Is anyone else having to log in each and everytime they come here? For me it has been just the last two days, I even have checked the box to remember me  Oh well, at least we have a "here" to come to :worship:

I told my boss about my vacation time for this cruise back last May when I booked it. They are very used to my taking time off each year for my Disney cruise, never 3 weeks though!

Robin

I have been having to log in also. No trouble anywhere else that uses cookies. Must just be here.

We could not be definite about this cruise until October. That's when work schedules vacations. Done by seniority. Lee was able to post vacation when we booked. I was the hold up. :smooth:

It did'nt go so well. My boss is kind of a jerk anyway. But, like my hubby said, there are too many positions in this field available to take crap! I drive almost 2 hours each way! I have missed my grandpa's funeral before due to being told I could'nt take off, and I miss countless things with my daughter all of the time! My hubby said we ARE going! It's a once in a lifetime trip for us, and I'm not going to miss it! So, needless to say I was upset yesterday, but I will be there!!! :earboy2:

Kim

So sorry to hear that it didn't go well Kim! That's a shame, though I understand the jerky boss thing. My boss is a bit of a Dr. Jekell/Mr. Hyde person. You never know which one you're going to get on a given day. I'm personally going to wait until after my 2004 review has been given to me later this month. I figure, if it goes well, they won't mind my asking for the time off again so soon. Hey, that's what they get for giving us 4 weeks a year, right?

I did have to log back in yesterday, but no problems this morning. Sorry Robin & Bob! Hope it doesn't last.

I might also have issues with work, but I am going to be on this cruise in May. Why in this day and age don't employers try to make employees happy so they are more productive? Happy workers make better workers.

Shari, keep posting while Ken is out of town, probably freezing his you-know-what off up there in Sacramento. Do you have any other cruises booked besides this May Repo cruise? At this point, we have 2 more - one in November, and the next 10-day holiday cruise in 2006.[/QUOTE]

Hey Kara:

Ken was only out of town for the day - got back in last night without any problems. Little rain since yesterday morning although the hillsides are beginning to give way. La Conchita is only about 10 miles north and we had friends who lived there during the 1995 slide.

We booked a 4-day cruise for July 2005 for myself and a girlfriend while on the 10-day. We looked at the Christmas 2006 but it was a little steep so we didn't book it yet.

As for bosses, I'm fortunate in that I only work seasonal, part-time and May isn't a busy time for us. I just mentioned it matter of factly that I'd be gone and I think they're just really jealous. Ken gets so many vacation days but doing the 10-day and the 14-day in the same fiscal year probably has burned up all of his vacation and then some.

I have no issues :) I have a bazillion hours of leave at my 'real' job and at my p/t job I worked that out when I took a mgt. position last fall. Kind of like *let* me leave or *I* will leave.

Funny thing is they're like oh you've been here over 5 years so you can have 3 weeks (3 9-day periods) of UNPAID leave. *coughbitemecough* Since this is a "once in a lifetime" vacation they are making an exception. Me, I'm like, um, you don't pay my mortgage so I think that says it all! And hey, since all they do is pay my cruise, by the time I go on the cruise I'll be paid off!

Hey all,

I guess I'd better 'fess up and join the sugar high group. We just got back from a quick trip to Disneyland and we ate more junk in two days than I normally allow in a month! I'm sure the cruise will be much the same.

We stayed at the Disneyland hotel this trip. It's a great place to stay Robin!

It was a VERY wet couple of days. :umbrella:

The up side was that pretty much everything was a walk-on. The kids were so excited that they were able to stay on some of the rides and go again without getting off. I didn't burst their bubble by telling them they were the only ones dumb enough to want to ride in the downpour!

We're still trying to get all the work/school issues figured out as well.

Can we get another "Amen Bro-da!" It is so funny how a company can have these great vacation policies, but then there's never a "good" time to take the time off. I work with all these folks who have so much vaction time built up, they've stopped accruing. Not I! I am all for taking time off to recharge the old batteries. I just wish the bosses understood that and did the same. Maybe they'd be less hard on us... :space:

Anyhoo...Shari, great to know you and Ken are okay! :umbrella: That was so scary when we saw the landslide on the news last night - and the paper is saying there are still about 25 people unaccounted for. Not a good way to start the new year for some.

Hey, did anyone else get an automatic charge to their Disney Visa on 1/2 from Disney Vacation Promotions? I called Bank One to contest it, cause I didn't authorize it, but just curious if Disney had some sort of glitch. I am guessing it has to do with this cruise because the amount is the same as the initial deposit.

“Can we get another "Amen Bro-da!" I’ll preach it if you turn the pages sister. :)

Actually I just found out, very much to my surprise, that I can do my PT test on 6/22. So you will see me a bunch on deck 4 and hitting the iron in the gym. :cool1:

coughbitemecough! That is soooo funny! My thoughts exactly! Besides, it has opened my eyes to the fact that I think I will start looking for something closer to home anyway. I would most likely take a couple dollar pay cut, but I would make up for it with not having to put 100 miles a day on my car, and the gas alone would make up the difference! Besides, I miss so much with my daughter. I am sorry some of you are also having problems with work, but I agree with you. I put in 110% here and if you don't care enough about me then SEE YA! Oh well, all I know is I'll be there, jobless or not!

Kara.. did you book a cruise onboard? They would be charging you a deposit if you did.... just a thought. :wizard:

Yeah, we did, but that deposit showed up earlier (12/29) and was for less money. This amount I'm contesting is exactly the same amount as my original deposit for this Repo cruise, so it has me wondering what's going on. Even my travel agent is confused! :earseek:

Hey everyone, been swamped at work so I won't be around much... Requesting time off at my job is pretty much by luck. You have to be the first to sign up for it. Which isn't bad except the people that do our schedule can't follow the rules that THEY set up and put out the requests sheets on a timely manner. One way or another I will be on this cruise. I've already scouted around and it doesn't look like anyone else is taking a bunch of time off since school will pretty much just be ending right about then. But this qualifies as 8 PTO for me so I pretty much need to be the first or second on that list.
Work is pretty crazy right now. The holidays always bring out the sick and premature babies. Right now we have 3 kids in our unit that just break your heart (I mean all of them do, but these 3 are so sick and bad and so severe in the severity of their illness they break the hearts of the docs and seasoned nurses). We're supppose to be closed to admissions from referring hospitals since we don't deliver our own kids, but we're the only ones who can take these kids so we have them and barely enough room to move around in the rooms. It's nuts. Good thing is lots of overtime. If we're at high census I get an extra $10 an hour for each extra shift on top of the time and a half I already get. The trade off is I feel like the night of the living dead the next day off.....
Anyways, hang in there ya'll with your cruddy bosses.... their only management because they couldn't do your job

"their only management because they couldn't do your job " SO TRUE SO TRUE.....

Now they have changed our PT test to May 3, so I can be a slug on the cruise,.....not really.

Just thought I'd pass along my "good" news - you may take it as good or bad!

I booked our return flight from LAX to Wash/Dulles via US Air back in the summer for an amazing price of $67 pp. At the time things didn't seem so bad for US Air but now I'm concerned. Also of concern to me was the fact that I have no idea what my flight # or time is--literally. They've changed the flights so many times my itinerary had 8 or more flights in it.

I emailed US Air to ask for a refund (on my non-refundable tickets) because (a) I'm concerned they won't be here in June and (b) haven't a clue when I'm coming back since the flights change so much. They kindly obliged and are refunding my money.

Now I have to wait for JetBlue to have a sale for June (til May currently). Of course that throws my whole week up in the air cause I'm booked for 4 nights at the GC but was planning on staying a night in LA near the airport and doing BH/HW/etc. Now if we go out of LGB we might want to stay in Anaheim, but I don't wanna commute into LA to be a touron, yuck. I will have to work on that one. Maybe we'll do 2 days in LA, that would make the commute worth it :). Santa Monica is pretty and there are plenty of places to waste time around there! Hmm, wonder when Griffith reopens, will have to look that up!

And JetBlue lets you have 3 checked bags, OH BOY! All the extra room to come home!! :)

Peter,
You reallly need to see a doctor. That upper respiratory illness you have there could be contagious. What ever would you do if you were to spread it all over at work. The consequences could be disastrous. :charac2:
Boy am I looking forward to this cruise.

I shouldn't even be spending what I am spending on the Disneyland Hotel! I'm trying to put my DD through college! LOL

Growing up, my grandparents every July gave the whole family a week at the Disneyland Hotel. I can remember this way back when just about all there was of the hotel was the garden rooms. I don't even think they are there now. There was a small high rise of sorts, but what I am seeing now is nothing like it was back then. (we are talking early 60's) So for old times sake, I am excited to stay there again. :wizard:

Robin

Robin-you won't even recognize the Disneyland Hotel! It has changed so much. You will love it though! It still has a few things that will remind you of the old days. We are trying to decide what to do when we get in on the cruise since we will have been at DL on the weekend of May 6-8 since our DD is performing there. Then back for 4 days of work and then off to the PC!!!

Peter-my DH said, "Well I am done with my current job" (week before we left on the 10 day Christmas Cruise), he put his name on the union hall list, and then said, "Well, guess I won't be going back to work til June 1!" NOT!

I need to pay for this cruise you know!

Nothing but rain and snow here in Utah. We are having problems with slides and avalanches!!!
