Christine, unless I missed it, no one said who Christy Carlson Romano is.
If memory serves me right(iron chef), she is the singer who sings the theme song for "Kim Possible" the cartoon. Big hit, particularly with the kids. I believe that when she was on the cruise, 10 day Christmas, she did a show and also went up to the girls sing along. Apparently the girls were floored!!!!

Yes, from Kim Possible. She did her "first" live singing concert, or whatever you would call it supposedly. She went to the "girl's pajama party" for the girls 9-12 and sat on the floor with them and stayed for quite awhile in a Q & A session. She they did an audience Q & A and then signed autographs the next morning in the Walt Disney Theater. She was suppose to host "Who Wants to Be A Mousekeeter", but she got sick and didn't do it. They (she, her friends and family) spent alot of time in the Private Dining Room in Palo's at night very late into the evenings, from what I heard.

When I talked with Alan this morning at DCL, he said my documents hadn't even been printed yet. Guess I should quit booking the minute the cruise opens up!

He said all documents should be received no later than two weeks before the cruise. I predict I will be one of the last doing the document dance based on past history......about May 2nd is my guess!

LOL...last weekend at home before we go to FL. I had a mild panic attack about that this morning. Next weekend visiting family, then the next weekend off to WDW and then the cruise starts the weekend after that!!! I feel like I still have so much to do!!!! YIKES

FYI, I was at Magic Kingdom today and got to see the new Cindrellabration show on the castle forecourt stage. AWESOME! I was really impressed, especially with the new gowns each of the princesses are wearing! WOW! They have new gowns in Tinkerbell's treasures for little girls too. They're pricey, but really gorgeous.

Attire, = There will be two (2) formal and two (2) semi formal evenings. There will be one (1) pirate(1)tropical nights. I guess that leaves nine (9) "cruise casual" nights were jeans are allowed in the dining rooms (don't even get me started!)

Food = There are plans to introduce new lunch and dinner menus so that no menu will be repeated during the course of the sailing.

Entertainment = A new production show to be offered. Called " Twice Charmed ". Cinderella themed Stage Show.

Donald Ducky Williams, will be onboard and we will recieve 2 Lithographs
1 for going on the cruise and one for going thru the canal.
This has been said on other cruises by DDW .

Canal Party = All seas travel, is hosting a party in the Roy Suite the day of the Canal crossing . for its customers. You can do better than that..

Southern California:
A Canadian’s First Impression

Well, Tracy asked if I could whip up a quick review of my impressions of Southern California for inclusion within the newsletter so here goes nothing!

Doris, Meagan and I visited California last year (2004) for the first time. Well actually Doris had been before eons ago, but this was our first trip as a family. We flew into Vegas and stayed there for a while, moving on to the Grand Canyon and eventually driving from there over to Los Angeles. I did all of my planning pretty well on the internet insofar as our hotels, excursions and the like. Driving across the desert into California was a new experience. We came across Hwy 40 through Needles over to Barstow. I have heard of Barstow and expected a big city, NOT!! As we hit Hwy 15 we headed south into the L.A. area. Wow!!! You go from desert, to rolling hills that are green, to mega highways in a relatively short period of time. I think half the Marine Corp must be in that area!

Now I drive continuously (No not just driving people nuts) and was still apprehensive about the horror stories I had heard about L.A. traffic etc.. It was a Friday afternoon so figured it would be busy with everyone going places for the weekend, but I was going into town. It was busy but no worse than a rush hour across the 401 in Toronto. We had our route mapped out and the driving wasn’t too bad at all.

Our first stop in the L.A. area was to stay just outside of Disneyland. For those of you that are WDW aficionados you know how well signposted it is to get there. You may go around in circles once you get there but you can find it, but don’t expect this with Disneyland!! There were NO signs. I was, and am still surprised at how little signposting there was. We made a couple of wrong turns but made it no problem. A heads up to any Canadian renting a car down there too. IF the gas station requires you to punch in your zip code at the pumps when you insert your credit card to pay for gas forget it. This is for Americans only, and is hooked up to your billing address. There was rumours that punching in 999999 would work. It doesn’t. You have to go in, give the attendant your credit card (which I didn’t like) go out and pump your gas, then return in and he runs the card/purchase through. So for 5 minutes he has your card, and God knows what can be run through on it.

Disneyland seemed like it was in the middle of a semi/commercial area and suddenly it was there. It is NOTHING like WDW as you drive by. If you blink you may miss it. Hopefully for the 50th Anniversary they have done something special. The hotels in the area are mostly older. No swank, new places that’s for sure, unless you stay at the Grand Californian or the like. We did a couple of nights just outside of DLR and got a one day hopper to do both Disneyland and DCA.. It wasn’t particularly busy but we had a wonderful time. We met up with Sarah and Kennett (Malificent59 on the Dis who will be on our cruise) and as avid DLR goers they showed us the ropes and we had a great time. We got the parades, the rides as well as a meal in while there. To me a couple of days would be sufficient for DLR but then again just my opinion. Found the Disney Discount store about 10 minutes away and bought a bunch of stuff there.

We moved on and stayed in Beverly Hills for a night afterwards so we could see “Hollywood”. Getting around was relatively easy as I had city maps, plus had printed up maps from my Microsoft Map programme showing routes etc. We went to Mann’s Chinese Theatre, looked at the Kodak Theatre beside it and spent a few hours on Rodeo Drive browsing. Really neat after reading so much about these places. We utilized on street parking for Rodeo Drive (residential areas are very close) and no problems. We parked at the hotel attached to the Kodak Theatre/Hotel and it was a bit pricy, but extremely convenient. We went and saw a film showing at Mann’s. That is the only way you can get in there. Wow what a place inside. You can imagine the old days with everyone receiving their Oscars there. The driving once again was NOT too bad, and we took a spin on the throughway and went by San Pedro just to get an idea for this upcoming cruise. We went down by the beaches north of L.A. and up towards Malibu etc. going all the way to San Francisco.

Anyway I’m sure I’ve bored half of you that have gotten this far so won’t go into the San Francisco, Yosemite, Death Valley portion but the temperatures (August) were not much different, once you were by the ocean, than ours and I found the people great to chat with. We’re looking forward to seeing a bit more this time, and hopefully the weather will be great again. Cheers!

to confirm the required points for staying at Disney land hotel has been reduced ..the cast member who has rung us says that as the hotel is full they feel that they can reduce the points price...they cannot offer upgardes as all rooms are taken....i believe there is more info on the dvc forum board...

I called Member Services and spoke to Michelle. The only hotel being reduced is the Disneyland Hotel. She said it was to celebrate tht 50th Anniversary. I think there are other motives at play.

Paradise Pier and Grand Californian are not changed. There was no availability to change from GCH to DLH, so we stay where we are. Which is okay. I love GCH.

Bill -- They are next to the square dancing apples and around the corner from the yoga practicing romaine lettuce.

On my screen, the banana is on the 4th row of "smiles." Sometimes they don't dance. Sometimes they are standing still, looking like they want to dance, but no music is playing

Ugh, am I having a cruddy day! Started work at my normal office, then headed over to another office to do some audit work. No parking to be found, so I parked in the 2 hour spot. My boss made me wait to begin the audit, because he wanted to do the work too, so I did other things... Time ticked by, and I forgot to move my car, so now I have a parking ticket!

I had to cancel my appointment to pick up my new glasses because the bosses delays of my audit mean I now have to work later.

AND another problem unexpectedly blew up today that I suspect will be blamed on me, even though others also should have noticed it and gotten it fixed.

Can we go now?

Bill -- They are next to the square dancing apples and around the corner from the yoga practicing romaine lettuce.

On my screen, the banana is on the 4th row of "smiles." Sometimes they don't dance. Sometimes they are standing still, looking like they want to dance, but no music is playing
