Actually ice wine can be found around the world. We managed to get a red ice wine in Germany last year....

I did not realize that Ice Wine is produced in other parts of the world. They always seem to make a big deal out of the weather here in the Niagara Penninsula and whether or not there is going to be cold enough to produce a nice ice wine. I had heard that other places artifically freeze the grapes to produce the ice wine but here they leave the grapes on the vine to freeze and then pick them and press them when they are still frozen. I "googled" ice wine and found out that both Germany & Austria also produce an ice wine but the majority of the ice wines on the market come from Canada - something to do with the sweetness of our grapes. Also too, it was interesting to read that people in Asia are willing to pay upwards of $300 for a 375 ml bottle of ice wine that we can purchase here for $50...and I thought $50 was a little expensive (that's why I wanted to ensure that I could take it on the plane - didn't want to have to leave it at Customs at the airport and allow them to enjoy it).

We were on the Disney Wonder for the Pin Cruise last November when one of the large porthole windows on deck 2 was smashed in one night, flooding one cabin and causing water damage to adjacent ones. Seas had been rough but not overly so, ships stabilizers did a magnificant job.

When docked in Castaway Cay the deck force was putting a wooden patch in place. After they painted it black you'd hardly notice. (I'd post a picture but not sure how).

Finished our bags for the sailaway gifts tonight. :cool1: :cool1:

Have today off for Patriots Day (aka Keep the traffic out of Boston for the Boston Marathon Day :rotfl2: ). If weather is as nice as last two days will finish getting fish pond cleaned, and then box ready to send to ship.

Maybe travel agent at AAA will call with docs. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Just wanted to wish everyone a good morning.....
My son just came running in my room to tell me he made his bed, got dressed, and pulled one more link off of the Disney chain. (a paper chain to count down)

24 days until I am at Disney!!!

(My husband almost had a heart attack with that news- "Celeste I may have to stay late at work over the next few weeks...)

Feels like it will be warm here today.....

If anyone else feels they should get their immunizations- and cost is a factor- PLEASE see your local health department- they will have them for a very reasonable cost!

We went to the local travel specialist and got vaccinations on Friday. He suggested we all update tetanus and get the Hep A shot. Hep A is a two shot series if you want lifetime immunity. You just have to get the two shots within 18 months of eachother. One shot will give you immunity for about 18 months, so you would really only need that for this trip. We will probably get the follow up shot just to avoid needing it again. Malaria meds are not recommended in Mexico unless you are going into more rural areas, and not in the canal zone for Panama. Lucky thing- those are apparently no fun to take. My Dr. strongly recommended Hep A, not just because of the places we are going, but because cruise lines tend to be staffed almost exclusively by international workers that may come from Hep A prone areas. His point was that the people preparing all of your food and beveragas could pass it on to you on the ship as well. He also gave us a three shot prescription of cipro, just in case any of us were struck with the travelers diarrhea.

I agree it may be a little overkill, but I wouldn't let my kids miss a scheduled childhood vaccination in the U.S., so I wouldn't want to risk taking them to a foreign country without getting the vaccinations for common illness there. Of course, now I just have to hope insurance will reimburse the $450 worth of shots for our family of 4!

Oh...you work nights!!!
I have done everything in my power to stay off nights. I have worked nights a few times---MAN does it get cold at 3am, with the lack of sleep...
The longest shift I ever worked was 20- after I walked down the hallway and went to bed in an empty patient room and slept for a while before driving home.

I bet the NICU is busier at nights---all those babies with day/night confusion!

Hope you slept well (writing this with the hopes you won't be reading it until you have slept post shift) :wave2:

Hi eveyone....
I'm calling on the knowledge of the former cruisers who have tried this...

I know there is snorkeling at Castaway....
On this post I saw you could get the vest for free at the family beach.

Does that mean if you have your own gear - you can snorkel in their area by the family beach for free?

I have always wondered that and have never wanted to pack it---in case I couldn't use it.

Our son is finally old enough---we are planning on going in Cabo.
Although he can't swim- he likes the idea of looking under water and has gear.

Maybe I could finally see the Mickey of the deep---while my husband watches Noah.

:teeth:

I used to do a paper chain for Christmas, but got a neat Mickey count down calendar, the computer count down clocks work for Disney trips and other vacations. Now the only paper chain I have is for retirement. One link per month, after this trip I will be under the two year mark.

Peter make it 708…..you guys are lucky I don’t want to do the hammock or shirt race…..

Talked to Bob about MP3 thingies and am thinking about getting one, might be nice for running and walking, limited knowledge here on my part. Open for input.

Ahhh the joys of shift work, such is the life of service work. Several of us here understand for sure.

Upon reading your post I realized that my computer count down clock is GONE!

I think my spywear program ate it.

You don't have to pay to snorkel at CC anywhere and the life vests are free to use. Sadly, Mickey got misplaced by the last big storm and I haven't heard that they re-set him... Boy, I'm all full of happy news...I've heard about the ice wine from up North and can hardly wait for a sip! I'm bringing some llano white as well as a red and a white from Australia...couldn't make up my mind...

Hope everyone had a great weekend :sunny: My SIL wedding is over and all of my company is gone...this deserves a    I got a package from DCL the other day and I was so excited because I thought it was the docs...I opened it up and found a DVD about the cruise line... :worried: What a tease that was! Well my first patient is here so I better go. Not that my Dr. is ever here ontime :sad2: Amazing, he lives 2 minutes away and is ALWAYS late, but I live 2 hours away and I manage to get here early!

Kimberly

Celeste, all shore snorkeling on CC is free,( I think there is a snorkeling excursion availale) and yes they will provide a swim vest, they even want you to use theirs should you bring your own vest. You can use your own snorkeling gear, saves time getting in line and is usually better, not always, than the worn rental stuff.

All ya have to do is ask for a swim vest, and they will give ya one.

I feel CC snorkeling at the family beach could be better, more fish life, if there were more water flow through the area. There are not enough nutrients flowing through, open up a hole in the breakwater on the other side and let the water flow. This is why visibility decreases with use during the day. Just my thoughts. This is why I feel it is worth the swim from Serenity Bay to the wreck a ways out.

Also, and sadly people tend to feed what critters one sees in the family area. I really think this is a bad thing and should be discouraged.

Peter, we can give Bob a handicap. ( I guess like in golf, not a golf person)
