Oh Ilene - Pixie Dust for you that everything works out just fine. I know all about those scary times trying to figure out how to pay for college. Every semester was like that in school for me. But, somehow, some way, it all got figured out in the end.IleneF said:Well we had a tense day yesterday. I'm sorry I haven't been here most of the week. It's been crazy here, the sh-t is hitting the fan so to speak. Had to finish up getting loans for the kids for school and found out when DH, Murt, went to cosign that he was NOT approved due to the fact he borrowed via personal credit card money for his business and his debt/income ratio is too high. Since we share the same credit card, I also was not approved.
So dd, Michelle tried for the loan without a coborrower and we think she will get it but she's not happy because it's at 11%, YIKES. I have a home equity line of credit that I will pull from for her for her last two years and told her not to worry about finishing her degree, but this was scary. She's a straight A student but her school does not offer much in the way of financial aid aside from federal loans which she is maxing out as well. You'd think they'd do something for such a good student. Now, my son, Matthew, will have a REAL problem. He needs to find a cosigner because his credit got messed up when he missed a couple payments this spring. He didn't have the money (hard to work when your attending Law School!) and didn't ask us for it and didn't make ANY payment. I told him next time either to ask OR to make at least a little payment but not skip it altogether (how can these kids be so smart and so stupid at the same time, LOL). If he stays at the school he's at he'll be OK because he's got a scholarship but if he transfers to GW like
he wants to and should (they have Law internship interviews at top firms already lined up for him the other school does not) he needs to find a cosigner, probably my brother but he's kind of nasty about it sooooo...and DH has decided to close the business, FINALLY! He hasn't been making any money for some time and we can't live this way anymore, but now he has
to find a job so that is very scary. He hasn't worked for someone else in the 26 yrs we've been married! He has a degree in business/marketing but so much has changed since he graduated. He has some friends he will ask about job prospects so hopefully something will work out. Anyone have a job or an idea for my dh (they call this using your resources,LOL)? Needless to say it's tense around here. I'd better get / stay healthy or
we'll lose our house! Now that IS scary.
All this with a cruise coming up...good thing it's already paid for! Thanks for lending an ear!
