Hi Girls

Michele - I'm pleased that you had a fun time with Nicole

Laurie - How are your plans going for your DCL House Party ? I wish I was going to one, they sound like fun. Has your stuff arrived yet from DCL ?

Everyone - Have you got any plans for the weekend ? Apart from the Spice Girls concert on Saturday evening, we haven't got any other plans as yet

I hope you're all OK :thumbsup2

Hi all!!

Well, the package arrived, not so great, considering it is a Disney sponsored event.

As a host, we got an on board credit, for $50 - that has to be used on a NEW booking, and must be booked by 8/1/08 - so, it is useless to me. We also got a sketch of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy having a 'house party'.. cute..

Then, for our guests, we got.. 10 goodie bags, 10 planning kits, 6 family fun mags, 5 sets of pirate ears (nice ones - think I'll keep em!), 5 sets of pirate patches/earrings. I have over 30 people coming, figured I'd do a goodie bag per family, but, there isn't enough family fun mags, OR the ears/patches, etc.

Then, they sent JUNK that was leftover from "return to neverland' release - these paper masks and coloring pages.. JUNK -

Also, a few posters, which were nice, napkins that were tossed in the box, not even in a package - so, I don't think I am going to use those - not sure who touched them, ya know.. OH, yeah, and balloons...

All in all, the package was disappointing, but, we'll have a good time anyway - just looking forward to getting together w/friends & family!

What is going on w/everyone else? I've been behind a bit - been busy w/work and party prep!

Hope all is well!
Laurie

Laurie - I'm pleased your package has arrived, but it does seem strange that they haven't given 10 of everything for the party bags. I'm sure you'll all have a great time - and I look forward to hearing all about it :thumbsup2

Hi Laurie,
Sorry to hear u were disappointed with your package from disney. I'm sure u will have a great time though. It is starting to snow again..yuck..Oh well in just a few months it will spring(my favorite season) and all my flowers will be in bloom and my fish will wake up from hiberanation in the pond. Trying to think warm happy thoughts today. Check in later
Michele

I agree Michele, roll on the Spring !! I can't wait to see all the Daffodils in bloom. I just want to be able to get my lawn cut and get my lounger out and enjoy the sun :sunny:

I can't wait for spring either - so far, no snow in south Jersey - hoping it skips us!!!

Well, I got an email from DCL today - they said they were going to honor the OBC that they sent on an upcoming cruise - so, that is good - I just have to figure out how to redeem it, I have a call into my TA about it - so, we'll see!

The party should be fun - I made up the guest bags - did I tell you all this already, stop me if I am repeating myself??

I'll have to see if I can find the post I did on the planning thread and copy it - too much to type!! lol

Laurie

OK - I am just copying and pasting from the other site... HERE goes....

<< Ok - So I have to tell you - originally, I was like - yeah, ok - I'll do this party, but I am NOT going crazy! LOL - well, my party instincts kicked in and I am off and running w/this! LOL

Still no package, but as far as solids, I went w/Red, Black, White, Yellow. I got a great small sandpail in the party store to put forks/spoons in - that is yellow w/a red handle, thought that was cute.

I am running today for the gift bags - I am going to check marshalls too - do you mind me asking how much the H2O products are? I really don't want to spend too much.

I started out invited just a few relatives - now, I am at around 35 people - and I am getting excited, because of all the hype here on the boards!

So, this is my 'plan of action' - simple, but I think it's OK!

'Picky' Food:
chips/dip
soft pretzel tray w/dips
cheese, pepperoni/crackers
veggies/dip
party mix
asst. snacks
I also have cocktail franks and pizza bagels that I didn't uses on New Years- maybe I'll break those out if need be.

Desserts:
Mickey Head Rice Krispie Treats
Sand (the pudding/nilla wafers, etc. - served in sandpail)
Blue jello - served in small cups w/ swedish fish in them! SO cute!
Fruit
Cupcakes - for the kids - I did see a recipe for pina colada cupcakes, was thinking of trying that one - or just regular - no need to get fancy! LOL
Cookies - possible, mickey heads if I get ambitious!!

We'll have beer, sangria, some frozen concotion - haven't decided if I will do pina coladas or margaritas, oh, and I got Capri Sun 'tropical fruit' juice bags for the kids - AND - I might do a punch IF I can find the punch bowl!

So - nothing fancy - but, we are starting at 7 - so, I didn't think I need to do like a 'meal' - ya know?

Then.................... I put all of our DCL pics up on the mantle - (I had them down in the basement when I had all the Christmas stuff up) - I printed off some other pics from our last cruise (9/06) - I bought one of the 2006 photobooks onboard, and NEVER printed out the pics - so I did that!

My son and I are going to make a posterboard saying "Welcome Aboard" - and we are going to put a few pics of the boats - and I have a pic of the welcome aboard sign - it's a bit blurry - but it'll work -

The guest bags, that is where I am stuck - I am going out today - with a few ideas in my head - first off - I did the CDs - how do I post a pic on here? I can send it - it actually came out pretty good - I went to Staples and got the cases that fit 2 CDs, made a cover for them, and one for each of the CDs - not 100% the way I hoped they turned out - but, they are pretty good!! - SO - I will put that in the bag, I am guessing with one of the planning kits they give, they only give 8, right? - but, I have a few families coming that have cruised before, so, they won't need that - I can give it to the ones who haven't - then, I was thinking of heading over to AC Moore today- and getting the magnetic fridge pads, they always have such cute designs, was hoping to find a tropical or maybe pirate one, and then I was going to go to Bath and Body Works to see if they have some kind of tropical soap scent - but, first I am going to check marshalls and see about the H2O stuff.

As far as decorations, my house is a Disney house to begin with, so, decorations are not necessary - I have the framed pics, and photoalbums out, I will do whatever w/the balloons, and I will collect my Disney stuff around the house to put around in the 'party area'...

Who is doing games w/prizes?? What are you playing and using for prizes? We were going to set up the Disney pictionary - we got it for Christmas and haven't played yet, going to check it out tonight and see what it's all aobut.

So, sorry this was so long - But, I am in full swing over here - I have A LOT of running around to do today - and of course the kids are home.... So, it ought to be interesting to see how much I get done!!

I am working Tuesday and Thursday - so, I have today, wednesday and friday to finish up!

Enough of my rambling - can you tell I am excited! >>

AND....

The guest bags:

DCL supplied the bags- w/the DCL planning kits and recipe cards.
I got:
- magnetic fridge pads w/tropical drinks on top
- photo album w/a palm tree on it (the small 4x6 ones for a buck)
- I made a CD w/DCL sail away/party songs.
- and this candle thing w/a duck wearing a life preserver - thought it was cute, and it was only 50 cents on clearance... DONE!!

I really don't have too many activities planned.. I was going to hook up the disney pictionary for the kids, talk about the cruises I've been on, a few of the guests have also cruised, I asked them to bring their pics - so, it'll be fun.. we'll just eat, drink and be merry! LOL

That's my LONG story!! Hope you enjoy! LOL ( you all probably think I'm NUTS!! :thumbsup2 )

Laurie

Wow Laurie you sound like you've really worked hard!! You deserve that $50 credit and then some. I love parties too and I know how easy it is to go "overboard";) We are having a superbowl party for sure and then 2 of my girls have birthdays in February. The little one wants her party at indoor mini golf Yea $11 per kid no muss no fuss. The one turning 10 wants a party at home. It's so much easier in the summer because they can be outside and swim and do waterballoons and games. We'll come up with something fun though.

My 7 year old came off the bus crying today that her ear hurt. I was able to get her to the Dr. right away and get a prescription filled all in less than an hour:thumbsup2 (ear infection:sick: ) I felt so bad becuase I was actually in her class today and she told me her ear hurt and I told her to try and make it through the day.:guilty: She honestly seemed fine:flower3:

Oh and her teacher cracked up about the injured penguin. She can't believe I went to so much trouble to replace it with the exact one:teacher:

Sorry to hear about your daughter suzanne. I hope those antibiotics kick in soon and she starts feeling better.

laurie, You sound like you are almost all set to party!! It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Mandy, Hope u had a good day as i am typing i realized you r probably in bed by now and won't read this till tomorrow. Good morning to you then.

Well i have some paperwork to catch up on so i'll check in later.

Hey Girls

Woohoo, it's nearly the weekend

Suzanne - I hope your daughter is feeling better today. I thought her teacher would laugh about the penguin

Laurie - It looks like you've put in a lot of effort for your party - and it sounds great. I hope you enjoy it as much as your friends do

Sandra - Thanks for your info, I've added them to our first page

Michele - I can't believe you want a ferret, my friend used to have a pet rat - I couldn't believe that either :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Veronica - Hi

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Good morning everyone...

Yesterday was one of those crazy days but I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend with nothing to do (if you don't count some early spring cleaning).

Laurie - your party sounds great! I'm sure everyone will have a great time with all the hard work you've put into it

Suzanne - Hope your daughters ear infections goes away quickly and you can have a fun weekend

Michele - good luck if you go ferret shopping. My husband and I had 2 ferrets when we were 1st married. Now that we have kids, its only fish and hermit crabs for my son (although my son is on a crusade for a hamster or guinea pig - his real wish is for a dog but we told him age 10 for a dog since I am not ready for 2 young kids and a puppy... my son loves animals and wants to be a vet so Petsmart is a dangerous place for us)

Mandy- Are you so excited for your concert this weekend?

Have a great day everyone. Happy Friday!
Veronica

Wow, when I told my son about your animals, his response..."Can we have that many too" and "Make sure my guinea pig cage will have enough room for 8" (I didn't even want to explain multiple cages). Your house is now his dream home....I don't know when you find time to clean them all! I have a hard time keeping up with his fish bowls...although it will be easier when I am not constantly chasing my daughter (who loves to climb, play in toilets and push buttons on any electronic equipment, etc).

Veronica

Lol:rotfl2: The gunia pigs actually started as just 1 but little did we know she was pregnant. Then when the babies were about 12 weeks she started looking pregnant again:eek: ( my son was like gross with her own son) That was a fun conversation. So when i tried to give them to the pet store they said they had no room.So we now have 4 cages hopefully sperated correctly and will have no more surprises. Luckily i work from home for my husband's buisness and i am able to clean up as i work. I have a question for you though how do you paste the text you are replying to on your page?
Thanks
Michele

I just hit the quote box on the bottom of the post that I am replying to. If there is any of the post that I don't want in the quote I just delete that part. I hope that answered the question. I am no expert so there may be a better way.

By the way, there is no way I am going to explain to my son how you ended up with 8 guinea pigs:scared:

Veronica

Mandy- Are you so excited for your concert this weekend?

Yes, I can't wait. It should be good

Ahh, those were the days :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK Michele, if you just want to quote one of our posts, then instead of clicking reply, click on QUOTE (at the bottom right of the post) and the whole post will appear in your reply

Now if you want to quote more than one post, click on "+ (which is next to the Quote icon), and you can click on all the posts you wish to reply to, then press reply and all the quotes will appear in your reply

If you're not sure if your reply is correct, you can always preview your post before you submit it

Sorry if that sounds a bit long-winded :)

That doesn't look right..lol Why isn't mine yellow highlighted. I clicked on quote and that is what i got...lol It doesn't like me

I am going to attempt to put some photos of the kids that were taken in November on the Magic. I have never tried to put photos in my post so I hope this works.

Veronica - what gorgeous photos, your kids are so cute

Michele - where you have quoted my post, you have removed a ] at the end of my name, if you go into your post to edit it, and put the ] back in, it should work (I think)
