great time and really enjoy US/IOA and seeing Harry Potter. I must say that I really enjoy the FOTL! I just know that my daughter would love to go back to Disney. Our first day there last year we went to HS. She was picked to be the Princess at the Beauty and the Beast show. Talk about blowing her away! She was so excited. Dontcha love it?

That is really nice of you to say. We hope so too. DH and I will sit down and discuss it again tonight. I know he is right when he says that it is already hard to accept that we are paying just about the same for Pop Century that we are paying for the Hard Rock Hotel due to the great promotion Universal is offering. But he knows that our daughter just was so in love with Disney last year. We can always do Universal in the summer because of the FOTL passes, but Disney in the summer is just so hot. Oh well..we still have time. I just hope that they offer the same deal as last year. It will certainly make a little 8 year old girl I know very happy!

The way I see this FD issue with the limited rooms - most of the general public doesn't even KNOW about FD to begin with. Just yesterday friends of ours , that plan on going in Sept, have made no plans at all yet and had no idea about specials like the FD (and I didn't tell them either - friendship has its limits). SO - knock out the large portion of vacationers that don't know about FD, combined with those that plan by the seat of their pants, and it seems like there's a pretty small percentage that are trying to get rooms during FD that actually know about it.

And those people, who are following threads like this and getting fed wonderful information and helpful hints, shouldn't really be worried about getting what they want. Now myself, I'm calling the first day, and so are the other few hundred or so following threads like this. It just seems like with all of the rooms available for the promotion vs. the limited number of people that want them, there should be able to accommodate everyone.

People have also stated that they called last year in June for resorts like POP and POR and had no problems getting the promotion.

I say, let everyone know about FD - after we've all got OUR ressie's confirmed for FD:thumbsup2

Sounds good to me!

Melanie- just curious how your DD was chosen for Beauty and the Beast. Were you at the front of the line or almost at the front? I have heard that if you are not the first young girl in line, you have no chance.

Funny story- we were getting in line for the show a few years ago. We were one of the first ones, but there were about 10 people in front of us. We saw them pick out the girl that accepts the rose, and apparently the girl right behind her was NOT happy. I got the impression her mom must have promised it to her or something, because she turned to her mom with a pretty angry look and threw a BIG fit.

Ok, maybe it isn't that funny that a child threw a fit, but it was sure interesting.

I really don't know. We were going in for our second time that day :lmao: and my husband and son were going to join us this time. We were just standing there and the CM just approached her. I tell her it was the ears that I had bought her. ;) If you would like info on the ears I bought her PM me and I will give you the link where I got them from. Every where we went we were approached and asked where she got her ears! It was really a wonderful day...Belle is her favorite princess. She was also picked on our last day at the Garden in MK where Belle tells her story. She was picked to be Papa in that show. She wasn't wearing the ears that day though!:lmao:

So, this post has gotten kind of long (in just 2 days)...tried to sift through it to find my answer...

Do we have a guesstimated date for release of Free Dining to Disney Visa holders?

Either Monday May 3 or the Thursday before.. And ALL OF THIS is a guess. :)

Is the extra money from the actually paying for the upgrade from QS to Regular dining or is that the price including FD? Just curious. I went last year on the 4/3....that was a HUGE savings!

I think it is because it is because we are going 10/1-10/8 instead of last year we went 9/26-10/3 and my son is now 11, and to upgrade the dining plan. My son turning 11 is only $35 more, but the room and dining plan are over $400 more total. :scared1:
