BigBlueMan: Thanks for warming the ship up for me, but could you also have a beer waiting for me too? JUST KIDDING! :rotfl:

The beach you're wondering about is Orient Beach on St. Maarten. If you go to orientbeach.com you'll find all kinds of info about it, including um....shall we say...samples?

Count me and Tyler in for 2:30 if we get checked in by then. Our flight gets to MCO at 12:45pm, so we'll hope for the best! :teeth:

What people have done in the past to recognize each other is get the Mickey green paint chips from Home Depot (they're shaped like Mickey's head), write your screen name and real name on it, and make a badge out of it or a pin or even use double sided tape to stick it to your shirt. How's that sound?

Count DH and I in too! 2:30 pm on the promanade, ditto on the green Mickey paint chips from home depot. This worked great on our last cruise!

We''ll be bringing trinkets for the kidlets too. Not sure what, but something.

If anyone is going to be spending a few days in Central Flordia prior to the cruise they may be interested in the shuttle launch scheduled for August 28th. I've never witnessed anything like this and will try to convince DW to sacrifice a precious day at WDW to drive over to the coast and witness this. Any suggestions on the best place with the least hassle to do this? And did anyone see the news about the Princess Cruise mishap today?

We sure that wasn't a DISNEY Cruise that almost capsized? I thought it was the new 'Disney Rockin' Ocean Coaster" they were testing....

(And yes, I realize that was in incredibly poor taste...)

At least they gave them their money back...

Wow. I wish I was there August 28th. I would love to see the Shuttle launch. Has anyone ever seen it from the ship?

What excursions has everyone booked? We booked the Coral World and the Butterfly Farm since we have very young kids.

Atlantis submarine. I originally had planned on doing Coral World and the Butterfly Farm, but Tyler's dad just took him to a butterfly farm on a Mackinaw Island camping trip recently, and I just took him to Sea World recently and had our fill of sea animals there. Granted, the submarine is to see the sea life, but for us the excitement will be going underwater in a submarine. HOW COOL!

We booked the Butterfly Farm.

We were thinking about Coral World, but would prefer to go to Megan's Bay. We probably could fit both in one day, but would rather not have to rush.

Wow! I just have to share...here's a first: I just got a refund from changing my flight reservation! I had originally planned on spending a couple days at WDW after the cruise and flying home on the 11th, but cancelled that not too long ago because money is too tight right now. I went online just now to change our return flights to the 9th, fully expecting the fee they slap you with for making changes, but knowing I'd still be saving money by not doing WDW. Anyway, the airline did charge the fee, but our new flight is $90.00 per person CHEAPER!! I realize it's cheaper to fly on certain days of the week, but had forgotten about that so the refund was completely unexpected! WOOHOO!!!! :dogdance:

We booked the Dolphin excursion, parasailing and banana boat!!! My DD really loves animals and couldn't pass the dolphins up for her. Has any one done the dophin excursion before, will she be excited or disappointed???

How old does a child have to be to do the dolphin excursion?

On our first cruise, my niece and her parents did the dolphin excursion (niece was a month shy of 4) and they all LOVED it! They highly recommend it. My niece was a little afraid at first, but the workers are great at easing kids' fears, or so I've heard.

Hey Ginny, I was commenting to Jan (of JanDave, former co-cruisers of yours) that you haven't been very active on this thread lately. Glad to see you're still around! Jan tells me you're hilarious! She also wants me to ask your DH if he remembers any of the Italian words she tought him. ;)

Shuttle Launch- I would HIGHLY recommend it! It's really an amazing thing to see it in person. However, keep in mind they frequently scrub at the last minute, so it's sort of hard to plan around. Brian I know you said you have younger kids (how young?) so if it's not something DW is interested in too you might want to leave her with the kids at WDW and go solo over to the cape. You have to get there early to avoid traffic so it's a lot of sitting around with nothing to do in the heat hoping they won't scrub it. Or, plan one day as a Cape Canveral day instead of a WDW day, it's a cool place to see anyway, and if the launch gets scrubbed at least you haven't spent the day just sitting around waiting. But, I'd recommend checking on admission on a launch day, I'm not sure if they change how many people are allowed in or anything. If you don't want to watch there, Jetty Park is supposed to be a great viewing spot. You could spend the day there and again not feel like you wasted a day sitting around waiting.

I haven't gone there to watch b/c I'm lazy- I've watched from the 528 causeway once, been onsight at the Cape once (close enough to feel the rumble!), and other than that I stay closer to home (I live about 15-20 miles south of the cape, so the view is still really good from my back yard).

Or, go over and spend the day at Cocoa Beach. That's close enough for a good view and the beach is decent.

whatever you do if you decide to try to go see a launch, go early, and be prepared for traffic and crowds.
