2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

Wow, everyone must be out shoveling snow or finishing up the Christmas shopping. Found the thread WAY down the page. The rain has finally stopped here in NE Florida and the sun is trying to peek out. I think I have completed my Christmas shopping. Now if I can just get them wrapped and my Christmas cards done.

Have to get the house looking presentable and dinner cooked as we are celebrating my daughters birthday this evening (it is only a week late). But that was her fault since she was on a cruise last weekend. For some reason all my kids like meatloaf so it will be an easy dinner to fix.

We still have rain here in central Florida, but looks like it's starting to clear up. I did lots of Christmas shopping today, and I'm almost done. The Disney Store has all of their toys either buy one get one free or 50% off, including the little stocking stuffer toys, so I went crazy in there. I also found a GREAT deal on the My First Disney Princess Ballet Studio at ToysRUs, it was only $2.98. It only comes with one Cinderella doll, and I guess the other dolls have been discontinued since 2004, so they are VERY hard to come by (selling on ebay for over $20 - orginally only $5). But, I figured for $3, the girls can get by with just one doll.

No baby news yet!! I called by brother around lunch time and she was still on 4cm dilated. I don't want to call too often and bug them, so I figure that I'll call again around dinner time for a baby update.

I'm just going to chime in about the 3 options for future member cruises. You don't bite that hands that feed you, and I know we are only a few of many many DVC members, but we are fanatics......many of us have been booked on all 3, most of us 2 MCs. Why would they not allow the people who are die hards, go any season, call and wait for 5 hours on the phone, those of us that go to any and every member event continue to book fair and square. By calling in at 9am on Saturday, I had just as good of a chance as every other DVC member. What's not fair about that? I was persistent, I stayed on hold, and I booked how can anyone complain about that?

Sorry I know this is late, but until DVC fixes the phone system calling in 9 am DOES NOT GIVE YOU as good a chance as any other member. Your chance is actually much more random more like" call in and see what the queue" does! Personally I like the lottery system since it seems to reflect what really happens. You dial, you get in the phone queue and you may or may not actually ever get your call picked up. I was on hold for two hours at 9 am while seveal of you who called after me got thur to a CM. So.. if it's going to be RANDOM reponses lets at least even the field.

Did you decide to stay on the cruise? It's going to be a blast!!!

I think with the number of members DVC has today that the dial-in system is fair, it's the same way we book our DVC reservations and CRT reservations etc. Perhaps they will find a better way in the future, this year it doesn't seem that anyone had any better chance of getting through that another member.

I emailed DVC via the member website to point out the phone issues. Their response is really what upset me. LOL! I told them I had FINALLY gotten thru and booked what I wanted, but that I felt this needed to be addressed before they do another thing like this (As I recall there were simular issues last year)... The response, call back and get on the waitlist! Did they even READ my email?????

Eddys makes a toll house version that is awesome.
Sometimes I'll add carmel sauce, whipped cream and peanuts..
OMGosh, it is so good.

I am sure it must have been frustrating not being able to get through. This was my first time calling. And from reading the boards I figured I was in for a long day. It concerned me when I read how many phones people were going to be using and I knew it was only going to be me and 1 phone. I got through rather quickly when dialing the 407 number pushed the 3 prompt and went to dead air. Thought I had been disconnected so I hung up. Right after I hung up someone in chat said if you get dead air don't hang up. Too late. I kept redialing trying to get through again. It took quite awhile but at 940 I was able to get a MS person.

Has anyone checked to see if the people who got lost in queue were on cell or land phones?

I really don't know what else DVC could do. I realized going into this on 12/3 that I might get in and I might not. Just like other sought after events sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. I know it is always a call frenzy trying to get the firework cruises.

I do think DVC needs to check out the phone system to see what went wrong but otherwise don't change the method for booking the cruises. Of course, I might not feel this way, if I didn't get a room. LOL

Hopefully everyone who wants to go will be able to through the waitlist. Don't want to see DVC go to the once you've gone you can't go on the next one.

Baby new update - I called up to Chicago and my SIL's mom answered. She said that my brother was a little busy, my SIL is just about to deliver. So, I'm going to be an aunt again soon!!!

Mine would have to be anything chocolate with out nuts. We loved the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream at castaway cay. Can't wait to go back to get it.

You and me sweetums - I'll buy the first bowl. Your DH can get with my DW and get the minty stuff. Have you guys tried out "Cold Stone Creamery" yet? It is daBomb--- Sweet cream ice cream (made in the store) and then hand mixed with a chunk of Choc Chip Cookie dough while you watch (drool)

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my son. I've got alot of reading to do! The Doctor gave me a stack of papers. Alot of contact numbers.She was realy a great Doctor. Aaron will be 8 soon.So it's realy late knowing for sure he is autistic.We were told around age 3 that he might be but they didn't want to say. I gave up on that hospital and got an answer in one day! So all is well with us. Aaron has been in schools that knew about him since age 3.So without the doctors help he's still on target.Thank goodness for special ed. teachers that work in preschools! Sorry its so long . Just thought I would tell everyone.Thanks again!

Haven't said it yet - but have been meaning to (I can bring myself to whap out the pixie dust - will probably cost me some testosterone) but my thoughts and well wishes are with you, your son & family. No smileys - just dead serious.

2. Waitin for babies - You guys got em, we thought NAH.. I'm a GREAT uncle though... Wind em up & give em back. (Yes, me and my sister are a "tad" estranged.)

4. Karen and I have Brian Setzer tickets tonight at the State Theater (for the Detroit and SE Mich folks.) So fun to be had by all.

3. Snow's finished, we're dug out, the road crews are finished on the highways and I was off today .

Caleb Wade was born at 3:59pm CST. 6 lbs, 1 oz and 19" long

My side of the family is SO excited because we already have 5 girls (my 2 and my sister's 3), so this is the first little boy. He's going to be one spoiled little guy!!!

I'm stuck in my office! The office was officially closed at 3pm but no-one can get out of our office park so I'm staying here. Actually employees who left the office an hour ago are now coming back in because they weren't able to leave our parking lot. I can't believe how bad it is outside. I know I live in New England and this is kind of weather should be expected but this is ridiculous! Annmarie
