Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. It's a sad day, but I've known it's been coming for a while. Now to make all you guys sad too--here's a pic of Penny I took yesterday, I tried taking some with her and the girls but not one of them would cooperate! :confused3

NO Steve, Emily is not going to be your new best friend just because she has an "in" with the Hooter's girls!

Thanks Gail! It looks like it's croup, which is EXACTLY what she had on SSMC05, when I had to call Karen's DH, since she had never had it before. Anyway, she's sleeping with Chris right now, and I would imagine that it'll be a long night. But, at least she's sick now, and not in 2 weeks.

Hope she feels better soon. :wizard:
Knock on wood it happened before the cruise and will hopefully be gone efore then too.

The stories I hear are awful, but I never had to deal with inlaws, so I don't know from experience...never had the privalege of knowing my inlaws

Count your lucky stars then!

I breezed out of chat last night like wildfire. Gary received a call from the 1st grade soccer commissioner that there was a brawl during Walker's teams game yesterday and the other players left the field bruised & bloody. So, Gary immediately called the assistant coach as Gary wasn't there --- to hear another side of the story. The other coach is saying it was our players. The Assistant Coach is saying it was their players and parents. In the end, we still don't know what happened. Two things I'm thankful for -- that Gary doesn't have to figure out the "true" story and we missed the game. :) We already have enough headaches, so someone was looking out for us. Besides, I wouldn't want Walker to experience that type of unsportsmanlike behavior.

That's just crazy. Good thing Walker wasn't at the game. What is this world coming to when there is a brawl at a 6yr old soccer game.

Glad you had a good day at your SIL. Sounds like a wonderful fall day.

:grouphug: Diana, I am thinking of you and your family today. I too got a bit teary eyed with Pennys picture. May you have the extra strength needed today and be sure to take time for yourself as well.

My quest of the day is to achieve 2750 posts! Only need 5 more so it could be done :woohoo:

Squid
Oh, I have NO doubt that you'll get to 2750!!!

:grouphug: to Diana on this tough day. :(

U TOP. A sad one at that.

pdfg pixiedust: and for all who need some today.

Hey scrapbookers,
Here is what I wound up doing with the paint can handle. I took straws, I wanted red ones but could only find striped ones for now. So I used red, yellow and blue striped straws, cut them to about 3/4 inch and split them up the side so they could "wrap" around the handle. In between each straw I put curled ribbon, alternating between red, yellow and white. It looks pretty good I think but would look better with all red straws.

Another beautiful, if chilly day here today! Have a good one everyone.

P.S. sure hope Madison is feeling better Amy. I hate the temp spike that goes with croup. Three days and she'll be better, then it will just be sniffles most likely.

A brawl at a first grade soccer game? You've got to be kidding me? I coached youth soccer for many years from first graders through a number of travel teams. I've seen irate parents at the higher levels, but I would have never tolerated that kind of behavior from any of my parents. I cannot imagine what they would have been fighting about at a first grade age game. What ever happended to playing the game for the fun of it? I'm just glad you and your son were not there, but the pity of it it is if you league is run with any competency, there will still be ramifications that you guys will get dragged into only because you are a part of the team.

Hey guys - chat was fun tonight and I'm sorry that I never came back. I left to go give Madison some cough medicine and found that she was also running a 103 degree fever. We tried to give her some medicine, but it backfired and she got sick. YUCK!!! Anyway, so we had to clean up, give her a bath and try to get her back to sleep (which she's now doing in our bed with Chris).

Curt - I saw that you were trying to ask a question about parking fees and I sent you a PM.
Amy....hope Madison feels better soon and here's some pixiedust: that Emily doesn't catch it!

We spent the day by Gary's sisters house. Cameron's choice. It was a beautiful day -- probably the last we are going to have this season. The kids love going there. She has a couple of horses they like to clean up after  :crazy2: . They actually fight to get to muck out the stalls --- I'm wondering who's children are these?
Now I know who to call when our stalls "pile up." We have three horses and that is not something I like to do!

Diana I feel for you! We put our Dalmation down 4 years ago. DD was only 5 at the time but she still brings up Spot and has even written papers in school about her. She was a good dog and DH and I were with her until the end. Putting animals down is definately a peaceful way to go. I held Spot on the floor while she went to sleep and that was it. She was eleven and our first BABY. We miss her and talk of her often. Our little Bichon Frise is a very different dog. We love her too but Spot will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sorry for your loss. This will be a tough day for your family!:grouphug:

Amy I hope Madison is feeling better and that she did not "share" with any of the other girls.
