I'm back! Thanks for All your pixiedust: prayers and good wishes, they worked! Surgery was a breeze. My oldest dd Dawn works in the OR so she came in early before her shift to help out. One of the Soccer Mom's from Deanna's team is a Nurse Anesthetist there. In Pre Op every DR, Nurse, Assistant that came in said "I hear you are Dawn's mom" I meant to check and see if there was blinking sign outside my room. I Don't remember much about the Surgery area, which is the way I like it. Recovery was quick and I was home early. Just a bit sore.

John has been very helpful - but I wouldn't have expected any less from him - he's just that way! He even went out and planted my Disneyland Rose Bush that Carol sent to me.

Around 7 PM and just after trying out the cool drugs they gave me, I hear Deanna and her friends at the door. Alot of commotion and then I hear a man's voice along with the girls. They now are getting closer to the family room where I'm at and I'm thinking, if Deanna is bringing in the neighborhood for viewings of her drug induced mom I'm going to kill her. The girls are all trying to tell me the same thing at the same time and Deanna's crying. She then opens her mouth and shows me her front tooth that broke off, so I finally get the story from the dad that walked Deanna home. The girls were having a water fight with the hose and at one point the nozzle flew off and hit Deanna's front tooth. Nothing else on her mouth, just the tooth. It broke about 3/4 of it off. OK, I'm awake now! I called the dentist and she said to Deanna to keep the tooth as a souvenier and to come in this morning and she will rebuild her tooth.

We're hoping for a quieter day today!

Sorry we've been mia. My father in law in Chicago passed away on Friday (I was married before and my husband passed away) so I flew to Chicago Monday for the wake and funeral. It was great to see everyone but a very hard trip to make.

Julie sorry about the loss of your father in law.

Oh NO!!! I sure hope Deanna is ok!!!:teeth:

Welcome back Gail - we missed you!

Sorry to hear about Deanna's tooth. Here is some pixiedust: for her so that she will soon be back to this :teeth:

Glad to see you posting and happy to hear your feeling up to it! pixiedust:

I'm sorry about Deanna's tooth -- been there, done that. :(

When I was about Deanna's age, friends and I were at the school. There were these kids running around on the roof of the school and being the good kids we were, we knew this wasn't a good thing. So, we go to the back of the school and start knocking on the door. The janitor came along, pushed the metal door and slammed me right in the mouth. Much like Deanna, I thought I was going to die and it was the end of the world. We tried the rebuild but it didn't last long -- I broke it on a piece of gum i wasn't suppose to be chewing. So, I ended up with a crown which -- knock on wood -- has lasted about 30+ years at this point. I'm sure things have improved a lot since then so hopefully the rebuild will work for her. Hi all,

How comeI I have a strange craving for a Palos Chocolate Souffle...

:figment:

Cindy

Avon makes a bug repellent/sunscreen and it is a spray pump. It is called Skin So Soft. Do not get the kids version because it is blue (what a mess). We always bring it with us to WDW and Hilton Head. For some reason mosquitos LOVE me and this stuff seems to work without smelling like bug spray.

Avon also makes a Skin So Soft with bug repellent and sunscreen. Don't get the blue, because no matter how hard you try, you can't make it all disappear! Just ask my Smurf kids! :rotfl2:

Should have read a little more before I posted

I have to say it depends on how much of the actual tooth is left. If Deanna broke about 3/4 the composite will last awhile. They are probably telling you that she will need a full coverage crown when she hits about 18. I hope she does not need a root canal. Sometimes the dentist will put composite on the tooth and just wait and see if a root canal is needed later. Good luck! Not something you wanted to deal with right after surgery I am sure.

Julie---my sympathy to you on the loss of your FIL.

Hope that Deanna will soon be showing her beautiful smile again soon! :teeth:

Did you know they distributed the recipe for that via postcard about a year ago? My DD and her bestfriend made it once (a little complicated) and it came out terrific...now if they could somehow recreate the carribean breezes and ocean/beachy smell from Castaway Cay I'd be all set.:thumbsup2:woohoo:

Julie,
Sorry to hear about the passing of your FIL. Hope you have some nice memories to help you through a difficult time.

Gail,
Glad to hear all went well. Never have to worry about that again. I also had mine removed about 10 yr ago. For awhile your fat metabolism may off (read loose bowels) especially if you eat high fat meals ie: fries, shakes etc. No one told me about this and I would have like to know so I'm telling you. Kinda like a force diet, LOL. After all these years as far as I can tell everything is back to "normal" whatever that is! I had the laparascopic version but my recovery was not as quick as some so give yourself some time to heal you'll be back to your old self in no time.

I'm back from my epidural nerve block. They say to expect same or slightly more pain for 36 hrs. Then within 3-5 days it should be much better. The hardest part was the IV they have to put in for sedation. They "missed" the first time and being an ex-medical technologist I don't have a lot of patience for that! The sedation hardly did anything I think, I didn't even feel sleepy or dizzy or anything. Then they put in novacaine in your spine and then they put the steroid in. It stays in your body for 3 weeks and is supposed to reduce inflamation. I hate this as I'm a "earthy crunchy" person that doesn't even do motrin or tylenol unless I'm in really bad pain. I use homeopathics mostly and accupuncture and supplements like fish oil. So this is a
major thing for me. But the pain was bad enough to keep me from work and I have to get back there so I did what seemed necessary. Probably all more than you want or need to know...Main thing..procedure went well and I'm doing OK.

Ilene, that does sound like an ordeal and I'm sure your glad it's overwith.

Hopefully it will help relieve your pain. pixiedust:

Ilene I'm glad your nerve block is over. :sunny: I sure hope it gives you the relief that you need. I can't imagine the pain you are in everyday.
