Linda, thanks for the info. I am so excited! The last time I was at Disneyland was when my DD was 5...13 years ago! There was no California Adventure, no downtown Disney! This will be a trip down memory lane plus lot's of extras! I can't wait to ride the Matterhorn again!

Robin

WOW! It seems there may be a lot of "unemployed" cruisers :cool1: Oh well! Every since I said somethiong to my boss, he has been a complete jerk to me! So, I have decided that if I talk to them again, and they still say no, then I will wait until two weeks until the cruise and give my two week notice! I can always work for a temp agency until I find something permanent and closer to home! That sounds kinda mean, I know, but I am so tired of sacrificing so much and still always being treated like a peaon (SP?) Like my hubby saud, it's time to start looking out for #1. If you don't, then who will? Besides, the DR. is not getting any younger. What if he decides to retire soon? I would still be screwed, and saying "Gee, I sure wish I would have gone on that cruise now!" Right? HAve a good day everyone!

Kim

I guess my work problems are'nt so bad considering it took me over two hours to get to work this morning. A south bound car veered over into the northbound lane and hit a car head on! The car caught on fire and instantly killed three people. Two were thrown from the car where another car ran them over and killed them and the car ran. The had the bodies all covered up when I drove by. Gives you chills all over!

Anyone else have problems getting on the boards yesterday afternoon?

Well aren't we just a bunch of pirate: rebels? Love it! "coughbitemecough!" So true. Kim, I wish you luck! Not only with your job but with your commute too! Seems like the longer your commute is, the more of those types of accidents you see. Peter and Kim - you both drive safely for the next four months! We need you in one piece for the cruise.

Bill, you're too funny! There may be a lot of us with some type of "illness," though it may just be we're all allergic to work.

Scott, good news that your PT test is before the cruise. Not that you won't work out at all, but that sure takes the pressure off!

DH has x-rays on his knee today. It's been getting progressively more sore, poping, and really bothering him. Dr. thinks he has severe tendonitis (sp?), coupled with a possible partial tear in one of his ligaments. Geez! I told him he must do everything the Dr. tells him so he's healthy for the cruise.

JenKatt: It must be a busy baby time everywhere in Florida. I work labor and delivery about half my time, we have been extremely busy as of late. In our first 6 hours Monday we had 3 c-sections and placed 6 labor epidurals. What happenned 9 months ago?

I am lucky with my employer, I scheduled my three week vacation last June with only a little begging and grovelling. Not looking forward to this weekend, temperatures here are going to plummet, all the way down to mid-60s. I'll have to get the fireplace going.

Good Morning everyone! :wizard: Reading about all of you trying to get the time off for the cruise.... we are very lucky that the cruises we wanted to go on have come at times when DH is on semester break. Otherwise we'd be sitting at home! As for me... I can't get a job because we keep cruising and I don't think anyone is going to hire me when the first thing I tell them is that I want 3 weeks off for a cruise!!! Last year it was 2 weeks at Christmas for a cruise... the year before that we cruised twice and the year before that....well it goes on....LOL Ever since I was laid off after 9/11....we've been cruisin fools since we didn't have to worry about my work schedule. It's a vicious circle... we could afford to cruise more if I worked full time... but then I couldn't get the time off.... LOL  Anyway... good luck to all!

Kara... give our best to Eric... hope all goes well with his x-rays! He has to be in tip top shape for those excursions!! We may have to hike and kayak again!! :boat: Let him know he'll be in our thoughts today!

Hi from muddy Southern California

I guess I'm very lucky when it comes to getting time off. This has been a busy fiscal year for me with six days off for the Arthritis Ride last October, then two weeks off for the Xmas cruise and another 2 weeks off for the May Repo. I had to save up a number of days from last year, but I didn't have any problems with the boss OKing the time off.

I hope it all works out for everyone.

Kara - I hope Eric's knee is OK. My son had knee work done to remove some cartilage. He recovered quickly from that. So hopefully it won't be a major problem.

Ken

HAHA, Yesterday I braved the vacation request calendar at work and put in my plead for two weeks in May. Can't believe it within 30 minutes the boss clicked on the "approved" button. Gotta love when your boss in 6000miles away in London

Started calling all of my son's high school teachers to get their feedback. We have been concerned with the review for finals. Most all are OK with the time off from school except for the wicked English teacher who groaned more than my son does about his homework. If he keeps his grades at the A level for three more marking periods he will be exempt from all but two finals.

I'm really started to get wound up, thinking of what to pack, getting passports for the kids..

Thanks Leslie & Ken, Eric will appreciate the extra support. Leslie, I told him the same thing, btw. We must be able to SCUBA, kayak, hike, or ride the waverunners!

Glad some of you are not having troubles with the vacation requests. For me, it's hopefully percieved trouble that will amount to nothing...though I just found out yesterday that my boss will be in Hawaii for part of our trip.

Just read in the news that the lotto jackpot in CA is up to $81 million for tonight's drawing. Works out to about $40 lump sum before taxes. I'm going in!

Ken-glad you are okay down there! The kids live in St. George (you know, the ones we took on that 10 day cruise?). The river swelled yesterday and they lost 11 or 12 homes into the river! All the kids are okay though, just sick of the rain. We have lucked out here in Salt Lake. The storms are hitting the mountains hard and pounding southern and northern Utah, but Salt Lake seems to be okay.

Kara-tell Eric good luck on the outcome with the knee!!

How about paying all our cruise balances when you win!!!

BTW-no problem with me for time off. I rolled over 4 weeks and 3 days vacation time. So I HAVE TO USE4 weeks and 3 days this year, or I lose them.

Darn, guess I still need to find another two week cruise to go on. However, I don't think I want to join the Ship of Fools in August heading back to WDW!

Linda

No problems here in requesting time off...After I got off the phone from booking the trip I turned around to my boss and said I'm going to be gone from May 13 - May 28. He said OK. What he doesn't know is that hopefully when I come back I can turn in my two weeks notice and get the heck out of dodge :cool1:

Now my DH changed jobs in August of last year and I told him to be sure he told his boss when he was hired that he needed those specific days off. The bad part is he won't get paid while we are gone but after he reached his one year mark they will pay out his vacation money to him. So we should be OK.

I looked on the DCL homepage and noticed that they are taking reservations for both repo's again. Still GTY status but people must be cancelling.

And what is wrong with the Fools cruise? I think we need to put a disclaimer somewhere on the Fools thread that states that what is on there is not representative of everyone who is going...... like TV stations do before they air an editorial. I know you probably won't believe it, but there are actually some very laid back people on the August repo.

Good news and bad news...

Good news first: DCL has finalized the excursions!

Bas news: No SCUBA at Castaway Cay. But we now know why...hurricane damage.

I have a list of the excursions, but it's just in email format, so if you want it, PM me and I can email it to you. Don't panic if you don't get it right away, I will likely wait until I have a bunch of email addresses before I send it out.

Will do Linda, thanks!

X-rays are done, but won't know the results until probably next week, plus he has an appt with an Orthopedist next week. We'll see what happens! We're keeping a positive attitude.

As I sit here reading the responses from peoples vacation request posts
All I Can Do is laugh.. LOL and happy for all of the people that have time and no problems getting time .. The Doctor Jenn works for has Been on 2 Disney cruise Concierge of course. and when Jenn asked for the time it was like sure no problem... What a great trip... they dont call her the Disney
girl at her office for nothing .. she has saved the people she sees thousands of dollars.. with the stuff u just learn about Disney .. and the tips she has given them.. LOL

Here is the last thing she told a Guy.. He said he was stayying at 2 different resorts for his trip and was not looking forward to getting luggage from resort to the other.. She said just ask bell services to take it over for you , He was like they will do that she said Yup.. Made his trip, Came back and Told Her it worked. Sometimes it is just the little thing that can make a trip.
And most REGULAR people just dont know.. LOL

KIM Hope u had a safe drive today, I drove up the highway 2 exits to far before I Remembered where I Was on the Way Home tonight..

Linda,
Being a little presumptuous here! What makes you think you would qualify as a Fool? We have very strict acceptance criteria. We don't let just anyone in!(well, except for Mark!)....Forget what I just said- if he can get in, anyone can!!! :jester:
