2009 Dining Plan Costs

Here is the Complete List that were removed from 2008:

Boulangerie Pâtisserie (L,D)
Cantina de San Angel (L,D)
Lotus Blossom Cafe (L,D)
Tangierine Cafe (L,D)
Yorkshire County Fish Shop (L,D)
Chefs de France (L,D)
Nine Dragons Restaurant (L,D)
Restaurant Marrakesh (L,D)
San Angel Inn Restaurante (L,D)
Teppan Edo (L,D)
Tokyo Dining (L,D)
Tutto Italia Ristorante (L,D)

Also in the 2008 plan it states that appetizers are available for kids ages 3-9:confused3 but when we were there in Feb we didn't get any appetizers for the kids.

I hope Disney rethinks this. Maybe they're not on the list because the 2009 packages were just released.

As OP have stated, with the non-Disney owned restaurants (think most of WS), they have to renew their contacts each year to decide if they want to be part of the dining plan.

Last year they didn't even announce the dining plan until much later - we were going in January 2008 this year and couldn't get an answer on the plans, restaurants or costs until late in 2007.

I wouldn't get to stressed right now, they will be adding to the list for the next few months (I'd assume) and you can always opt out of the DDP closer to your vacation ate.

:confused3

I noticed on the plans they have added a junior price ages 10-17. What would the price for them be per night??? I'm not a accountant or a math wiz!!!!!! Also do they order off the adult meal still???

I didn't know there was a junior price. Where did you see that?

I am sure they will be on board in time. As I recall, they were one of the last ones on board last year too.

The Coronado Springs Resort is completely left off the list too. Does this mean that nothing at that resort is included... or just not yet. No Pepper Market could be a major blow.

I'm hoping the restaurants that aren't on the list get added back on. Could it be that some of those restaurants are not owned or operated by Disney?

Most, if not all, of those listed are not Disney owned. Disney has to re-negotiate the contract each year with the third party vendor before adding them to the plan.

As many others have said, I wouldn't worry as I don't think there will be a problem.

In the past junior pricing meant the person paid the adult price for tickets and dining but didn't have to pay the extra adult charge for the hotel room.

I'm sure you're right. I won't stress it :lmao:

My travel agent quoted me these rates for the meal plans (didn't ask about Deluxe...sorry)

Quick Service plan
$29.99/adult
$8.99/child

Regular Dining Plan
$39.99/adult
$10.99/child

Question is...which is better value? Doing Quick service and paying OOP for the TS meals OR doing the regular plan and paying OOP for your extra CS meal (if you have one) per day? Most people eat 3 meals a day...Sure wish they had a plan wtih 2CS and 1TS a day that wasn't $70!! I know I will not eat $70 worth of food each day. That would require 2 table service and I think most people with kids cannot do that each day. Too much time lost in the parks!

Does anyone have a spread sheet they can share? I'm not good at designing those things but would love to plug in a few scenerios to see how things shape up.

I did one for 2008 that I shared here and Robinb finally published on her website to save my poor fingers from emailing another 1,000 (Seriously I sent over 1,000 out :) ).

I am working on revising mine for 2009, but am busy with work today. I should have it ready in the next few days and will check with Robinb if she's willing to host me again.

The appetizers are part of the Kids Complete Meals or Option 1 of the Kids Choice meals. They're generally just veggies, soup or a lettuce salad and they are sometimes served with the meal (instead of prior to the meal as you'd expect an appetizer to be served)

In the past junior pricing meant the person paid the adult price for tickets and dining but didn't have to pay the extra adult charge for the hotel room.

This is exactly what it means. The junior package price means that the person it applies to does not count as a child for tickets or dining, but will not be charged the extra adult charge in a resort room. They can't just be booked as adults, because if they bump up the room occupancy to more than 2 in a room, booking them as adults would trigger the extra adult in the room charge. Tickets and dining will still be assessed at the 10 and over price.

Tutto Italia Ristorante (L,D)

None of these restaurants are owned by Disney, that's why they are not on the 2009 list. Their contracts have not been finalized. If it goes the way it has gone in past years, you will not see a complete finalized list until sometime in November.

The QS plan would be more appealing to me if you could use the refillable mug in the parks as well as your resort;) . As it is I wouldnt mind paying the 10pp dif. to upgrade but I would probably shorten my stay next year to 4 or 5 nights at a value instead of 7 at a deluxe.... Maybe this will turn out for the better, 4 or 5 nights in disney with the kids and a cruise for the adults later in the year:cool1:

I still think the QS price is a little steep. I understand that for some it might work out well so it is good to have this option. For me, I don't think it would work not at $29.99 a day. While some CS are a little more expensive, most are only around 8-9 for the meal. Of course, it is a little more when you add a drink. CS desserts imo aren't that great and aren't worth the price WDW charges for them. If I were paying OOP, I would probably do without the dessert making the QS plan not that great of a value really.

I also think for $9 more, I could have a TS meal instead of a CS. While this doesn't appeal to many, it sure does to me.

I spoke to a CM today about the QS Plan and she would only say it would be "less than $30" for adults and "less than $10" for kids. I asked if she could tell me the exact prices, but she said that theur legal department forbid them to quote the exact price right now, due to the fact that all of the contracts have not yet been finalized. I guess that makes sense?:confused3

I, too, thought that the QS price was a little much, but I think we usually spend around $13-15 per person, so it's not too bad. I do like the idea of pre-paying for meals.

Oh, I also asked her if passholders can buy the plan without buying a ticket, and she said yes.:thumbsup2

I found the junior price when I pressed the Magic your way package 2009 on the top of the main disboard page. Then I clicked on the regular dining for 2009 and there was 3 prices, adults, juniors and children. This is new to me!! I have always paid adult price for my 12 year old and now it is lower???

I was under the impression that the junior pricing on those packages has to do with hotel, not with the dining plan. A 12 year old is still considered an adult on the dining plan.

Disney Deluxe Dining Plan for extra savings and convenience

Save on meals during your vacation and enjoy delectable dining at over 100 select table-service, quick-service, Disney Character Dining and Signature Dining Experience restaurant locations throughout Walt Disney World® Resort.

For each night of your package, each Guest in your party enjoys:

* 3 Meals
Choose from select Walt Disney World Resort table-service and quick-service restaurants for all 3 of your meals.
OK, now I'm a bit confused. Does this mean that if I wanted to, I could use all my meal credits for TS? Since we have a couple of Signature Dining booked, that may make some sense for us.

Why does this have to be so complicated???

That is exactly what it means. With the DxDP, you can have 3 TS meals a day. If you can't fit a TS into your schedule at some point, you can eat at any of the CS locations also.

Most people seem to be doing a breakfast or early lunch and a Signature Dining experience each day to use up their credits. We are on DxDP and that is what we are doing.
