I will tell you the same things I tell the boys:
there are 3 things you need in life, to eat, sleep, and breathe. Everything else is icing on the cake.

You don't really need anything. Besides why aren't you playing with all those Sizzix dies I sent you?!?!?!?

Do I need to ban you from the enabler thread??? ;)

:lmao:
i am so playing with those dies. are ya kiddin'? i'm lovin' them!!!!!
i cant wait to use them all!!

please don't ban me from the enabler thread!!!!!!

I am back. Shew. So I did pretty well at Archivers, I only spent $25, which for me isn't bad considering I really haven't spent any money on scrap supplies all month. I did really well at Michaels also, in and out of there! They didn't have the paper for DD's bday invites, going to have to check Joann's. But I got my Xyron refill and something for DD.

We all seem to be wobbling a bit at the moment. I think it is the realization that the end of the month is here and we have reduced our scrapping spending so effectively. Oh well. Relish your new purchases, then jump right back on until February 29. Remember - there is a prize in the works for the Feb. 29 challenge!!!

I've caught bits and pieces here and there, but I haven't figured it all out.
What is the February 29th challenge?

We get to spend $29 guilt free! I think everyone who is participating, will get their name put in a drawing.

yep, 29 days 29 dollars. And I am going to extend it through the weekend since a lot of you work. You can only spend $29, and we have to see or read what you got.

Do we need some guide lines?

BTW, I now have a complex.

I really do use shopping as therapy, and it is killing me being on this wagon. I walk into a store and hem and haw. I talk to myself. I say self, what would the girls think if you bought that? Do you need that? Would the girls be disappointed in you if you bought something you didn't need? It truly is driving me crazy.

Shopping is my therapy too!!! I think that is why I had a complete meltdown last night - I haven't had my therapy lately! Which is also why I think DH suggested I go use my 30% off coupon so I don't go beserk again tonight! :lmao:

It's not driving me that crazy, but it sure is keeping me in line. When I sorted my colored cardstock yesterday I realized that certain colors are totally gone, like pink (and I am a mom to 2 girls!). I almost used it as an excuse to go shopping, but I don't need pink in particular right now.

I just hope that all of this being good doesn't backfire on me. I'm afraid that when I finally have a free day I'll go nuts with spending:).

It is really hard!
There were some, well lets say things, as this is the BAN Wagon SUPPORT not enabler thread, things I saw at Big Lots. I picked them up. I looked them over, and over, and over. Thought, well, I could buy them for SS gifts. But then I couldn't remember favorite colors, so I put said things back down.
I even passed up getting some fiber and ribbon because I did not have particular use in mind for them.
My DH will never believe me. I bet he thinks I have a secret stash somewhere.
:rotfl2:

I was working on tallying my purchases for the month last night and realized how much smaller this month's pile of receipts is compared to EVERY month last year. This BAN seems to be working well for me. I know I've wobbled a bit but I've not fallen off and the best thing is that I've really, truly thought about each purchase before I made it. That, in and of itself, is priceless to me because it means that I am reducing the impulse buying.

SO, my tally for January 2008 is as follows:
$45.32 - 92 sheets of Bazzill and Bazzill Bling for regular stash and swaps (the best part is that I didn't even look at the rest of the store - went in for what I needed, paid and left - yay me!) - This is one of my 4 scheduled cardstock shopping trips for the year.
$45.24 - Iris cart to help me organize what I have (used a 40% off coupon)
$24.00 - Baskets to help me store my paper holders, cutting mats and cutters
$35.16 - Containers and materials to organize and store ribbon, fiber, Primas, brads, eyelets, snaps and buttons
$5.00 - Pack of Cricut mats - on my list and purchased with 50% off coupon
$27.19 - Two packs of glue dots (on my approved list) and 20 sheets of Disney paper (all purchased with "found money" aka Bunco winnings.
$20.00 - Prima group buy - Not on my list but I took the money out of the allowed amount for my first free day of shopping. A GREAT deal as I will be getting about 200 flowers in the following patterns/colors: Essentials, Esprit, Got Flowers, Hydrangeas, Playmates, Sprites, Daisy Crazy, Paint can flowers, Quick picks and Got Daisies (blue, green, orange, yellow, red, purple, lavender, lime, etc.)
$49.00 - Mickey and Friends cart off of eBay - On my allowed list; includes shipping and will be a cost savings in the long run since I can make my own embellies instead of buying Jolees.
$46.76 - New CM cutting mat and cutters and a new Sidekick. I needed the cutting mat/cutters. Not so much on the Sidekick.

Organizing - $104.40
Allowed Consumables - $14.53
Allowed Purchases - $94.32
Tools - $29.97
Extras purchased with "found money" - $17.66
Extras that I purchased due to great deals and am deducting from my later free days - $36.79

Total - $297.67 although the organizing supplies don't count so $193.27 and that included a new cart and TONS of cardstock to last for 3 months. NICE!

I do worry about what y'all will say but I also worry about how guilty I feel when I buy something. I spent a lot this month on organizing supplies but I won't have that luxury next month. I'll see how crazy I am then. ;)

Last night was honestly the first time I prepared for a cardstock shopping trip. I went through all of my stuff and pulled swatches of colors I seem to use often. It felt so good to stock up on stuff I know I need and will use rather than randomly walking around grabbing whatever catches my eye.

It is really hard!

Good for you for resisting! Now go check your SS colors and then go back and buy your good deals!!!

OMG - i know i'm going to give in one of these days - we're heading for Disney soon, and that means pix and that means more scrapbook pages, and that means - money spent!!! I have been so good so far!!
My other passion is knitting!! I do have tons of yarn... so between both loves, I am set for now.

Are there any rules and regulations for the $29 challenge?

So, the goal is to spend no more than $29 for the whole month of February, right?

What goes toward the count? Like I listed in a previous post, some of my $52.99 total was photo developing, supplies for making gifts for Dad's b-day and Valentine's day.

My type A personality needs to know the specific details.;)

There is a thread somewhere on the Scrapbooking Forum about this. Basically, you have to go shopping on February 29 or March 1 for scrapbooking supplies, spend no more than $29 and then post what you bought. Everyone who participates has their name entered into a drawing for a blank Disney accordian album.

BAMB should be able to explain more.

Ok, so I went to Joann's today to see if they have the DCWV Rock Star stack to make DD's invitations. I don't think I was supposed to be there! I was getting DS out of the car and was standing on the curb. I was holding him, trying to close the door and avoid the plants planted in the island do-hickey. Well my foot twisted and I fell into the car- boy was that a pretty sight. Just glad I didnt hurt DS in the process. Then while I was in Joann's they made an annoucement that their credit card machines were down. So I searched through my purse to see if I had the checkbook- didn't think I did, I usually just use my debit card. Sure enough, no checkbook. Oh well, all I could think about was my ban buddies and how it really was a good thing! :thumbsup2

Yoswers ... well I guess it was meant to be but I am certainly glad that you or your DS weren't hurt! :thumbsup2

Oh, Ashley, are you okay? The fates certainly were against you going to Js.

Oh, yes, I am good! I used to be more graceful- I took ballet for 10 years, you would think I still had some, but no. My foot is a little sore, but honestly I just felt silly, then grateful that I didn't hurt DS. The car totally caught me.
