2008 BAN Wagon Support Group

Are there any rules and regulations for the $29 challenge?

So, the goal is to spend no more than $29 for the whole month of February, right?

What goes toward the count? Like I listed in a previous post, some of my $52.99 total was photo developing, supplies for making gifts for Dad's b-day and Valentine's day.

My type A personality needs to know the specific details.;)

here's the thread, we haven't set down any rules though. But I don't think exempt supplies should count though. Shauna what do you think?

I can't believe it's been one whole month since I set foot in ACM or M's. I haven't made any online purchases, either. I can't look at the emails that come from those places, and others, because I am so afraid they will set me off on a spending spree. I am happy about not spending the money, but I'm starting to feel deprived!

You are doing awesome Kim!!! I think I need to go tally my purchases for the month.
Most of it was for swaps, and gifts for the Cricut swarm. and stuff that was exempt.

so glad you and ds are ok ashley. it must have been karma telling you to go back home!

Yeah, it really wasn't meant to be!!! I am so clumsy.

Glad to hear you weren't badly hurt, Ashley! The BAN gods were telling you to go home to help you not spend money. I'm just sorry you had to get hurt in the process.

Kim - Hang strong until Feb. 29 and then you can go shop. I know what you mean about not reading the emails though. I'm afraid I'll cave.

BAMB - I think the Feb. 29 challenge needs to be all about splurging so I would say no exempt supplies should count towards the total. This should be paper, embellies, etc. All of the "cute" stuff that we can't buy because we are on the BAN. Tax doesn't count and neither does shipping for our friends overseas.

Ashley, I'm glad to hear you and DS are okay... I hate when stuff like that happens...and then the CC machines being down... erk!

All is well... MIL, DD and I are going to a baby shower in the morning and MIL needs to go to Joann's before... so.... :rolleyes1

we've had a couple of great times at Tesco when their tills go down - they don't teach kids how tio add up properly any more so they just charge £1 an item or a couple of quid for big joints, wine and so on :goodvibes Sadly most of my stuff is delivered now so i don't get those times - not that they happened often.

I can't believe how good I've been! I've had my allowed shop from the CTMH catalogue but I was really good and didn't order the stamps of the month even though they would have been half price because I didn't really have a use for them. Except for a sneaky pack of brads when shopping for SS (just so i wouldn't nick hers, honest!) and a mixed pack of BG paper (cos I LOVE their stuff) I think everything has been on the allowable list. Trouble is there was so much Christmas leftover stuff on the CC you couldn't really see the difference:rotfl:

I've been very good!! I haven't bought a thing! But, I haven't scrapped a thing either.

Ashley, I'm glad you guys are ok!

Steph

Your foot must have gotten caught in one of those invisible holes put in front of Joann's by the ban gods :) Glad you didn't get hurt.

I almost fell off the wagon but caught myself, thanks to this thread. I went into Joann's for an allowed purchase - cardstock for a card. At the checkout the clerk mentioned this great sale on a Creating Keepsakes tote filled with stuff that I didn't need for $20. I almost bought, just in case, for a future gift.... then said to her, "tempting but I have too much stuff already!" Thanks for conscious!

Yea for you!!!:cheer2: Those special deals are hard to resist.

So, I went to ACM today because I needed to get working on my swaps and I needed a few things. I was so frustrated - they had nothing I wanted (like any useful color of Bazzill). I spent $12 but it was all for immediate use. Now I'll have to either go out yet again and try another store or look online. The downside of not shopping is in the past, if I was in ACM every week, I'd only buy stuff when it was onsale. Now, I can't really wait for the sales - I need to start working on the stuff soon, so I had to pay full price. I hate paying full price.

Vanyel, you are so good! I would have bought that in a snap

My mom saved me from falling off completely today. Watching QVC I ordered 4 things (wanted more). Totaled about $140. Well I did not get to watch like I wanted to, because I had to take my disabled son to the er.... anomonia... i knew it, but short stay. Anyway the day before was my other son to the doctor... ear infection. I guess she felt sorry for me with all the constant medical things going on since december... she said she would send me some money for my stuff (early v-day). Now I am 37, but my mommy still spoils me.:goodvibes

So with her gift and a scrap return to M's I will only have spent $24 of my own. I did allow myself 4 online/qvc purchases so I took one of those away (got 2 left).

good for you nemomom07! how very nice of your mom.:flower3:
hope both of your little ones are feeling better real soon!

Hi all, jumping onto this wagon now the craft fair is over and done with (only spent $40 of my own money too, mum gave me another $40 so I did well.) Needs some cardstock for the swaps but other than that I'm pretty much set to go with this BAN!

Ok, I have been avoiding this thread. :rolleyes1 Saturday MIL and I were going to a baby shower and she wanted to go to Joann's for a gift- she wanted to give the mom to be a scrapbook with accessories. So since it was on the way to the shower, I had to go too. I had fully intended to just get the paper I needed for DD's bday invitations. I tell ya, it is so hard to be good with other people with you. I spent $24, I will fully confess on the other thread. Although that evening DH took me to Hobby Lobby because a friend had told me they had found a cartridge there for a good deal, but they didn't have the one I wanted and I bought nothing else.
