20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

While I think Tom knows how much I appreciate him in his tux, I think he continues to wear it in an act of solidarity. If I am to be in heels and uncomfortable attire, he is willing to suffer too, regardless of the heat. :lmao:
We have a rule that while onboard we ALWAYS take the stairs. One night he asked why I wanted to take the elevator back up to deck 8 after dinner. Trying to understand why it seemed so difficult he stood on tip toes and walked up the stairs that way...all five floors. In appreciation he agreed that it was torture to his calves...and I reminded him that that was nothing compared to the actual shoes!!!!!!!!

He is a good sport, but we still take the stairs! :)

My DH is wearing a suit. A tux seems like a great idea, but he gets more use out of a suit and we didn't own either. Well, he had 3 suits, but they no longer fit, but that's a different story.

A similiar question - I have a long dress that I'm wearing - anyone else???

nuzmom, I love having the opportunity of primping and dressing up! If I can get the weight off that I am trying to get off, I will definitely be in a gown. I have a couple that have just been hanging in the closet for the last few years.

You will see a little bit of everything on formal and semi-formal nights! Whatever you choose to wear, enjoy it! Revel in the simple joy of being somewhere special in something special! :wave2:

1. We will not be dressing up for pirate night, to me it's just more to pack.
2. My DH will be wearing his brand new suit, as for me I have not found a dress yet and I'm hoping that after I lose a few pounds I can find one.

Joshua121301 can't wait until the party. Can we bring kids? I replied to your e-vite. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. Traci

Of Course the kids are welcome. We have three ourselves and all are welcome!! Thanks for the offer to help.

We are six in our party in two staterooms. Our smaller family of four includes a DS7 :artist: and a DD5 princess: . To that we've added Nana (DM75?) and an aunt, my sister - she'll kill me if I publish her age :rotfl:

We're on Deck 8 and some other yet to be assigned state. Not sure how that will work out but it worked on paper.

Today seems like a good day :surfweb: to fill in our online paperwork and begin to catch up on it all.

(reading, reading) Yikes, no tux. (Off to make something pirate-ish pirate: )

Can you all believe how close we're finally getting?!

My Dh will be in a suit, and I have a tea length black dress. Actually, if you look at Monstro's site, I think the pic I submitted is what we'll be wearing for formal night, it's a recent family wedding photo. DS(7) doesn't have anything formal- he was in the wedding and therefore in a rental tux- so he'll just be in kahki's and a nice shirt. I'm honestly not counting on having the kids at formal night anyway- we have late seating so that they can eat with the kids' club and enjoy their evening activities rather than sit thru a long 'grownup' meal every night. and, of course, that offers the bonus of eating like adults most nights =). We'll probably try to plan on them dining with us at animators and on pirate night, and other than that try to get them to eat with the kids or at the buffet earlier.

What do people think abuot bringing trinkets for the kids for the DIS meet? If we had an estimate of the number of kids (under 12) maybe some of us could bring stickers, bubbles, whatever, for the DIS meet. That would mean, on the RSVP, we'd need a count of kids under 12...

I think that's a great idea! Count me in for bringing something. Not sure what yet....will give it some thought after final exams are done. Too busy studying to think about anything else right now. :badpc: :scared:

Are we all going to meet on Saturday in the Promanade Lounge? That would be the time for bubbles..just before the sailaway! I would like to do this, any others??

Hmmm....we might have to meet up with everybody after sailaway. Tyler and I will be on deck waiving with our big Mickey Mouse gloves! :) Plus, I want to show him how the guy jumps from the ship onto the pilot boat. A co-worker told me about it and says it's kind of neat to see.

OOPS!!! Just realized I spelled "waving" as "waiving" in the above post. Gee, you don't think I'm spending too much time on law schoolwork, do ya?! :rotfl2: But I'm not "waiving" my rights to have a GREAT time on the cruise! Oh my gosh....I NEED this semester to end soon!

How about 2:30 in the Promanade Lounge?

Hey,
what are you talking about- with the guy jumping from the ship to the pilot boat? I've never heard of that. where do you see that- and who is the guy jumping ship?

we might be able to make that. What time is sailaway, does anyone know off hand? I'm still out of town so I don't have all my info with me.
I can't even remember where the promenade lounge is- is it big enough we can just show up? How would we know who is our group (I've never done the big meet).

The safety drill is at 4:00 and sailaway is at 5:00. The promenade lounge is large and how to recognize each other, I don't know that one. I'll bring the bubbles. Sign me up!!

If you stand on the Starboard side of the ship about three quarters of the way toward the aft, you will see him jump from deck one onto the pilot boat. They have a pilot because they are in charge of the harbor/channel and then release the ship into the hands of the captain once we are through the channel. It is fun to watch!!!!

Yup, exactly what I want to see this time. I didn't even know about it last 2 times. :thumbsup2

Count me and Tyler in for 2:30 if we get checked in by then. Our flight gets to MCO at 12:45pm, so we'll hope for the best! :teeth:

What people have done in the past to recognize each other is get the Mickey green paint chips from Home Depot (they're shaped like Mickey's head), write your screen name and real name on it, and make a badge out of it or a pin or even use double sided tape to stick it to your shirt. How's that sound?

I know there are certain airlines that automatically get your luggage at the ship and you don't have to worry about checking it in Orlando.

Is Delta one of those?

(Holly, I'll warm up the ship for you as we're arriving Orlando at 9:55 sailing morning....)

Yesterday, I was in St Louis for the Cardinals-Dodgers game. It was 98 degrees in the bright sun and I probably suffered from heat stroke, but I believe I heard something of interest.

One of the people at the game with me said that there was a <GASP!!> nude beach at one of our ports.

If anyone knows any information about this, PLEASE let me know! I would HATE to stumble upon it accidentally! (Especially if I have directions and can get there EARLY!!!) :rotfl2:
