I had shorts and a t-shirt on today, it was a balmy 40 degrees. :rotfl2: :rotfl: I don't need to move to FL with warm weather like this in NY :rotfl: :rotfl2:

And I decided to do the circle journal.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Now I won't be the only novice!

Still looking for flights that will work. Something has to be there somewhere :worried: that's not going to cost us an arm, a leg, my first born, my second born and my husband.

Well, in that case, hmmm, I bet I could find a flight just for myself. :scratchin :sad1:

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my scrapbook page. The pictures of the castle in the different colors are what made me come up with the color block layout.
Cindy - the corners are not Mickey ears unfortunately. It's a fancy corner rounder I got from Creative Memories.

MaryJ - Glad to hear you are going to do the Circle Journal with us It's going to be fun!

Amy - Yea for you on the countertops. Who paints a countertop? That's a new one on me.

Oh and about The fruitcake rumor. This is what I have to say.
January004.jpg

I got this at Target. It's the front of a Christmas card.

Trust me, I never heard of it either. Until that first day that the paint chipped off (about a week after we moved in) and I saw PINK underneath. My question is, who makes PINK laminate, and who chooses PINK laminate????

That's a good question. Is it an older home?
That might help explain it. :confused3
They had some interesting color combos a few generations ago.

It is a bit older, built in the early 70s. I do know who put in the pink countertops. It was the old lady before me. We also had pepto-bismol pink carpeting too!!! It was just awful!! Luckily, we got a carpeting rebate, so we put in beige carpet before we even moved in. But boy, we missed the pink countertops that were painted.

Good morning everyone! It's going to be a beautiful day here in central FL. I'm going to spend my day cleaning and packing for my trip to see my sister. We fly out of Orlando tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure that Chris is looking forward to a nice quiet weekend alone. :goodvibes

Amy, I'm glad all is well in countertopland. That sure was a project, wasn't it. :headache: Once your all settled back in, it will only be a bad dream come true. And, you have the lasting effects to make the trouble a bit smoother.

We lucked out when we moved into our house. Tan in one bathroom, pale yellow in the other. Nothing I couldn't live with. The very first thing that we changed, though, was the burnt orange carpet and dark, dark brown paneling in the family room. It was so dark and small in there because of the colors. So, the carpet came out, we painted the paneling a tan with 1 tone darker tan in the lines (they were wide lines if that makes sense). Here we are, many years later and it still looks pretty good.

Oh, and they had also painted our bedroom a forest/evergreen green. That wouldn't have been so bad, if it was only the walls with a white ceiling. But, they also painted the ceiling that same dark color. It was like sleeping in a closet. It didn't take us long to paint that either.

Our project this upcoming weekend is to paint our small bath. In our house, the problem is that we have a 5 year old helper who thinks he's an adult and can do anything. So, I'm betting we are going to get more than we bargain for. It's the "daycare bathroom" as we call it. A nice sunny yellow and then I've picked up all sorts of Winnie the Pooh accent items. I hope it doesn't end up looking like a nursery. :worried: Then we'll move on to the kitchen. :crazy2:

Those colors sound GREAT??? Cindy!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We had an avocado green master bathroom. That's what Chris is still working on, right now. Soon, it will be just white & beige (very neutral). My next project will be to paint our family room paneling. It's real wood paneling, so it's nice, but it's too dark compared to the rest of the house. I'm going to paint it a nice creamy tan to match the stones on the fireplace.

Oh, I forgot. In our family room, we have a very dark brick fireplace. So, add that to the burnt orange carpet and dark paneling. :crowded:

Painting the paneling was a breeze. We were worried about how it would work and turn out. We primed it first and then put the paint on. It's lasted 13 years now without a problem.

When we moved into our house we had a purple bathroom. It was ugly and the first thing that we painted over and our kitchen had wallpaper with big red flowers  that we painted over as well.

Our house was covered in wallpaper, everywhere. Luckily, we had about 2 months from closing until our apartment lease was up, so we stripped wallpaper, painted and recarpeted. It was like a new house.

Then, the next year, we changed the harvest gold tiles in the pool to blue dolphin tiles, which made the pool look SO different.

Another TZ moment. We had burnt orange carpet in our family room with dark dark paneling!! We immediately ripped that out and replaced as it smelled like dog pee and within seconds of bringing our dog into the house she started marking her territory. :crazy2: A couple of years later we painted the paneling a nice tan color, and just a few months ago we put pergo flooring down, much, much better. I wish I had a before/after of that room as it went from the worst in the house to the best.

As for bathroom, our master bath was turquoise. Yup--turquoise toilet, sink and shower stall, along with turquoise wallpaer with huge white daisies on it. The funny thing is, that bathroom also has heat lamps and when you turned them on, it was the scariest thing ever. We fixed that up, only keeping the blue shower and floor and painted the walls yellow to draw the attention away from the turquoise. The girls bathroom is pink, pepto bismol pink and grey tiling. We SO need to gut that sucker. I tried to overcome the color by decorating in the princesses, but even the princess pink clashes with this nasty color. I'm in denial about the whole thing. The 3rd bathroom was 70s yellow and has since been updated to a lovely light green.

Our place had wallpaper on everything that wasn't wood paneled. Luckily the paneling wasn't dark, it was a lighter paneling.
We now have the paneling with a light beige berber carpet in the living room. We painted the kitchen wall a merlot or wine color which really brought out the grain in the cabinets and makes them look a lot nicer.
My bathroom we first painted a peachy color but it was a little to bright so we sponge painted over it and I did a whole Cape Cod beach house feel in there with a painted sea shell border and shells ina bowl and a light house picture on the wall by the tub. It came out pretty good.
Nicks room has light green walls and my bedroom now has light blue walls.
Overall I'm happy with what we have done!

Diana - did you get the email from JoAnn's with the 50% off coupon for Fri & Sat.? And did you see today's Ac Moore add with all sizziks 50% off?

Apparently that pink was hot back in the day, lol. My inlaws have that pink in their bathroom and one of my friend has that color in her bathroom too. I agree it is ugly.

Stitch - check your message - the link is broken. The text is fine, but the tags are probably messed up. Duh :crazy2: , I could just put it here: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/stacyj69/January003.jpg

Someone had a similar problem on a thread about ship maps. I wonder if the IMG button is broken or if people are just pasting the URL in the IMG tags aren't being inserted like they are supposed to be.
