2008-2009 Cheer Parent Thread!!!!

Melanie - how exciting! Best stunts and grand champions?! :cheer2: Woo hoo! And it's great that it comes after the team building so the girls can see that it works. ;)

Good luck tomorrow! DD's back at her first comp since her broken arm and she's so excited she's not asleep yet. She can't tumble so she's supporting her competitive squad and then she's doing an exhibition later in the day w/her exhibition squad. I'm glad she wanted to be on that one since she'll get to perform tomorrow - she's doing the dance and cheer and then a lot of posing and facials during the stunts and tumbling passes. :cool1:

What a great story about them pulling it all together!! Congratulations to them on the win!!!

Any other comp stories from the weekend? I think we are pulling out of JamLive next weekend in Providence so our next comp will be NCA Dallas!!! UGH!! She has a new base and needs some extra time in the gym teaching her how to hold for those darn tick tock stretches! (she never has based for them before and new to the team because a few girls quit last week)! But she is confident it will work out (me on the other hand, I need to stay away, I get too nervous).

we also pulled out of JamLive for next weekend. We are just not ready for that much competition.

Hey! we just got back from Concord. We tied for last, all because 1 girl pulled the whole prymaid down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I hear they are just doing an exhibition at JamLive. Steph's base was pulled up from a team that will be at Cheersport that weekend.

I will find out more at her practice tonight..............she is sooooooooo sick right now!!! Better now than in Dallas!! I let you know Brenda. I'd love to meet up with you.....finally.

We had a good day at the competition! Our youth got 2nd out of 4, and 1st place definitely earned it, they were awesome. Dd's exhibition squad looked great! I didnt' realize how much she missed it. We told her she could go with her competitive squad to support them (she can't compete b/c of her arm until March 1) and she was so excited yeterday it was cracking us up. I'm glad she's almost back.

We just got back from WSF in Charlotte and our Y1 won first. They thought they were going to come in 5th because they bobbled on their pyramid but they have great tumbling for a level 1 team. They also won last week first in their division and grand champions. I think that bobble will be good experience heading to Atlanta this weekend! My dd9 said she knew they won when they called the 2nd place team, ds11 said he wasn't sure until they announced Carolina Crossfire as the winners and dd6 said, "I knew we would win!" She is so funny!

Congrat's - 2 out of 4 is great!! Sounds about like our competition yesterday.

Congrat's - Little bobbles aren't really much of a deduction, so glad she took first.

So we had a UCDA competition this weekend at our High School, so they payed us to help with set up and break down, we did the snack stand, manned the doors (but they did the ticket's into the school), we had a bake sale table, did the 50/50's and my DS11 asked for donations at the front door for our trip to National's at WDW in March (he raised $50.18 all by himself, lol). I did the 50/50's (OMG, I'm so sore from all the stairs, bleachers, kneeling down, squating etc.). I'm so tired, but we did make enough to finish paying the girls airline tickets that are due. Now we just need to pull together a cheer clinic for the pop warner and Middle school girls to pay for the other coach and hopefully the bus to the airport and luggage fees.
Our school district has pulled funding for our coach to go, all buses to our competitions (so now we have to pay for the bus to the aiport), so now we have things to pay for that we weren't planning on.

They took 2nd out of 3 yesterday. First place was the school that took 2nd on Saturday, and we knew they would be fired up to win yesterday. The other squad so deserved 1st and they went before our girls. We knew after they performed that unless our girls were flawless like the day before they would take second. They compete against these girls again next Saturday - so it's actually exciting to see such a great rivalry amoungst friends. Both of these schools support each other at competitions by sitting on the mat at cheering each other on. Both teams have girls who are on the same All-Star team, so they are all very friendly with each other.......but you know each team want's to beat the other one very bad, no matter that they are cheering each other on. It's actually very cool to see them support each other. They did a half time routine together a few weeks ago when the boy's basketball teams played. It was cool to see them stunting and doing a routine together that they learned at cheer camp.

Exciting and fun weekend for us - boy are we tired.

Congrats to all that had successful weeks, both in competition and practice.

See you down there. We leave Thursday. Can't wait!

Hey - if anyone gets a chance to vote for the MTV Fired up contest (there is a link at the bottom right corner of mtv.com) - Vote for Maximum all star cheer in Philadelphia. My daughter is not on that squad, but some of the girls from my daughter's High School squad are.

Thanks :)

Remind me of which team is yours so I can root for y'all (unless you're competing against one of our teams. Hehe! We have a Youth 1, Jr 2 and Sr coed 3) My kids are performing around 1ish on both days. I have it highlighted at home. We will leave Friday after school but we are only a few hours away from Atlanta.

Looks like they are doing an exhibition at JamLIVE. So are the jr 5 team. Originally Stephs team was going on at the very end of the night (9:45) but they are moving it for them to go on at the end of Session 3 (7 PM I think). Steph has been really sick this week with the flu and missed practice. I hope she is better for Saturday. She will practice tonight but I am not sure how they are going to do her group with a missing base. They always figure something out and pull someone in...........that is the benefits of being with such a big gym with many level 5 teams!!

Hope to see you Bren............

Good luck to everyone going to Cheersport.

Also, my daughters gym has a team int he contest for Fire Up as well. They are trying to raise money for the International team get to Worlds!!! So if anyone wishes to split their votes between Melanie's gym and Celebrity, that wuold be great!!!

I'll keep my eye out for you Rosemary! Ryleigh's team competes at 1:05 I think but I'll be around all day b/c our J4 team doesn't compete until later!

The Suns out of Broomfield, CO. We are bringing down 9 teams. We are bringing:
  • Jr 1 (small)
  • Mini 2 (small)
  • Y2 (small)
  • Sr 2 (small)
  • Y3 (small)
  • Sr Coed 3 (large) guess we are competing against each other on this one:goodvibes
  • J5 (small)
  • Sr Coed 5 (semi-limited)
    and our
  • Special Needs team (who are awesome if I must say so myself, but I am biased)

We are required to be checked into the hotel by midnight Thursday as our first meeting and practice is Friday morning.

My kids cheer at around 4 and 5 both days.

Our Sr. coed is small. I checked the divisions to make sure and we aren't competing against each other so we can officially cheer each other on!!!!

What a fun competition. And BIG.

It has been great fun seeing how our teams stack up against the best of the best out East here.

Now back over to the competition. Our kids just left with the coaches, so we are heading over in a few minutes.

Sounds like everyone at Cheersport is having a blast!!! The teams are full of skills and it is exciting from what I am reading on the boards. I wish we were there again this year........

Brenda.....I met some Sparks mom's yesterday. I was asking for you but then we had to give up our seats to some of your parents. I kept tryiing to get back to where you were all sitting but it was horrible for finding a seat!!! I ended up sitting way in the back with my younger DD (she hurt her ankle in soccer) and ate popcorn!! We then went up front for when Steph's team did their exhibition. She only marked all of her stunts!! LOL!! Her base was missing and then we just found out another one of her bases can not be at practice the week before Dallas!! I AM STRESSING for her on this one!! It is a new group and they are having difficulty hitting the tick tocks (the new base does not know how to release for her to tick tock!!).

How did Ryleigh's team do?

What did you think of Jam LIVE?? I thought it was strange and different. Not sure I would enjoy having to hang around there all day (seating was horrible and all seats were being saved). The kids seem to have fun walking out on the 'red carpet'.

Keep us updated on Cheersport for those of you that are there!!
