fireplug said:and those of you in Northeastern ILL. A big ole green, red, orange and yellow radar blob of weather is coming our way. Winds in excess of 70 mph heavy rain, the whole shebang! That USUALLY shuts the cable down in this hamlet so I may be offline for a little while.
I will check back in when I can.

Doesn't it figure!

Not only did we soak the garden for about 3 hours this morning, but rain will definately put a "damper" on our outdoor plans for tomorrow.
Steve, you and Coleen stay safe, it seems like the storms out by you are always more intense than by us.

Stacy, we've been to the Field Museum several times. We'd love to go tomorrow and see the King Tut exhibit but it looks like we're a little late to buy tickets as they are sold out from what I can tell.

I was just thinking about this today. One of the last times we went to the Field Museum, it was raining cats and dogs. We had brought my Mom along with us to spend the day. My Mom is handicapped and uses a wheel chair to get around. So, it's raining like the dickens when we got down there. Gary dropped me and the kids off and we ran to the door. We're waiting and waiting for Gary, my Mom & her caregiver. Finally, they show up and all of them are completely soaked. Apparently, they found a rather large pothole that Gary happened to push my Mom into and tossed her out of her wheelchair. So, there they are, in the parking lot, with my Mom laying in a huge puddle and the two of them trying to get her back into her wheelchair.
As if that isn't enough, we can't figure out how to get into the museum via the handicapped entrance. So, by the time we finally walked almost all the way around the building and got inside, we were all soaked. After we made sure my Mom didn't need any medical attention, the museum must have taken pity on us because they gave us free admission that day. Since we were all soaked and cold, we didn't stay long.
Good thing now parking is available at Soldier Field across the street now. How things have improved. I do know the pot hole was fixed on 9/11 as I received a phone call that day from the park district asking me to describe exactly where the pot hole was so they could take care of it and make sure that no one else fell into it. I remember thinking at the time there were much better concerns than a pot hole at the Field Museum but the man told me he was assigned to take care of it that day.
It's funny now but at the time, it certainly wasn't.
