2009 Dining Plan Costs

Okay, I was able to price the package for an adult to find the per night price for dining.

this is per ADULT per night of your trip

Quick Service Plan = $29.99
Dining Plan = $39.99
Deluxe = $71.99

That's the way I figured it, too. Until they actually give us a definite figure, I think this is close enough to work with for budget/planning purposes.

DVC members don't buy packages, so my guess is the DVC member site will have the per night price up at some point.

Right now they only have 2008 prices.

I just called DVC, and they said it's not available for 2009 yet. I need to add it to a January package, and he said it's not available.

ANyone have a clue why they are including refillable mugs in the QS plan and Deluxe plan but not the regular plan? Seems a bit unfair to me.

She didn't give exact amounts, but they appear to be right on with what was guessed by others here. Here is the transcript.

Amiko: That is a great choice! In 2009, the difference in price between a Magic Your Way Package and a Magic Your Way Package plus Dining is less than $40 per night per person for ages 10 to adult and less than $11 per night per person for ages 3 to 9. Gratuities are not included and may be paid at your discretion at the dining locations
Amiko: The new Magic Your Way plus Quick Service dining is less than $30 per adult age 10 and older, and less than $9 age 3-9. This plan offers 2 quick-service meals and 2 snacks. It will save you up to 20% on your dining costs. You also get a refillable mug for unlimited refills at your resort.
Amiko: The difference in price between a Magic Your Way Package and a Magic Your Way Package plus Deluxe Dining is less than $70 per person per night for ages 10 and up and less than $20 per person per night for ages 3 to 9. This package includes the Deluxe Dining Plan which provides 3 meals, at either a table service or quick service restaurant, and 2 snacks per person per night of your stay. You also get one Resort mug per person good for soft drink refills at your Disney Resort hotel. Gratuities are not included.

I believe this is Disney's way of saying the price is $39.99/adult and $10.99/child for the dining plan and $29.99/adult and $8.99/child for the quick service plan.

does anyone else think that $30 (or there about) is a bit steep for the quick serve plan? As far as I can tell, most of the quick serve meals end up about $8, snacks are $4 (though often less). That is $24. If the refill mug is $12, then the total is $36. Really, what i think is happening is they are discounting the mug. Since i would never purchase it, it appears that it is only beneficial for someone who is going to consume a lot of soda while at their resort.

I'm sure the quick service plan will appeal to some people, just like all the other levels appeal to different people. Is it possible that Disney is making out better on the QSP than DDP? perhaps, I can't imagine they would come out with this plan if no one was going to use it.

For some, it will be the convenience that they can pre-pay for the meal plan (regardless of what level) instead of paying during vacation.

well, i just was able to do a online vacation quote and the price of the QSP is $30 (give or take a few cents).

I looked back at my actual numbers from the last two trips and found that on days where I had 2 CS meals + 2 snacks, it ran between $19-$24, or $21.50/day. The refillable mug saved me $50 for the week (I was curious, so I counted every refill ) so that value was $7/day. The cost of the mug itself amounts to $2/day based on a 7-day trip. That puts my daily cost at $30.50. If you don't use the mug as much as I did, it obviously wouldn't come out the same. Bottom line--I think it will work for our family trip. Even using DDE for a couple of character meals for the little ones, I think I'll still come out better than with the regular DP (especially since no one in my group wants a TS meal every day), but I need to put it in a spreadsheet to be sure.

my guess was it was initially added to the dlx to give it more value over the regular plan. Now it is also being added to the QSP to help justify the $30 per person/per day cost. without the mug, the QSP would basically break even.

I think the regular plan lost the appetizer and tips to help make it more expensive with out altering the price. (this change was implemented on the 2008 DDP)

I agree about the value of the CS plan. Not sure if it is really that great of a deal. I guess if you ate at Pepper Market every meal!!

I am still deciding which will be the best value for us, deluxe or standard dining. As of right now, the QSP doesn't make sense.

you know free dining is going to be QSP from now on, so to upgrade its going to be alot more now, I paid $32 per night to upgrade to DLX this Sept during free dining, next year it will be around an extra $41.99 per night, not bad if your eating 3 sit downs, appe, dessert..............
