2009 Dining Plan Costs

where are you people getting that the free dine will be the CS plan? They JUST released the new plan, how could you possibly KNOW that the free dine will be the CS plan?

Deluxe dining includes the app.

The 2009 pdf link on this thread indicates for the Table Service meals appe is for children 3-9 years. Unless I am missing something and for the deluxe this is different?

Does anyone have more info on this? Please and thank you:surfweb:

They don't 'know', they are speculating. I'll be very curious myself to see what Disney does.

Ok, so I priced out a typical day doing the CS plan

Breakfast at Food Court -1 snack credit

Cinnamon Roll -$3.59
Refillable Mug of Coffee- Free

Lunch at Pecos Bill-1 CS cedit

#4 Chicken Wrap - Served chilled with seasoned chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese tossed with PECOS house dressing served with your choice of french fries or Apple Slices. $7.59

Carrot Cake - Carrot Cake - $3.59

Soda $2.39

Dinner at Cosmic Rays- 1 CS cedit

Half Chicken & BBQ Rib Combo - Served with mashed potatoes and a seasonal vegetable. - $13.99

Triple Chocolate Cake - Triple Chocolate Cake - $3.59

Soda $2.39

1 Snack Credit- Dole Whip Float $3.99

Total for the day OOP would be $41.12. So even at $30/day its a good deal.

My travel agent quoted me these rates for the meal plans (didn't ask about Deluxe...sorry)

Quick Service plan
$29.99/adult
$8.99/child

Regular Dining Plan
$39.99/adult
$10.99/child

Question is...which is better value? Doing Quick service and paying OOP for the TS meals OR doing the regular plan and paying OOP for your extra CS meal (if you have one) per day? Most people eat 3 meals a day...Sure wish they had a plan wtih 2CS and 1TS a day that wasn't $70!! I know I will not eat $70 worth of food each day. That would require 2 table service and I think most people with kids cannot do that each day. Too much time lost in the parks!

Does anyone have a spread sheet they can share? I'm not good at designing those things but would love to plug in a few scenerios to see how things shape up.

Plus tax would be charged on all those things, right?

true so $41 plus tax, granted most entrees would be around the $8 mark rather than the $14 Cosmic Rays entree. But we always eat at Rays and Tangierine Cafe were a Shwarma Platter runs you about the same.

I was just going to go look at a menu to see the cost. I would have picked the EXACT same things:eek: I too, was going to mention you'd have to add in tax..:upsidedow

I plan to do a spreadsheet, but I'm leaving town for a few days (as soon as I turn the computer off), so it's gonna be a while. I'm sure somebody will have it done before I do, and I'd love to see it if so.

My estimates for the QSDP are about the same as yours. I think the value is at least $30. We can actually probably work more CS meals out of it since some of the meal portions are large enough to share. No one in my group is interested in doing TS every day, so I'm fairly sure that we'll opt for the new one and pay OOP using the DDE card for a couple or three character meals for my grandchildren. Those 2-3 TS meals would give us 2-3 more QS meals, and I'm looking at the possibility that we could actually end up getting three meals a day with it :thumbsup2 Don't most people eat three meals a day? :confused3

Did you notice that they removed a ton of EPCOT restaurants?
Teppan Edo, Chef's de France, San Angel for example.:confused3

Here is the Complete List that were removed from 2008:

Boulangerie Pâtisserie (L,D)
Cantina de San Angel (L,D)
Lotus Blossom Cafe (L,D)
Tangierine Cafe (L,D)
Yorkshire County Fish Shop (L,D)
Chefs de France (L,D)
Nine Dragons Restaurant (L,D)
Restaurant Marrakesh (L,D)
San Angel Inn Restaurante (L,D)
Teppan Edo (L,D)
Tokyo Dining (L,D)
Tutto Italia Ristorante (L,D)

Also in the 2008 plan it states that appetizers are available for kids ages 3-9:confused3 but when we were there in Feb we didn't get any appetizers for the kids.

this isn't good:sad2:

Dont forget that last year it took a lot of restaurants 2-3 weeks AFTER the plan was announced to get on board. Teppen Edo was the last holdout last year but they were on the 08 plan.

It takes them some time to get contracts taken care of with the places that are not owned by Disney. They all eventually got added back to the list last year. So hopefully they will all get added back this year. I would not worry about it :)

The Coronado Springs Resort is completely left off the list too. Does this mean that nothing at that resort is included... or just not yet. No Pepper Market could be a major blow.

With three tiers, I wonder if they'll offer different "free" DDP with each level of hotel room during Sept next year? You know, free CS DDP for guests staying at the value hotels, free standard DDP for guests staying at moderates (or condos/cabins?) and free deluxe DDP for guests staying at deluxe hotels?

I could see them doing this if they also required a full length-of-stay MYW park pass purchase rather than allowing for only a single day ticket purchase. I do NOT know anything about how (or even IF) they plan to do free DDP next year... just speculating. Any thoughts?

Counter Service dining has gone up percentage wise more than any other meal type at WDW in the last 12 to 18 months. I noticed it last April when we paid $37 for 2 adults and 1 child at Restaurantasaurus for entrees, drinks, and a dessert each.

The $29.99 price tag isn't that bad as long as you maximize your counter service meals and snacks, and use your resort mug frequently.
