I just got the cruise update email that talks about bringing pirate gear. From past Member cruises, it is a big issue if DH & I don't dress 'pirate-like'?We are coming from the "Great White North", Arctic Circle, in Canada(3,000+ miles from Disney!!!) and can't pack a whole lot for our trip (airline regulations).

For DH & I, dressing like pirates entails wearing a black tshirt with a skull & cross bones on it. Nothing fancy for us.

Also, I just noticed my passport is due to expire in Dec/06. Any issue with that with customs (concerned about the Bahamas)? Pls advise.
I don't have time to renew my passport now as we leave in 5 weeks & it can't be done from our remote location. Is this going to be a major problem?

Passports are not necessary this year.

I really really want to dress up for MNSSHP, but time's ticking and my creative abilities stop at the sewing machine. Emma has decided that she is going to be Snow White and Bruce is going to be Grumpy. Well, we have a Grumpy sweatshirt, so he's covered there. Julia's favorite is Cinderella, and my big plan was to be the Fairy Godmother, but right now it's looking like I'm going to be me.

Last year for pirates night, Bruce wore a POTC tshirt and I wore and I <3 Pirates shirt. This year I think we'll dress for dinner in our regular clothes and wear our pirate shirts afterwards.
Ok, I "might" be able to help you with the Fairy Godmother costume. If things work out, my mom might be making a FG costume for Emily's 5th birthday party. Our plan is for my mom to dress up as the FG and come visit the girls at their princess tea party. If she actually does get it done, you could borrow it. It might be a bit big for you, since you lost all that weight, skinny-minnie, but since it's basically a big robe, it might work.

The gallon paint cans decorated look incredible. WAY nicer than the quart I think. They do up the handle with all sorts of ribbons. I'd be willing to bet you could find something to go inside them.

They do make very cute baby shower packages filled with baby stuff.....I've also seen them used as gift card holders......great for teens too as a gift with makeup and lotions in them!

Something tells me Steve doesn't go to very many baby showers. :rotfl2:

How about nails & rubber bands, along with twist ties? Gary seems to collect SO many of them.

Got me there ! Nope not many baby showers for the old squiddy.

I may do the paint can thing with a fishing theme and put a lb. of pipe tobacco in it for my dad's birthday though................. ;)

I think there's alot more people who don't dress in Pirate gear than that do.

I wasn't going to do the Pirate thing this year, but John wants to so we ordered new costumes. At least we can use them for the Sept cruise, the Member Cruise and the MNSSHP too. Oh, by the way are any other adults dressing for the Halloween party at WDW? Deanna said there is no way she's going to be a pirate (hmmmm, wonder who's buying her costume :) ) she wants to be a crash test dummy

I agree with Gail. On our 7 day in Jan there werent a "lot" of people dressed up but I think with the poularity of the new POTC and it being close to Halloween there may be a few more. I am sure we will be wearing our costumes for MNNSHP too.

Just like last year, we're going to have excitment spurts. This is one of them! Next time you post, just ask if you've missed anything.....I'll take notes for you!

After reading 100000 pages I forgot what I was going to say - doh!

Diana - love love love the paint cans!!! I never would have thought of that and now have a new project (um Matt may need to speak to you if this becomes one that requires more space :rotfl2: )

We're heading to Chicago this weekend to see my family and stay at my sister's. Mary and Cindy I would have said something earlier but it's one of those weekends with no time as we have family committments - plus we are trying on the wedding dress WOO HOO and going to DA CUBS game  .

Whew good job! I'll need an update on how many soaps Cindy stole from Mary.

By the way, Tina & Steve/Coleen are from our neck of the woods too. ;)

Except for Mary is coming to Cindy's house Saturday and I'm not telling where we keep our stash. At least not until Sunday. :ssst:

Steve (and Tina) we're seeing Gary Sinise in Schaumburg Saturday night. Want to join us? Of course trying to find each other could be a chore. Just look for the booth where Cindy is selling DCL lotion at $2 a packet.

I would love to but I am on FD call :sad2:

We have lost more than half of the paramedics on our department since Jan of 2005. Just had another quit last month leaves us with 6 total and only 5 of them are very active  That mean Squiddy is on call A LOT :furious: But we have a few who are finishing up their training. But they may move on soon after so we will still be hurting. So between the full time ambulance and the FD I am on my 7th of 9 days in a row

I wish we could get up to the city area more often though it would be fun.

You are all more than welcome. If you want, you could even meet at our house, it might be easier that way. Just let me know.

I already have a baby sitter lined up for Walker, so it's Mom & Dad's night out! :cool1:

Heck, next year it will sell for $4 some I'm going to stash it away for another year.

I see now it's not an option for you. Maybe another time.

It's funny you'd like to come out this way. Cameron would love to spend more and more time at Gary's sister's home out in Wilmington, which is a hop skip and jump from you. It's definately different than our area, that is for sure.

Hope all is safe this weekend and no major emergencies. :firefight

And, for everyone traveling this weekend pixiedust: -- Safe travels pixiedust:
