2007 Transatlantic and First Med cruises thread

I am most likely not going to be around for a couple of days. I have to make an emergency trip to Potosi Missouri. My 102 year old grandmother passed away early this morning, I have to fly out there and then I return on Friday. I may not be posting while I am out there.

Cayla

:grouphug: Cayla. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Safe travels.:grouphug:

16 days before the TA in 2007 we flew to Pitt for DH's grandmother's funeral. She was 101.

Hadley, I saw on the other thread that Dave's interview went well. I won't say Congrats yet so as not to jinx it, but here's :wizard: that it all goes well. So where will you be moving?

I will tell you where once it is set in stone:rolleyes1 Pathetic I know but I am totally afraid of jinxing it. We cannot afford to jinx it in this economy! When March rolls around and Dave's plant closes my librarian's salary will not even cover the mortgage--so hopefully all will work out as it sounds like it will and that will be non issue (we will still be stuck trying to sell or rent a house in this mess of an economy--BUT Dave will be earning a decent paychek AND working at a job he loves if this all comes to fruition which is much better than many).

Oh, Cayla, I am sorry to see this. It appears she had a long life so hopefully you will have MANY good memories of her.

I thought of that:lmao: But I will not change it anyway--it is who I am now--ya know?! Thanks for the good luck coming my way (but could you not send the snow:rotfl: ). We are all so anxious over here.

Good Morning cruisers!

Well, I survived my long walk! It was actually 2 walks, one loop of 11 miles with the dogs, then a short stop at home to use bathroom, drop off tired dogs, eat a Kashi bar, and refill my water bottle, then out for a 7 mile loop. The actual milage was 18.53 miles, pace was 16:35 – not fast enough to beat the sweepers, but I was not pushing the speed, just walking at a comfortable pace. I almost feel ready for the Marathon in Jan.

We have put up a bird feeder next to the bird bath, and the finches are just flocking to it, it is right outside the window next to the computer, so I get to watch the birds while trying to keep up on the boards! The only problem is that I cannot make any sudden moves, or all the birds spook and fly off. I am literally no more than 4 feet from the bird feeder!

Cayla – sorry to hear of the sad news, you will be in our thoughts and prayers!

Hadley – PD for you, hoping all works out for you!

Have a great day everyone!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Cayla. You have been blessed with lots of years with her. I am sure you have great memories. Lyn - love the walk you did. You have more energy then me :) Hope everyone else is doing well.

Good Morning Cruisers!

It has turned cold here, after mid 60’s yesterday, high today will be 30 degrees, with freezing fog, freezing drizzle and snow – sounds beautiful doesn’t it? :scared1:

Have a great day everyone!

Hey, I've been out of the loop since July. Scott and I separated because certain of his behaviors...no abuse, and all is better now. Oh, and it had nothing to do with money, even though we had none for 14 months. Thank goodness for savings and retirement money!

So anyway, I am back. Scott and I are back together after two months apart and are a much improved version of "Scott and Deanna." He is working as a consultant and is busy, busy, busy! I have been able to go on some of his trips--Florida, San Diego, London, and Brussels---making up was FUN!

Katey is in college at BYU and loves it. The other kids are singing, dancing, acting, girl scouting, going to church, and destroying my house; the latest was little styrofoam pieces. EEEEK!

I plan on quitting my job tomorrow--yeah!!!---as it was only for health insurance and SOMEONE needs to keep the kids from tossing the styrofoam everywhere. As Hadley said about her librarian job, my file clerk job never came close to paying the mortgage, especially since it was only 20 hours a week!

I think I'll be signing up for another TransAtlantic tonight. LOVED that cruise. 6 sea days. Ahhhhh. The Baltic cruises are SO expensive and busy. I actually lived in Copenhagen for a summer, Denmark for a year and am fluent in Danish and German (lived there for a year and a half), so the cruise is enticing me. I'd love to show my kids Copenhagen through the eyes of Disney!

I hope everyone is doing well. Padelyn, my condolences. I am going to my Grandma's funeral on Tuesday. She was 84, but had the most beautiful death ever, and I am so at peace with her passing. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life.

Well, hope I didn't bore anyone. I miss you guys.

OH!!!!! I saw the Magic sail away with Hadley and friends aboard in late September. My heart was with you as you disappeared over the horizon.

Deanna it is NICE to see a post from you:goodvibes Goodness Gracious your life has been really crazy and hectic. I am glad to see that things seem to be going smoothly and well now:cutie:

If you book a TA, just rember that on the West bound you can sail with my family, and Erik & Jason, and Chris & Rob and Sandi, Darrell & Abby . . .:rolleyes1 Just sayin':rotfl:

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. She lived to 102, so I was indeed lucky to have her for so long - she loved seeing the pictures of the first Panama cruise on my "lappy thing" (my laptop!) She thought since they were so big and well lite she could sit through ALL of them...gads...500 pictures later she wanted to see more!!!

Happy memories, she also died quietly and peacefully - at peace with herself and the world. Like you said - no regrets. My sympathies and thoughts are with you as well.

Congrats on the 30 pounds...I am trying to loose some myself. A slow hard battle, but it WILL come off...if I have to scare it off!!!

Come join us on the First Baltic - there is a thread going somewhere - I will find it an post the link later on. Scott & Lynn and a few others are on that one.

Deanna - you have been busy and very consumed with life. It is so good to see you back and hear that things are better for you. We wish nothing but the best for our TA Family!!! You never bore us. I was just thinking about you last week and hoping things were going well. Like Hadley said, please join us on the WB TA in September 2010 - lots of fun planned. Glad to hear the kids are well and always busy - even if it is with styrofoam! Hope all is well with everyone else. MISS YOU ALL!!!

Good Morning Cruisers!

Deanna - good to hear from you again, and glad that your life seems to be working out for the best! As Cayla says, come join us on the first Baltic, I think you will find a few others that you might know, as there seems to be quite a few familiar names signed up. Yes, it will be busy, but think of all the great places you can visit! There are a couple days at sea for relaxation!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Cruisers! Was too busy to make it to the boards yesterday – but got all my shopping for Thanksgiving out of the way!

We have been working on the icicle lights in the evenings, last evening was calm and we managed to get up several strands – hopefully tonight will be calm also so we can get a couple more up. That should leave only one or 2 left for the weekend, and the forecast is not great for the weekend – it is supposed to get cold and some snow. The wind is the hardest when up on a ladder, and holding long strings of lights, the static decorations will be easier to put up in the wind!

Weather has been really nice all week!

Have a great day, and a great Turkey Day tomorrow!

I bet your lights are lovely. I hope you will post a "this year's photo" of them once they are all up. Are you having a big group for Thanksgiving? We go to the neighbor's house every year. I bring all the "roots" (mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash) and buck-eyes!

Hopefully you will have a fantastic Thanksgiving and have much to be thankful for.

Okay, well "Set in stone" may not happen until a weeks or so before we move--but it is looking VERY promising and we are living life as if it is going to happen so I will take a deep breath and let you all know we are going on an apartment finding and school visiting trip December 12-20 (just booked this morning by the compnay). We will be going to Heidleberg, Germany!!!!!!!    Juergen, if you see this maybe we will see you in Germany some time (I am thinking you lived pretty far from Heidleberg--but it is still much closer than New Hampshire;) )
