2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 3

Diana and Amy - I would love to hear how you prepare and pack your things for the scrapbooking weekends. That really seems like something I would like to do and would love to hear more about it. We do them locally at a good friends home when her husband goes on his annual fishing trip and it's so much fun!

Well, I can tell you that most of my scrapbook events that I've gone to out of town have been class opportunities, more than crop events. I've been to 3 CKUs (Creating Keepsakes University) and they are set up like a school. You take 10 classes over 2 days, along with crops in the evenings. But, because the teachers give you class projects that can't necessarily be completed in class, you have "homework" that you can do at the crops. Plus, the crops are more like big parties with contests and socializing going on all the time.

The one that I'm going to in September is called Creative Escape by Heidi Swapp (big name in scrapbooking for those non-scrappers). Her event is also a class-based event.

I only bring the basic tools that I'll need to use at these events (trimmer, tool kit, adhesive, etc). If I think that there might be time for me to crop, I'll bring a couple of pre-planned page kits that I just need to assemble and add pictures and journaling.

Does that make sense? So, I don't have to do much to actually pack for the event. I have yet to do a big crop event because I'm just overwhelmed with the idea that I would need to get organized enough to bring what I need, but not overpack.

I have already gotten an e-mail back from DCL that these are all booked and we should see them on our online accounts. Sure enough I checked and mine is there for 1pm! YEAH! A great big thank to you the excursion manager on the Magic who got this started for me and the for excursion manager on land who made it all happen!

Since you went to 3 you must have liked them. Thats good to know. Im going to the Houston one in Sept--my first. Im very exicted over several of the classes they are offering.

Yes, much easier to pack. The problem comes with trying to pack to return home. All of these events have TONS of giveaways, so I have to pack an empty suitcase to bring home all the LOOT.

Oh, I love them! After that first year, I told Chris that he should have never let me go, because I was going to go EVERY year. And, I was all set to go to CKU-Albums in Atlanta this year, but when Heidi Swapp's Creative Escape was announced, I just had to try it out!

Well, there are ALL kinds of companies that do different scrapbook events.

For CKU, you can go to www.creatingkeepsakes.com and click on CKU. They will also be announcing the dates for next year in the next month or so.

For Creative Escape, you can go to www.creativeescapeaz.com. This is the first one, but I'm wondering if they will do it every year now.

There are lots of others.

That's pretty much my exact itinerary with the exception of we are at BWV the 20th and 21th, we are taking DCL transfers to the port and our LTT PS is at 4:20 I believe.

Well we got my MIL all packed up and everything on the truck. In the middle of that chaos we picked up new car!
We took my MIL out for dinner to say good bye then I had to stop at my local scrapbook store to meet up with a friend to give her her Tastefully Simple order (and do a little shopping too).
Now I just want to take a nap!

Luckily tomorrow Jeff & I are only working half a day then going to his union's picinic (which is always fun)
Saturday we head down to my sisters to go swimming, she lives on a lake, and maybe take the boat out.

Ummm, that would be us at least some of the time.

We arrive on Friday and are staying at OKW Friday and Saturday. I'm sure there's going to be a DIS meet on Saturday - didn't Mary post about it being at the BCV by the quiet pool?

Sadly, we won't be making the Grand Gatherings on Friday as we have a flight home that night.

We'll be at Boardwalk before and after the cruise. We will be having a DIS meet at the Beach Club Saturday afternoon in the Solarium (not far from the quiet pool but not at it). We are also doing LTT on the 26th but won't be staying for MNSSHP. I'm really looking forward to the Wishes cruise!
