2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

Today I contacted the Sales Director at Disney’s Military Sales Department to see if there were any official updates.

I posted full details on my site but here is a quick brief:

The two offers (Oct 10-1 Oct 11 and the extension through 30 Sept 2012) are separate offers and military members are eligible for 6 tickets per offer.

Tickets being sold now have expiration dates of 30 Sept 2012, but that doesn’t exclude the member from purchasing again for the use in the following year.

WDW blockout dates: July 4, 2011, December 26 – 31, 2011, April 1 – 12, 2012 and July 4, 2012 at Magic Kingdom Park. DL and resort blockout dates coming soon.

Sounds like the transition will be seamless. :thumbsup2

Kind of OT, but an interesting article for your blog would be the economical way one (military eligible) can get married at WDW. A lot of women would love to be a "Disney Bride", but it costs THOUSANDS of dollars for a Disney Fairytale Wedding. Many don't know that just having someone in the military to sponsor them, and attend, can enable them to have a WDW wedding at SOG.

Also, thanks for clarifing! We missed the last offer by days last year....we wanted to go during F & W, and just happened to fall in between the expiration date of the previous offer, and the new offer! :headache: Still wouldn't have given up the F & W though, it totally rocked, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

Great news!! :cheer2:

Now, I have a question. I think I may need CF's guidance with this one, or someone who is familiar with SOG.

DH purchased our Military Salute tickets today at the MWR office. The only tickets that were in stock were the Park Hopper w/ WP, ($165) which was perfect because it was what we wanted. Here is the deal though.. we need to buy 4 more tickets (base w/ hopper) for DH's family that will be joining us on our vaca (we leave Fri and they JUST called bc they decided they'll be going to Disney). His BIL is also Army & will be purchasing 6 base w hopper tix at SOG (tax free) for the rest of the inlaws. Can DH purchase the 4 additional tix that are available under his name at SOG or will we have to buy them at Disney?

Second question: Does DH & BIL have to pay for all tickets with a card in their name or can the family members who will be using the tickets pay for them?

I've read CF's ticket post and do understand that these can be purchased on separate occasions, but our frugal family would love to save $$ by getting those tickets tax free at SOG.

1. I have no idea what the military does. I know that if someone came to my window with two Salute tickets in hand and needed to buy four more, and activate all six I would have no problem.

2. At a window I can accept up to three "types" of payment for one purchase transaction. Each debit or credit card or Resort ID used is one transaction; cash is one transaction, and multiple Disney Gift Cards are one transaction. I have never had a problem with a purchase being on two or three different cards.

Thank you SO much! Your help is greatly appreciated :flower3:

Thanks Ches...DH and I are definitely going in Dec, but we aren't sure who all will be joining us yet. I refuse to buy tickets that "may or may not" be used.

Oh I like that idea, that's a really good point. Thanks

So, I guess the last clear-up that needs to happen (for me, at least) is whether or not I can get tickets re-issued with the new expiration date for tickets that were issued before the extension was announced.

AND, would the military member need to be present for that to happen?

I purchased a ticket for each of my sisters last November, and they only used 2 days. Can they (individually, without me) go and get the tickets re-issued with the updated expiration date? Or does it even require a re-issue?

CF? Steve? :D

Even if the tickets have a printed expiration date of October 1, 2011, they have automatically been extended until September 30, 2012. So no replacement is needed.

Ok, just to make sure I got this right. We used 5 of the military salute tickets in March. If we were to take another trip between Oct. 2011 and Sept. 30, 2012 we are eligible for another set of 6 right? Its confusing the way they have it worded this time. Last time it appeared to be a new offer, this year they have used the word "extended" which I think throws everyone off.

And to confuse things even farther, since we only used 5 in March does that mean with this extension we can get one more to use by Sept. 2012, giving us a total of 7???? Does that make sense???

Can DH purchase the 4 additional tix that are available under his name at SOG or will we have to buy them at Disney?
At Shades of Green they don't ask if you have purchased them elsewhere as well so you can simply ask to purchase 4 tickets there and do so without any problem
Second question: Does DH & BIL have to pay for all tickets with a card in their name or can the family members who will be using the tickets pay for them?
When we purchased tickets there a week ago we put 4 tickets on one card and 2 on another and they had no problem with different people paying for the tickets.

The above is from my experience from May 9th at Shades of Green.

Right now Steve says (on his blog and posts here) that he has talked to the "Director of Military Sales".

At this time the only official word internal at WDW is specifically that "the program has been extended until September 30, 2012" and does not state that the activation counters will be reset to zero at any time.

Until there is an official internal Disney announcement, it is all rumor!

So, to answer your question, at this time consider that additional tickets may not be possible.

For our 7 day stay at SOG and the World, DD and I will be purchasing 4 Military Salutes w/PH, two for her and two for me. It is my understanding that we can activate all of the tix at once, each of us use one of our respective tix for the first 4 days, then use the other two tix for the remaining days. Is this correct? Did I make this up?:rotfl: Is it possible to OD on the Disboards and start hallucinating?!:upsidedow

Subscribing because I have the exact same question only for a 12 day trip. Want to buy 6 and each of us use 3 of the tix

We just returned and bought all 6 of our disney 4 day park hopper tickets. We did this because there are 3 of us and we were going to be there for 7 days. So each of us used 2 of the tickets.

We actually bought 3 - Park hoppers & 3- Park hopper and more (for a total of 6). We did this because we wanted to visit a water park and Disney Quest. It worked out perfect for us.

We had purchased 6 tix last year which we are using this week. We were able to buy 6 more with the 2012 expiration date. The CM said he couldn't find anything in the rules that said we couldn't do that.

Were you able to activate the second set of 6?

Did you activate all 6 of the tickets at once? Our plan is to arrive at SOG on Sunday afternoon, get our room, then purchase all of our tickets. We don't have park plans for that day so, after a dinner at Ohana, we will stop by the TTC to have them all activated so that we can hit the MK bright and early Monday morning. I would like to activate all of the tickets at once and then be done with it.
