What about from the Port to the airports? How far and are there car rental agencies closeby the port?
Gosh I haven't been down to San Pedro (Port of LA) in years! To the best of my knowledge, it's like a 25-30 minute drive from there to LAX. In terms of miles - it's close. You just have to take into consideration, that with traffic in LA a 15 mile distance could equal a 30-minute drive.
I don't know anything about transfers or rental agencies though, as I have never cruised from there (or anywhere else!!!! :earseek: ) before.

Good Morning everyone.

In a year from now we'll all be happily steaming toward curacao after waving goodbye to castaway cay.

I've updated the list with everyone that I've gotten so far, and I also have updated the deck plans.

The door magnet design is looking outstanding. The map is very cleaned up and looks a thousand times better.

Morning all! It's a beautiful sunshiney day in Utah. Hope everyone out there is having wonderful weather and that all those storms have passed over by now.

Jeff-great job on everything. You are amazing with all this stuff. I don't even know how to set up my own webpage. Guess I need to learn to do that.

There are tons of shuttle services in Calif. I have used SuperShuttle when coming in and out of John Wayne in Orange County. Anyone leaving on Sat. as soon as the ship comes in shouldn't have too many problems. The freeways shouldn't be too bad that time of morning if you are headed to the airport.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney doesn't come out with some kind of shuttle transportation from the ship to DL since they are going to know that tons of people are going to be going that way. There might even be a couple of additional companies adding that on. I ran a convention in Anaheim across from Disney in 2002, we shuttled from Long Beach to Anaheim on a Sunday, about 300 people. Took 25 minutes. I'll do some checking and call my contact down in LA with that company and see if they have any coals in the fire with regards to this.

Have a great day everyone!

Linda

It's a lovely LOUD day here with all the cicadas. Oh what a mess they are. They will be gone when I come back from my May 29 cruise :).

I was looking at http://www.primetimeshuttle.com - Prime Time Shuttle in LA area. They have a nice website but it was a little confusing figuring out if I was coming or going :) since I wasn't at an airport per se.

For up to 5 people in a private van it says $74 for a random (current) date. That's not bad.

I don't know what our plans are for SoCal yet. I know that's SHOCKING since it's *only* a year away! We may have friends already in SoCal who can pick us up. I haven't decided if we want a rental car since we will spend most of our time at Disneyland. I haven't figured out what will be most cost-effective.

I don't see that there are any rental places at the port, but maybe there are some near the port.

We have time on our side...for now!

I would be *VERY* careful about booking an early flight out. It wouldn't surprise me if the ship gets held out, at least until 8 or 9 am for press.

I saw the 'other' repositioning cruise was maintaining a 'database' and reporting interesting stats about their group. I emailed the guy that keeps it up (Jazzman)

He has sent me back an empty database -- I changed it all around to get reporting I am interested in. I entered everyone and now we can get information like:

How many kids in the appropriate groups?
How many DISers on what deck?
What split of M/F in kids groups?
Where is everyone from?

Any other questions you are interested in?

There are currently 104 entries (that is total persons)
There are 41 unique DISnames

Plenty of other stuff I could get!

Ask away and I'll keep posting the answers.

Where is this database that you are compiling?

It is an access database currently sitting on my computer.

Very easy to get reporting out of and posting web html pages.

or did u mean something different?

I think she's taking my info and adding into the database that jazzy set up. His database then spits out facts about how many people are from NJ etc.

Yup, that is basically it. I was very interested to know how many girls in the 5/6 age and how many boys in the 8/9 age range. The rest sort of fell out from there.

If you are interested, let me know...

JEFF i sent u a personal message... have a great night

Boston Pétér lol

ah, i get it now! so what were the results, sandra? i'm curious - how many kids in the 8-9 range? (male or female doesn't matter to me. my DD will play with either). thanks!

Good Evening Everyone! :wizard:

Trying to get ready for our journey to cheese country...LOL so i won't be checking in much for the next 10 days or so... I will be soooo far behind when I get back! Anyone here from Wisconsin? I will keep thinking that this time next year it will be a MUCH more pleasant journey we'll be on and hopefully that will keep me sane!

Has anyone taking a previous cruise taken the bus they offer from WDW to the port? Any idea on cost of that? Our place in Orlando is right behind the MK so I was thinking to just park the car there and take a Disney bus to the port... then just figure out how to get back from the airport later... there are plenty of shuttles from there.
Another option would be to split a van or something with anyone else that would be at WDW before the cruise. I guess we have plenty of time to work that out... it will probably just nag at me until I make the plans... :confused3

WOO HOO! I got my cat 3 room!!!!!! Of course it's not the one I really want so I will whine about that tomorrow. I hope I can waitlist for one of the rooms I would prefer, but at least I have a cat 3 room.

We have room 8048. I have to call them tomorrow to get everything switched around. Disney has a whole lotta my money right now. I have 2 cruises to cancel in April 05 and then the 2 cat 7s I have for the current cruise.

I'm soooooo happy now. I will enjoy being able to eat dinner or breakfast in the room. I'm sure with 2 weeks at sea I will want to do that at some point.

I wish they had DVD players in the rooms and not VCRs. Who uses VCRs? That is *so* 20th century...

Oh, now I will have to sacrifice a small farm of animals to pay for the cruise. It is a very pretty penny. I could buy a small car for what this costs!!! But it's worth it...
