Ok I have a "different" question for you! If we stay at a moderate and free dining is announced and we want the QSDP instead of the regular DDP, would they allow that or would we have to stay with the regular DDP. I'm happy with either ,but we did enjoy the QSDP in may and were looking forward to it again. Has anyone ever done this?

You can use a table service credit for a counter service meal, so in essence yes.

2008 DDP

Awesome detailed history and I'm glad to read that I did remember correctly that Pop Century was among the first resorts to disappear each year.

And the other one is consistently the standard room at WL. In fact in 2008 a friend of mine was trying to book WL and the standard rooms were gone at 7:40AM!!!:scared1:

And as an aside to a fellow "CanadianGuy", did you notice the Canadian Dollar closed higher than the U.S. dollar today.:thumbsup2 Great news since I still have a 5000US$ balance to pay on my August trip.

How does this work if I have already booked my stay for Aug 22-30? Will I be able to get the free dining even though I've already booked it?? Would there be a refund of some sort?? I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation!

I dont know if this has been answered for you or not yet, but I ran the numbers for us. We went last year to Pop from Sept 26-Oct 3. We had Free Dining and the cost for 2 adults and 2 children was $1562.00. If we went this year from October 1-October 8 and got QSFD for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 11 and 8) the cost is $1832.21 to upgrade to FD the cost is $2056.21. To upgrade our resort to a moderate (Port Orleans Riverside) with FD is $2340. I just spoke to DH about the cost, and neither one of us is willing to pay $500 more than we paid last year for the same trip. We are willing to pay the $1832.21 for POP with FD but not POP with QSFD. I hope they have the same offer as last year...if not...we have to keep our plans to go see Harry Potter!

what part of the package went up $270 from last year? Seems like an awful big jump for basically the same trip. Not doubting your word, just wondering.

Can you add FD online to an existing reservation? :confused3 :surfweb:The thing I dread most is the darn 20 questions you have to answer before you get to a person , when you call on the phone! It will take forever to get through to someone at 7:00am with all those darn questions! :headache:

Can you go the last week of September(sept24-oct1)...at least then your room would be at value season rate rather than regular season...
value season weekday/weeknight $82/$92
regular season weekday/weeknight $105/$115

If you could go it would cost about the same "upgrading" to reg plan during value season than going with QS during reg season in Oct...just a thought...I didn't know if you wrer able to go in Sept versus Oct.

This was the Bounce Back promo! Might help with the dates!

Yes..I know that was the bounceback offer. We had that same flyer in our room last year. I was just saying I hope this is the offer for the fall this year. If it is the QSDP no Disney for us. :sad2:

There are a couple things to consider...
-The package needs to be booked at rack rate to qualify.
-The resort/room you're in will need to be part of the FD promo (as it is not full availability...there's only a certain number allocated at the resorts). In this case, they may recommend switching resorts.

But ultimately the thing to remember is that there is no guarantee that you'll be able to add FD to an existing reservation. Some of us have already booked hoping we'll be able to add it on, but it's not a definite. If you can't, be prepared to cancel the existing ressie and rebook if it's important to you to receive FD.

ETA: I completely missed that you asked if you could add it online to an existing reservation until I saw hkeller27's response. In which case I'd have to agree and say no you can't. You would need to call.

Are the CMs helpful when you call? Will they try to work the numbers with you/for you to help you find the savings? Or should I do that myself beforehand? We're reserved at POR. Is that usually included in the free dining offer?

I wish we could. However my children are in Year round school. Their track out period is October 1-October 8. We would be happy to pull them out a day or two early for a Disney vacation but not a week. We already have reservations at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. We have the promotion that they are running which is 7 nights for the price of 4. So the HRH is $1052 for 7 nights. We also already bought our park tickets at AAA before the price hike so those were $400. I know the season changes, so DH is more than happy to pay the $1832.00 that it would cost us to go...but it has to include FD, not QSFD. We also buy MNSSHP tickets on top of our vacation. So paying $2056 for the same vacation we had last year that cost us $1526, we aren't willing to do. Too much of a jump in price.

How helpful a CM is really depends on the CM you get. Some are marvelous...some, not so much. Personally, I'd figure out the math beforehand so I know right away when I call what I want to do. Saves everyone time and any potential hassle.

Generally speaking, all the Disney resorts are included in the promo. The question is how many rooms and what room types have been allocated to each resort. That is what we don't know.

My guess is the time frame that we are going. Last year we went Sept 26-Oct 3. I think it is value season until Oct 1. So the nightly rate was probably a little less. Plus they are probably charging a little more this year. I don't know. My AAA receipt from last year has the exact total at $1562.74 for Pop Century 26SEPT09 03OCT09 7 NIGHTS 8 Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket Plus Dining.

I ran the numbers on the Disney website and the dates Oct 1- Oct 8 for Pop Century, same tickets and no dining is $1832.21. If you add dining...it is over $2700.

No, you can't make the change online. You'll have to call and have the CM add on the code.

They don't want all of us having THAT much power now :rotfl:

Ok, I have a question, instead of just lurking and commenting........

If I booked through a TA and paid my $200 deposit to the TA, can I call Disney myself and have my ressie switched? For example, I currently have ressies as ASMu, but if FD comes out, my budget can swing going to a mod. Do I have to do this through the TA or since I have my ressie number, Disney themselves can do it for me. I'm just concerned that I won't be able to reach my TA in time and that I'll miss out on getting FD with POR!!!! Anyone??? :confused3

my advice would be to call disney and make a new FD reservation and then cancel the existing one when you get a hold of your TA and either have your deposit w/the TA transferred to the new ressie or refunded... then transfer your new ressie to your TA, which will then give her/him control of your ressie again...

clear as mud?

Lordy, forgive me with all the questions!
Will I have to cancel my WHOLE reservation, and start all over or just my dining plan?? If my hotel of my current reservation is the correct hotel (crossing fingers that it is), then shouldn't it be easier to just switch the dining plan?

Again, it all depends if there are spots available at your resort. For example, if your room type isn't available for FD or your resort's FD rooms are completely full...there are two things that can happen:
-you'd have to cancel and rebook
-you'll be recommended to another resort in which case they'd likely only modify the ressie, not cancel it

Having an existing reservation doesn't guarantee you a spot with FD, nor does it promise that even if there are FD spots at your resort, that your room is part of it. Now it really shouldn't be a problem, but don't be shocked if they do have to rebook the whole thing. It's all about availability.

Ok I have waded through 18 pages of this thread and now I'm even more confused than is my natural state.

I have a reservation at ASMu with DP already booked for 9/10-18. I booked with the 20% pin so didn't pay rack rate. I have all my ADR's made and they are connected to my reservation. I have a Disney Visa but did not use it to book. IF the rumor is true and free dining is offered, I ran the numbers and I can book the same trip at CSR (is that how you shorten Coronado Springs?) or CBR (Carribean Beach) for almost the same amount as I planned to spend.

Sooo, to finally get to the question, if I upgrade to the moderate with the free dining do I lose my ADR's?

Thanks for wading through the back story!
:goodvibes
