I'm so sorry for your loss. You post hit me hard and got me crying. I feel terrible for you and your family.

I was having this conversation with Stacy today and haven't shared about it on the thread. My Penny is 13 and we're trying to put her down before we leave. She's just gone downhill pretty fast, she's deaf, just about blind, can barely walk most days, she's starting to become pretty agressive, especially when it comes to food and has just about lost her mind. She cannot climb up and down the 3 steps to outside but she tries to jump on the kitchen table while we are having dinner. We called the vet yesterday to get the info and we're working on picking a date. I can't say she would survive the 10 days in boarding because she'll be too confused being out of her element and I know she won't survive the winter months and won't be able to go outside in the snow and ice.

It's so hard because it's like losing a family member.....my thoughts are with you.
Oh Diana, is a virtual

okay? What a hard decision to have to make while preparing for this trip.

I think this is one of the reasons I don't want a pet. We had a cat - stray that my uncle gave to us - when I was about 10 or 11. After a few years she either ran away, stolen, or hit by a car. We searched for her for days and never found her. That was hard enough. I don't know that I could handle actually making "the decision" after having a pet for a decade or more.

We had to put our beloved golden retriever down today. He was 15 and had developed multiple organ failure (or cancer) etiher way it would have cost about $700 just to diagnose the problem but at his age the outcome was inevitable. Thankfully he did not suffer and lived a great life but the pain of the loss is unbearable.

My boys are crushed (DH and the DS's) and I do not know how to cheer them up. I know the cruise will help but any ideas (any good movies out there I can take them to?) to help them through it would be great. This weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving so we get an extra day to do things. I plan on doing a scrapbook page once the pain subsides--things are still too raw.

Pixie dust and prayers to Mary.

Jacqui

I am so sorry for your loss!

I think that normally they will let a child that is within 1 month of their birthday try out the older club. I'm not sure if they will let your 7.5 yr old, but it's worth asking.

As for excursions, I think that they are pretty strict about those ages.

Thanks Amy :thumbsup2

Hey Julie.
I just read in the allearsnet.com newsletter that they are going to have new celebration button from Guest Services beginning Oct. 1st. They are supposed to have "Just Married" buttons!!!

thanks Stacy - that's so cool ... I can't wait to see them!

What are you all wearing for dress up night? I usually wear dress Capri's with a sweater set or a skirt with a nice shirt for dinner. Then DH and kids wear khakis and golf shirts. Will they need a button down dress shirt? Will I need a nice dress? Thanks for any help here.

Last year (except for Palo night) Matt wore docker style pants and polo style shirts each night.

I wore capri's, pants or a casual skirt to dinner.

I make my DH wear a tie that night (and I mean kicking and screaming!) b/c we try to do at least one nice dressy picture on the cruise.

HELP! DH in need of male moral support!

This DH was just notified that I will be wearing a tie to Tritons. So I'm packing the ugliest tie I can find. There is another challenge, if we have to wear a choker then lets make em pay. Just a thought.

Glad Tom is already asleep or he may be agreeing with you on this one! :rotfl:

That would be fine. Nick's had a couple of summers of swim lessons so I'm not overly concerned. Especially since he just needs to stand up to get his head above water.
How old are Cameron and Nick again? I didn't realize I could give David some of these priviledges like the beeper and going to the pool. This may be a dumb question but how and when do we use the beeper and is it used on the island too? :confused3

Curt I am going to guess "The Crocodile Hunter" in memory of Steve Irwin

Jacqui, so sorry to hear your sad news.

Diana, same thing, it is most difficult for sure.

:grouphug:

Diana, this can't be an easy decision to deal with. You're in my thoughts.

Jacqui, it's really sad to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you and the family. The adopt an animal at the zoo idea seem like a most ideal sentiment. I'll have to remember that as a suggestion for others.

Hang in there!

I'll bring all of them, but I have 3 Minnie ears and 1 Mickey. So, anyone that wants to borrow them, no problem.
What an awesome idea! Can anyone share ideas as to where some cool spots would be on the cruise to take a family christmas card photo ?
