It's just one of those things you have to try!

Jones Sodas are reeally good though. I really like the cream soda.

Uh, no thanks....really!

Cindy--a ding is a special fare offered by Southwest. You download a program and every day they "ding" you with a special discount fare to certain destinations for a specific date range and you only have a few hours to buy at that price.

Sounds like we have the same itinerary already! I'm hoping to do MNSSHP on Thurs night when we return and leave on Saturday if we drive or Sunday morning if we fly!

Sounds like you're listing off our itinerary too.
Although I do not want to drive. We plan on leaving on sunday. Just waiting on Southwest now.

I'm sure missing that day of preschool will set her back years in her studies. ;)

What the heck is a ding? :confused3
I don't give it a second thought taking Emily out of preschool for my Disney fix. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As for a Ding, it's for Southwest Airlines. You download the software from their site and they have random DING fares during the day. Usually you only have a few hours to decide. I got a GREAT ding fare from Orlando to Norfolk to visit my sister in a few weeks. We're going for only $80/person.

Mom & Dad are doing a long weekend the end of January because of the SW Ding. The are leaving Jan 26th and coming back the 30th. Nick was originally going with them but plans changed and my sister is going instead!

We'd love to do the fireworks cruise but I think we'll have family obligations those evenings as the families arrive on Thursday night after we leave the cruise. We're doing MNSSHP on Halloween (yes, I know, we're certifiable).

That pop sounds um - yucky!

Dings - wow do I wish we could have those. PLEASE repeal the WRIGHT AMENDMENT so those of us in the DFW area are no longer held hostage by American's pricing (oh and in case you work for them I am currently a platinum flyer so I do prefer them). We can't get under $200 on a good day to Orlando and it's direct.

ahhh, I see now. Southwest only flies out of Midway from Chicago and that's kind of far from home. By the time we pay for a limo to get there and figure the additional travel time, it's most likely not worth it for us.

Thanks for the explanation.

Um, Julie, are we not family? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Roxann - I think it sounds great and have already pm'd you our info. One question. Sounds like these boats are bigger than the ones for Illuminations. Am I correct? I thought those only held about 12 or so.

Correct! They are a large pontoon boat that has a roof so even if it rains you are fine! We had 14 family members in May and did the Hoop Dee Doo, Chef Mickeys and the Magicl Fireworks Voyage. Everyone still talks about the fireworks! DD listens to her Wishes CD almost every night. It was a great cruise for a decent price IMO. I think the event lasted a couple of hours. We are excited others want to join us for another cruise. :cheer2:

We have tickets already because we got bumped last month while coming home from DL. We wanted to fly out Thursday the 19th, but all we could get was a red eye. I hate red eyes, so we opted to fly ALL day Friday and we leave late on Saturday the 28th. We don't get home until almost midnight. That will give us Sunday to recooperate for school and DH's work on Monday.

When the tickets are FREE you take what you can get! ;)

So, who has done Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? We have not and I would like to know about costumes (does everyone dress up)? Are all the rides open? Where is the trick or treating located? Pictures with Characters?
More information, please.

We will try to hit F&W at least 1 day. I think this cruise is planned during a great time. So many things to plan! F&W, MNSSHP,cruise excursions, etc. etc.

We have dont MNSSHP a couple of times. The little ones (3 and 5) dress up but the rest of us dont. Though I have seen lots of adults dressed up as well. I dont remember any rides that were closed. We rode everything we wanted to. Trick or treat stations are set up all over the park. The Boo to You parade is very, very cool and this year the fireworks show they had was Hallowishes and it was so awesome! Im sure there are some characters our and about but we didnt look for any. We did eat at LTT before the party and the characters there are dressed for Halloween.

If there were enough people interested maybe we could book the Grand Gathering Magical Fireworks Voyage. We did it last Oct and it was soooo great. It starts our with a dessert reception with Capt Hook and Mr Smee. They the split you into 2 groups--we were with Capt Hook. Then you get on a fairly big boat--holds 60 I believe (we had 24 in our group). We watched the EWP float by then got a great position right in front of MK and watched Wishes. It is piped into the boat so you do hear all of it.

We've done MNSSHP a couple of times and it is great. The week night ones are usually better only because they aren't as crowded. You get a small trick or treat bag as you enter and there are trick or treat locations all around the park. They usually have Cinderellas coach out behind the castle for pictures.

We've dressed up for it in the past (using the same costumes we now take for pirate night on the cruise).

We've also done LTT before the party and the character interaction there is great. One time there was a gentleman at the next table who had a texas size hat on (huge foam hat for the Texas longhorns I believe). Chip stopped by and took it from him and wore it all around. It was so funny!

The awesome thing about the fireworks at the show (and also at the Christmas show) is that they end with the ones that go 360 around the park. Very very cool!

We've done MNSSHP a couple of times too. The first year, the kids dressed up in their costumes and Gary & I wore orange shirts with jack-o-lantern faces printed on them. This year, Cameron wouldn't have any part of dressing up, so we didn't and we were fine. I would say about 1/2 of the people dress up. We did see a lot of families in themes -- the one we saw the most this year were families of 5 dressed up as The Incredibles. Now Walker asks me when we are doing to dress up as The Incredibles. Somehow, I don't see me as Elasta Girl. :earseek:

When Cameron & I went this year, it rained, all day and a good part of the night. The park was empty and we were able to stay on rides. Even Splash Mountain had to be stalled a bit to let the empty logs go down the drop. We had an awesome time.

We've done LTT also. The CM's are dressed like the Haunted Mansion. It still kind of creeps Cameron out thinking about their apparance.

We've also done MNSSHP several times. The first 2 years, we dressed up as a whole family. One year we wore 50s style clothes, poodle skirts, etc. The next year, Chris was Peter Pan, I was Wendy and Emily was Tinkerbell. Last year, just the girls were dressed up, because my mom didn't have the time to make us all costumes. But, if I can work it out, and come up with a good theme, I think that we'll all dress up again. I think that it's fun.

The Hallowishes fireworks are awesome and the parade is fantastic. And, there are characters all over the park. That's Emily's favorite park. As for rides, we don't do many because the girls like the trick-or-treating and characters, but they all seemed open.

We have also done LTT for dinner one year and it was great. The girls just loved seeing the characters before the party. And, you also get a family picture taken with a MNSSHP background and they mail it to you a few weeks later. This year ours turned out awesome.

Ok GMTA!

That thought crossed my mind too but with the holidays it didn't get very far.
I think that's cool. Might have to check out some other Grand Gatherings options too to see what they offer.

I looked after I saw the original suggestion. I liked the Illuminations one.

I'm not sure what our plan is yet, but we'll probably spend Sat night at WDW before, then do MNSSHP on Thurs when we return. We'll probably drive home on Saturday afternoon.

I'm so glad you guys brought up MNSSHP! (First I had to remember what it stood for). Not ever having been in WDW that time of year, I forgot all about it. Can someone point me to info on it or give me the 30 second spiel on what it entails? Thanks.

This is what I found when I was looking last night. http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/halloween.htm I'm sure everyone else will be a lot more help than I am, because we've never been and I was asking others a million questions about it last night! :rotfl2:

Oh, and Mary mentioned that they have Cinderella's coach out behind the castle. But, this last year, they had it in front of the old Sky Buckets, by Small World.
