According to this guy at Weather Underground, the next wave will be threatening the Lesser Antilles early next week - the same time that WE are threatening the Lesser Antilles...

I wouldn't worry too much, I've read either on the same site or else where that if, and it was a big IF that wave can organize it will be a slow developer.

However, as long as we get on the ship on Saturday, I don't much care where we go.

I agree 100%! I'm even hoping the timing is right so that once we're onboard and on our way, whatever's developing next forces us to not be able to get back to PC on time! I know, I know, that's selfish....and I would feel bad for the people cruisng after us who would be cut short on their cruise, but crusing this time of year is a gamble. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. :thumbsup2

what's this about watching something in the lesser antilles?? Boo hiss! Can't worry about that one, we'll already be on the boat and we know they'll avoid whatever's out there. I sure hope we still get our CC stop- don't care about the rest!

I wish someone was doing a live report this week. Is anyone here planning on doing a live report? I might, if I bring my laptop along. I don't see myself cooping up in the cafe to write reports so I don't know that I'd do it without the laptop. but then I'd have to use wireless minutes and I'm not sure how that would work- could I get one package of wireless minutes and use them wireless sometimes and 'hard wired' other times? I heard it's slow to use wireless so I wouldn't want to do that all the time...

So, here I sit waiting for Ernesto. School is cancelled tomorrow as are afterschool activities and my chiropractor appt. So far DH doesn't know if he has work or not. They've told them they will cancel work if they close the barrier islands, otherwise they won't. The problem is, I don't want him to be out in the mess even if they don't technically cancel work! He has a 1pm conference call his customer (out of state) doesn't want to cancel so he would have to go in for that if they don't close work. Ugh. I don't want his car out in the parking lot with who knows what blowing around to dent it! Not to mention the danger (stupidity!) of driving in TS winds. He could take vacation except for the conference call. If they do close work, he'll have to take vacation on Friday, he was supposed to be off on his regular schedule (every other Friday off) and I'll need his help with packing and laundry on Friday. So either way this storm is going to cost him an unplanned vacation day. Oh well.

The weather radio went off at 5:30 am to tell us we're in a TS warning, and it just went off now for tornado watches so I guess it's getting closer. Send happy thoughts! I'm not worried about the storm per se, but the possibility of tornados spinning off of it always concerns me since they're unpredictable.

that's all for now!

Amen Courtney (on the spending time writing reports)....

At the risk of sounding like an old pirate fuddy-duddy, I have NEVER understood these folks who go on vacation, and then spend most of their time away writing a document the size of 'War & Peace' (or one of Holly's law books), describing every waking moment of their day. (I could really care less if they had Orange Marmalade or strawberry jelly on their toast.)

There are some people in several Yahoo groups I'm a member of that I honestly believe need to write these like they need to breathe.

Does anybody actually READ those things?

Argggggghhhh.... pirate: Four days til the grog flows...

WOW! I can't imagine living in weather like that! Yikes! I don't mind storms, but agree with you about tornados. Scary. Hang in there! It will be over soon enough and then you can relax onboard! :woohoo:

I don't think you could mix wireless minutes with regular minutes because I seem to remember it having something to do with how you log in for each? I'm not speaking from experience, just from a thread I read a while ago. Too long ago to remember where to find it, sorry. I'm considering bringing my laptop too, mainly for downloading photos like I did last time to empty my camera. I was also considering purchasing a wireless plan onboard too. I know people in the past who have split the cost of regular minutes and just take turns logging on...I'm wondering if that would work for wireless? Just a thought.

Well, good luck with your husband's work and other weather-related issues. Sounds scary! I'll quit complaining about it being cold and rainy here yesterday and today. That's nothing compared to what you guys have going on!

There's already a thread started for that cruise, but anybody in this group joining us that week?

The wireless package doesn't offer unlimited, so it wouldn't help to split it with someone unless you were going to really monitor it- like get 200 min, and then monitor that you only use 100 each.

Oh, and they did close work for DH tomorrow- phew! He'll take Friday morning off for DD's preschool "Bear, Bagel, Butter, Banana, Breakfast" (can you tell it's 'B' week in the pre-K class?) and then go in. I realized since we'll all be home tomorrow we can pack tomorrow except for what we might need to wear betw. now and then so I won't really need him around to help me on Friday.

Cold and rainy, seriously?? It's still SO hot here!

1 more day at work...then it's VACATION! :cool1: We're flying into Orlando on Thursday - I just hope the weather cooperates. We're staying at Cape Caribe on Thursday and Friday. Is there anyone else out there staying at Cape Caribe before the cruise?

Now, I am REALLY jealous. Everyone is starting vacation and I have Wednesday and Thursday at work. Which means, filing an answer, doing payroll, reviewing a bunch of documents, reminding my clients for the upteenth time that "no the cell phone does not work on the ship".

Yup....It got up to 69 degrees today. And with it raining all day, it made it feel even cooler. The 10-day forcast shows 73 being the highest with a couple days in the high 60s. I guess I have to accept the fact that it's time to drain the pool! :guilty:

Welcome to Michigan!

Hi guys. I just wanted to log on real fast and say THERE ARE ONLY 4 MORE DAYS UNTIL OUR CRUISE!!!!! :cool1:  I am so excited, it is very hard to work! :Pinkbounc

However, that only leaves me 2 more days to pack since we are flying down on Friday. Yikes!!!

Holly - I wanted to wish you Happy Birthday. party: I may not be able to log back on in the next few days and I didn't want to miss...

To all - May you all have safe travels and we'll see you on the ship!!!

I am very grateful for all the advice and assistance you all have given me, especially since this is my first cruise.

Oh - Maria's teacher gave us her work that she would miss today. I am glad it was not too much. I was beginning to worry that I would have to take homework on the cruise. The teacher did ask if I could stow her away and take her with us. I was also worried that she wouldn't be too kind because we are taking Maria out of school, but she has been GREAT!! (One less thing to worry about!)

Well - gotta go. Joe thinks I'm in the den working on lessons for tomorrow. I better go do some.......

It's just that I'm too excited to do anything!!!

Okay - now I'm going. :moped:

Big hugs and thanks to everyone :grouphug: Hopefully I can chat before we all depart, but, again, if not - we'll see you on the cruise. :bounce:

Don't worry, I'll be working Thurs & Fri. You're not the only one who's not on vacation yet! :teeth:

I'm sure you remember Michigan weather very well! ;) And then again, we could have 85 degree weather when we get back from the cruise. :confused3

Gee, you know you're posting too much when you get a message that says Sorry, the administrator has determined that a user may only post a message every 40 seconds! :rotfl2:

racrj: If you manage to check posts before you leave, thanks for the birthday wishes! :cool1: And have a safe trip....see you soon! :thumbsup2

I am working too. And when you mention a possible hurricane my job gets alot harder. People think that if they do not get their meds right this second they will never be able to get them again. I just finished my second 13 hour day in a row. But, I am off on Wednesday. I can finally pack. And of course go by Wal-Mart for some last minute items.

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure how many of you will remember, but my family and I were supposed to be cruising with you next week... However the announcement of our new baby threw an early wrench in those plans... Well I just wanted to drop you all a note to let you know our new baby boy was born last Tuesday (8/22). 8 pounds 15 ounces! Everyone is doing good... We still talk about missing the cruise, but we will have many years to cruise down the road (if the prices don't sky-rocket too much :) ). Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone happy cruising and I can't wait to hear all the stories when you return! Hopefully the weather stays nice, well as nice as it can be this time... None of the current storms are threatening the cruise are they??

Just wanted to let everyone know how things were going... Have fun.

Mark, Molly, Eric, Haley, and Baby Luke
