2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

We have finally nailed down our dates to 4/30-5/8. DBF is going to be going back to school and this is the only time we will be able to go unless it is right in the middle of summer and I didn't want to go during Summer. I am so excited and can't wait to book. I have been doing some Disney shopping. I have picked up about 3 shirts from the Disney Store and at Walmart I found a cute Tink hat and about 5 shirts for myself. How early do people start TR around here? I am still in the planning process but it might be fun to get started on a PreTR

Well I have already started on my pre-trip report and I am not going until Sept. 09! I am only updating it a couple times a month right now until things start happening like actually booking the trip;) I know it is very early but it is a fun thing to do while waiting on the time to fly by.

I grew restless about when the 2009 packages were being released, so I used the WDW website contact info and e-mailed my questions (I asked about '09 rates, and the possibility of DDP changes). This was their response:

"Each year, our Product Development Department reviews all components
offered under each package name. This determines the packages and
components included for the following year. At this time, room rates
and packages for 2009 have not been announced. Please check back in
mid-August for updated information."

Hopefully they'll be ready by mid-August :yay: ...but no DDP info.

Have to laugh because I seriously thought about picking up the phone today and calling just to see what they would say. I know it will be August but I am like a little kid before Christmas and the waiting is killing me. I am ready to get to the next stage of planning this trip.

Thank you so much....I was starting to go out of my mind waiting for the information...I have an idea of how much I will need but it is not the same as knowing exactly how much needs to be saved...I also have started to stop eating out and buying what is not needed and have also started a change tin decorated with disney....actually I started the change tin back in January because we were supposed to go in April 2009.......

I have been doing the samething when it comes to saving. When I am shopping I ask myself do I really want to spend the money on that or wait and spend it at Disney. Most of the time Disney wins out. We also have a big plastic container that we put all change and extra money in. We started it over a year ago and we are not going to count it until a month before our trip. All of that money is "extra" spending money for Disney.

Argh..I really hope it's more like August 5th than mid-August!! We leave for Myrtle Beach on August 15th and I'd really like to have it booked before then!

I'm not saving spending $$ quite yet for our trip - saving for MB fun extras right now. Our tax return should cover our entire package, off-site hotel stays and gasoline. The only $$ we'll really need will be for meals on the way down and back, possibly our T-rex meal, tips?? (probably, but hopefully not!) and souveniers. We're not big souvenier people (can I even spell it?) so that won't be too much. Plus I'll have to buy some things before we go. But most everything will be covered by the tax return.

I bought a few tshirts and some bucket hats for the boys at disney store this weekend. They were all $2.99 each. I'm saving it all for our trip.

I also use the Disney VISA card all month, then pay it off each month and use the reward dollars toward my trip. That adds up to a good bit when you pay monthly bills, groceries, etc on the credit card. (just make sure to pay it off every month so you don't pay any interest).

Does anyone else have a "disney box" packed with items you bring every year? I've got a huge plastic tub filled with stroller rain covers, rain ponchos, tabletoppers, stickers for the kids, ziplock bags, etc... I add to it all year long so I can find everything when I need it for each trip.

I really hope the packages come out before the END of August. I'm so ready to start planning for this trip!

Yep, I have my box and it is full. Need to find a bigger one.

When i signed on today i noticed that my bookmark for this thread had disappeared (bird-brained) took me forever to find out where it is hiding, glad i found it cause if feel like i can be here and not have my family/friends roll their eyes when I talk about a holiday that is close to 18 months away

I have just started a "disney box" to fill with things for our trip, I am collecting things like sunscreen and flip flops and other summer things, since that can not be found anywhere in Alaska after Aug. I like the idea of adding other things to it to, will make it seem fun and keep the excitement up with buying thiings for the trip and it will help with the expense.
I also really hope the packages come out before the en of august, I am ready to start the next phase of this trip and with my tickets already bought, reserving a room will so make it seem real.

Nov 30th-Dec 11th '09 here.

I've got 20 days till I can make my 499 day out room only ressie, the trip will be more real to me and DW then, not to mention when packages come out.

I have started a Disney box too. Before I put it in the box I keep checking the expiration dates on stuff like chapstick and sunscreen to make sure it will stay good up to our trip, hehe.

Why so long to come out with 2009 pricing. All the other resorts in the Orlando area have pricing why can't they. Don't they realize people like to know how much they need to save.

Also has anyone booked with AAA and received this special parking ticket? How does it work?

I see alot of people that stayed at the Pop Century really liked it. We went in June 2006 and I think I am in the minority of not having much good to say about the Pop. We must have hit it at the wrong time or something. I have also stayed at the All Star Movies and wished we had stayed there instead.

Mrs Grumpy I read your trip report. Congrats on the weight loss:cool1: I just had my third child in December and now I feel it is time for some serious dieting. If I can lose at least 4 lbs a month that would be about 32 lbs when we go to Disney.

We'll be at the World the week of 30 Nov 09. Our very first trip was this past May, and we're hooked, sinker and all!

I'm looking forward to the packages coming out next month. I'll feel like I can start planning again, lol.

Thanks for reading my pre-trip report. I know I started a little bit early on it. I haven't added to it in the month. Need to do that. Been too busy with work.

We booked through AAA in 2007, and will again this time -as soon as those darned packages come out!! Anways...we drove down, so we used the AAA parking pass for both AK and MGM (at the time), we used the monorail for MK and Epcot. Basically, it gives you access to a lot that's closer, it's behind the handicap parking I believe. At AK, I think we were pretty close, at MGM it was still quite a walk, but I think that's just the way the lot is set up. You just show it to the parking people (that are taking $$ from off-site guests) and they tell you where to go. I think there was a painted line that we had to follow.

I already have my rooms book with WDW but I might change to AAA if we get that pass. My only concern is we are using our Disney Rewards to pay for some of the cost and I am not sure we can use it with AAA. When the new rates do finally come out I will calling ASAP. It's killing me waiting for the prices to come out.

I went to the post office yesterday and had a box from Disney Parks. I won a Year of a Million Dreams Mickey Ears.   We have been sending in post cards all year and this is the first thing we have won. My DH wasn't too thrilled but I wore those ears around all night. :rotfl:
