2010 cruise info

Congratulations! I'm actually wondering the same thing! We're interested in maybe doing the westbound TA, but we'll have a one year old, and the thought of flying to Barcelona makes me a bit nervous.

We actually were on the 6/16/07 Med cruise, but I don't remember seeing any babies. Now whether that's because they weren't there or just because I wasn't paying attention, I'm not sure :)
I know! Traveling with a baby changes everything but I'm excited to tackle the challenges. :goodvibes Congrats to you too! The way I figure it we want to get this baby use to traveling early. I just don't know if a trip to Europe when she's so young is the best way to do that.:confused3 :confused3

I looked at the prices and they are showing ranges

for example: for the 5 Night, Category 11, it says: $899 - $1659/person....any ideas what price range we'll get if we book the 14th?

I'm not even sure what to think about that gigantic price difference! I can afford $899 per person, but there is no way that I can afford $1659 per person, especially since there are five of us. (It may be time to forget DCL and look at another cruise line . . . again.)

I completely agree! I think the possibility that this could be the baby's first flight, too, makes me even more nervous. I think I'd rather go for one of the caribbean cruises, since it would be a shorter flight (or we could even drive) to get there. I'm just super impatient waiting for the regular schedule and pricing, and that westbound TA looks so darn appealing :rotfl:

So now we have a week to decide lol! We were wondering what sort of activities take place on sea days for the teens --

We were originally going to book another cruise for December 2009 where we were going to allow our dd who will be 13 then to bring a friend along on.

Now we're considering the westbound transatlantic in 2010, she will be 14 then, but are concerned that she might get bored with that many sea days in a row if she doesn't find a friend on board to hang out with.

We would allow her to bring a friend, but I'm thinking her friends' parents won't be too keen on dishing out airfare to Barcelona (we'd pick up the cruise tab), and having their child miss two weeks of school.

So tell me those that went on the 2007 with teens, what did they do?

We think we will be on this cruise - our daughter will be 15 (barely - by one month) and my son will turn 13 on the cruise. I can tell you on the WB PC cruise this year they found things to do as well as we hung out a lot playing games and just having family time. The kids loved being able to go to the movies too.

I was looking at the 2010 European cruises and daydreaming. The funny thing is my DS 13 had said a couple of years ago he wanted to cruise to Russia. :lmao: And now-we can! Where would you fly to if the ship is departing from Dover?

Gatwick or Heathrow, in London -- I believe Gatwick is slightly closer.

Either is ok, as the crow flys Gatwick is just a bit closer, but I would only recommend if by car, if train then Heathrow is better.

Stansted is also an option. Some USA airlines fly there and most likly slightly closer than the others and a good Motorway route via M11/M25/M20.

Does anyone know what time on the 14th you will be able to book the 2010 cruises?

Thank you for posting, Stace, now I, remember posting about Baltic and Northern Europe in May, now someone else here flamed me in May saying I wasnt correct , Cheryl knows who.!

you are usually always correct. i think you know someone who works for dcl that is high up

Hi posted this on another thread, maybe someone might have some info here:

I'm also anxiously awaiting the regular 2010 cruise prices. Hopefully someone can give me an approx idea of pricing. We are looking at either doing a Thanksgiving week cruise or New Year's Eve cruise, historically what have been the 1st tier prices? Cat 10's or Cat 9's 2 adults and 2 kids.

I was hoping they would have announced the prices before the booking begins so I can have a little bit of time to review with the other families (it will be at least 2 other families, 3 cabins traveling) so I figure if I can get an estimate we can tell if New Year's is within budget.

I priced these holidays out for 2009 and see that thanksgiving is cheaper, but if 1st tier pricing for NYE is within budget we would rather do that.

Also, does anyone know what time DCL opens up their phone lines for booking?

TIA!!

Well its funny I first posted Late April and again in May this year that it would be the Baltic, I posted it in a bold statement not speculation but was flamed for it.

Later I then posted it would have more cruises, a series of cruises, before and after the Baltic, and said Madeira /Lisbon / Gibraltar would be cruise ports.

I said it would be Russia, St Petersburg, some said do to the policital situation that wouldnt happen.

I got release date of information correct to within 12 hours, but the cruise release date wrong by a week.

I did say it would call in the UK, I thought it was Southampton or Harwich not Dover so got that wrong and the Med 10/11 extended stay from April to September was a surprise to me.

On posts on the 2010, I also mentioned Malta and Tunis as alternative ports for the 2010 Meds. (But was wrong on Palma)

But not bad ??? Got most of it right.

Does anyone know what time on the 14th you will be able to book the 2010 cruises?

For those of you in the know...would Disney provide or help arrange transportation from the airport to Dover? I would feel more comfortable knowing Disney is taking care of that detail. Thanks!

Does anyone know what time reservations will open on the 14th? I am assuming that the DVC points will come out later. I wonder if they will allow us to book and then convert later when the points come out. They did that for the last Med cruises. Here's a good luck to everyone! :thumbsup2

I think 8am-Eastern

Yes, you will probably be able to purchase transfers at some later date. Also there will probably be pre/post cruise accomodations available throuh Disney. That is how they did it in 2007.

DCL transfers are often good value, the pre approved Disney hotels are expensive, but transfers might only go to/from these.

I bet they will have a DLP pre/post add on.

I'm confused on this one. Normally I can figure it all out myself but I have heard about a special Christmas cruise for 2010. Will that open up on 10-14 as well? Anyone know the ports of call for it?
