Oh Vicki we are literally in the same boat. (Dumb pun intended!!) :boat:

We are going to Disneyland for her 7th birthday in July (3rd-7th). So we will be fundless when we return! This little girl's birthday ends up lasting 6 days and costing me a fortune! She REALLY needs a job! Too bad those labor laws keep me from putting her to work!!

I have to admit though, the excitement of the cruise has really helped me explain dollars and cents to her. She knows we have to save "x" amount per month and suddenly she's not asking for so much, and going to Target is becoming a lot easier on my checkbook!! :rotfl:

jindy

LOL! We are indeed in the "same boat"! But Whitney watched Opra the other day and it was about how to become a millionaire and how to save so she has lots of ideas EXCEPT for when it comes to her! Like not going to the grocery store.....Kids!

I am sending a PM about something else too, ok?

Vicki

Boy, am I ever late in finding this thread!! Can someone please let me know the highlights that I've missed in 53 pages of posts! (I do NOT have time to read 53 pages of posts, I'm supposed to be cooking dinner as it is ;) )

We'll be in room 6635 (right across from you Jeff and Jen) ----

DH (Neil) and Myself - Late 30's; DS (Jody) - will be 5

This will be cruise #2 - and we haven't taken the first one yet! (Dec. 5, 4 day)(just to test the cruising "waters" so to speak). My DH has the Panama canal on his Lifelong to-do list, so it was easy to convince him to go (me, I have spending as much time as possible on Disney-related vacations on my Lifelong to-do list). WDW veterans (30 plus trips), but Cruise Newbies - so be kind:p

Welcome Aboard Jill and her crew.

This is a prety active group here. Been busy here in Tucson, hope too be home Friday night, we hope. Any way one should not stay away from this board for too long.

The pet boarding prices are pretty cheap. We pay $15 a day per critter, time 3 = $45 a day, last tip was over two weeks long so it gets pricey. The pet resort sounds great, might use it when we move to FL. I think it would be neat to have all our dogs on the cruise with us. That would be a real experience.

Got a chance to do a little paper on Canal facts etc. Almost done with it. A kinda study sheet on interesting canal information. Too Much work getting in the way of life.

Lynn has been calling DCL for us while I have been gone with no point luck as of yet. Still seems to be sold out.

Kenneling dogs isn't expensive, putting them in accomadations similar to what we like to stay in isn't!

Shoot I can't spell

My itinerary just said Los Angeles. I was quoting from that but I guess I shouldn't have added the 'port'. I guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks.

Good evening everyone... :wizard:

Love all the dog stories. I've always hoped Disney would open a resort where you could keep your pets with you. I know they do have a camping loop at FW that allows it!!
Almost Home sounds very promising. I also got a tip about one called Miss Emily's Bed & Biscuit somewhere in Orlando and Plantation Pet Resort in Oviedo (sp?) Two more to check out when we go up.
I would LOVE to find a pet sitter... but no one wants to watch 4 dogs. The fact is my DH doesn't TRUST anyone to watch the babies and care for them like we do. :) .. he doesn't even want to trust our DD.....her work days are just too long... We will be leaving out of our townhouse in Orlando and will be coming back to there... so we'd prefer they be close up there and we just don't know anyone yet! Of course we have almost a year to meet people... but I think we'd rather they be with professionals.
Rex, the oldest has the most separation anxiety. Tink and Woody are good... we've been taking them to Disney since they were 9 weeks old and the Epcot Kennel staff always spoiled them. The only problem is that Woody considers himself the protector of the group and us and is not very sociable around other dogs when he feels he has to "protect" his pack. Otherwise he is a big teddybear. I wonder how he would do in a 'playground" situation. Jessie is laid back and adapts to anything. She's Tink & Woody's mama and keeps them in line.

I wish we could find a good house/dog sitter. It is a respondsibility we would not bestowe on just anyone. The kennel we use is where two of ours came from, our puppy was from a litter by our middle dog. I know they get great care. They know where they are going and seem to want to go to the kennel. We did find a pet resort in Las Vegas that was great, nice big yard for exercise.

I keep thinking kennels could make money by selling a t-shirt that says "my puppy ( dog ) went to puppy camp and all I got was this t-shirt."

Our pups are our family, which sounds like a feeling several of us here share. Anyone else put an ID chip in their pups? Also should anyone need a great canine cancer vet, (I would hope and pray not) we can whole heartedly recommend the vet school at Ft. Collins , CO. Thanks to them we have had a great additional year with our oldest pup, Yuki, and hopefully a few more.

Hope to go camping with our kids this weekend.

Ok. I need everyone's help now. I've gotten the cruise pages as updated as I can, however I know some people have moved rooms, others still owe me some information (You can be as vague as you want - particularly about ages :) )

Please drop me an e-mail at jeffc@tiggerfan.net with the subject "Panama Canal Cruise Info" and be sure to include your disboard name so I can find you in the long list.

I'll be doing a complete update on the deck plans next Tuesday, so I want to get all the info in.

The door magnet is nearing completion. I've clean up a TON of the crud that was present in blowing these images up to size.

I'll post the new picture online soon.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Work has finally calmed down after the chaos of the last month. I'm happy about that :)

Oh yeah, deck 6 is now clobbering all the other decks for most rooms. Soon as I get all the updated info I'll post the new deck plans.

Ok, I lied. I just redid the deckplans anyway. As it stands

Deck 1 - 0 Rooms
Deck 2 - 4 Rooms + 1 Unknown room on this deck + 3 Cat 12 rooms which have to be here
Deck 5 - 4 Rooms + 1 Unknown room on this deck
Deck 6 - 19 Rooms + 4 Unknown rooms on this deck
Deck 7 - 8 Rooms
Deck 8 - 4 Rooms

and 13 additional unknown rooms of some type.

Total staterooms that I have some info for - 61

I saw that the error was started last month by the Mouse himself but I don't think it's very good luck to go around correcting him in person ....I was hoping he would see it on the DIS.....
ya think?::MickeyMo

Welcome aboard, Jill. We are a fun group - if I may say so myself!!

As far as being updated on our thread, Jeff has put together some cool stuff at www.tiggerfan.net/canal

Jeff, the only thing I can think of is to update my DD's age to "7" - but it's not a thing of major importance. So whenever to get to us is fine with me... Thanks!!

(EDIT: It looks like our stateroom isn't highlighted anymore. We're 6135 :) )

I hope u all have a great day!

Fixed and Fixed. BTW, that now makes 20 rooms of known location on deck 6. And I remember when Deck 7 thought they'd catch up :)

Is anyone else fighting the urge to buy things for the cruise?
I have been out spending some of my birthday money this week, :D and I keep seeing things that would be great for the cruise. I am trying to resist the urge to buy things.

jindy - We are going to DL July 5-6.
We think one day at DL and the other at DCA, but who knows. My in-laws live in the LA area so we don't have a good excuse to stay at Disney :(
Have a great trip, Happy Birthday to your DD.

Tigfanjeff - Thanks for putting together and updating the site. I was just looking at the roster...boy there are quite a few of DISers on board.

Danica - how fun!!!! We will have to meet up to say "HI" to each other. DD's bday is actually on the 5th - so we are doing her "Happiest Celebration on Earth" at the Plaza Inn as well as a special lunch at the Blue Bayou. But we're open that evening and the next day. (Playing it by ear...trying to work with the crowds..)

It would be nice to meet the 2 of you!

Jindy -

Its been years since I was at DL last (2001, I think) and its DS first trip.
We have no set plans other than some time in each park.
It would be nice to meet you guys. Maybe we can meet on the 6th for a parade or a Mickey Bar break. I will email or PM you when it gets closer.

Mickey Bars will be much needed. I bet it will be hot! :sunny:

They have this thing over at California Adventure - little cheesecakes dipped in dark chocolate on a stick... :hyper:

Yum! Now I'm hungry!!!!

I'll send you a PM later on tonight regarding some AP discounts on tickets...

Jin

We went to the restruant that u can see the mickey coaster at CA Adventure ... Was awesome we sat out on the Deck
and Watched people go Bye...

What was the name of It?????

We were part of non Crowd At Ca Adventure had the place to our selfs went on Soarin like 5 times That was Opening DAY.

jenn and peter,

that restaurant has changed its name a couple of times. the last two names i can recall are "avalon cove" and most recently "ariel's grotto". (if you are talking about the one on the water.) we're actually going there for the FIRST time on the 3rd.

currently it is a character restaurant. it's ariel's home - the kids can meet and greet and go down and take pics with her as she sits upon her shell or wahtever it is mermaids sit on. lol!

how fun that you were there on opening day! i will finally get to ride the tower of terror next weekend (never been on the MGM one)...so i'm looking forward to that!!

jindy

We went to Ariels Grotto for the first time over spring break - DD 5 loved it. DS 8 just couldn't grasp the concept of relaxing away from the crowds for a bit - drove him crazy watching screamin' take off and him not be on it!

Jindy,
Have a great time riding TT! We went for the AP previews and had a lot of fun. My girls all love it - I have the best picture with them in the front row with arms high in the air.
