Cafe du Monde--mmm Sugar and fried dough and chickory coffee.
Pat O'Brien's--Huricanes
House of Blues & Margaritaville---mmmmmmm
No Patout's--good place

Was the Haunted History tour the one that went past Ann Rice's house? All the tours go to the cemetaries right?
Haunted History Tour started at Reverend Zombie's Voodoo Shop, right across from Preservation Hall, and walked 2 hours around French Quarter talking about ghost sightings and scandoulous/scary stories re: various hotels/buildings/homes.

I think Anne Rice's house is in Garden District, but am not sure. And didn't go to cemetary, but there are haunted tours that go there. Also vampire tours too, but missed those as well...

Missed Patout's... Tried to get into NOLA's but it was Packed :grouphug: Couldn't believe the amount of fake L.Vuitton's in the French Market - good looking ones too! Wished I had bought one ... $25 each.

Did get a muffaletta from Central Grocery - YUM! :teeth:

Did you get a confirmation??? I booked today and have not received a confirmation. I'm guessing because it was Sunday. Hopefully, I'll have something from them tomorrow. And, maybe my DOCS, too! ha ha ha :rotfl:

Bob --

I put that list together at 6:30 a.m. with only minimal amount of coffee flowing through me (kind of like right now!). You are lucky I came up with the list that I did. Later I thought of some other tunes including "Key Largo" and the Beach Boys "Kokomo."

I love Toby Keith. I'll be happy to listen to anything he puts out. However, the lyrics for "What Happens in Mexico Stays in Mexico" didn't seen quite appropriate for a "family friendly" Disney Cruise. If you are considering "Send Lawyers, Guns and Money" do we need to add Cher's "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves?" Wait, back to the family friendly lyric issue again. If that isn't a concern, I can probably come up with some others.

As for Buster's "Hot, Hot, Hot" I'd rather dance to that then the tired "Celebration" by K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Gloria Estefan has some good options for sail away dancing tunes -- "Conga," "Get on Your Feet," "Turn the Beat Around."

Good morning DisBoards.

Randall

Thanx for all the suggestions. Don't think I'll do any more burning for this cruise. What I intended on doing was adding songs that I had heard on the ship and what new ones might be added.(true gloria estefan is played onboard) That was the original song list. All those mentioned afterwards was mentioned in jest. ("lawyer, guns & money" "fruitcakes", ect). Also, for me to put them on a cd, they had to be songs I already had. I did not want to buy anything from walmart.com. That is why "Yo Ho Ho Ho, the Pirate's Life for Me" is not on there. I didn't want to buy another cd just for that song.

Another song...(in jest)"The Weather is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful. (one I do have :) )

We went to the local travel specialist and got vaccinations on Friday. He suggested we all update tetanus and get the Hep A shot. Hep A is a two shot series if you want lifetime immunity. You just have to get the two shots within 18 months of eachother. One shot will give you immunity for about 18 months, so you would really only need that for this trip. We will probably get the follow up shot just to avoid needing it again. Malaria meds are not recommended in Mexico unless you are going into more rural areas, and not in the canal zone for Panama. Lucky thing- those are apparently no fun to take. My Dr. strongly recommended Hep A, not just because of the places we are going, but because cruise lines tend to be staffed almost exclusively by international workers that may come from Hep A prone areas. His point was that the people preparing all of your food and beveragas could pass it on to you on the ship as well. He also gave us a three shot prescription of cipro, just in case any of us were struck with the travelers diarrhea.

I agree it may be a little overkill, but I wouldn't let my kids miss a scheduled childhood vaccination in the U.S., so I wouldn't want to risk taking them to a foreign country without getting the vaccinations for common illness there. Of course, now I just have to hope insurance will reimburse the $450 worth of shots for our family of 4!

I was just wondering if we will have an idea when all the "scheduled" activities will be taking place on board before we leave. I'd like to book a personal trainer and a body composition analysis at the Fitness Centre and would sure hate to miss any of our "scheduled" activities.

WINE TASTING

Now that we have our flight information, I called our air carrier to make sure that I could bring a bottle of wine in my carryon and was told that I could so I just wanted everyone to know that you will be able to taste an incredible Ice Wine from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. I had something else purchased but thought why not bring an Ice Wine since I believe Niagara is the only place that makes Ice Wine. So back to the liquor store I went and I purchased a nice (and a tad expensive) bottle of Ice Wine (it may even be the same one they serve on DCL). I sure hope you guys will like it.

Sounds like a different tour than we did. Yes Anne Rice's house is in the Garden District.
Everytime we've went to N.O. we've tried to go to Patout's. Believe it or not there was a Patout's here. Liz opened the restaurant with her husband, a local guy. However, when Liz was sticken with cancer, the restaurant closed.
I believe that her sister Gigi is now the chef at the Patout's on bourbon st.

Muffaletta. Yes, but don't remember where. It was on the tour somewhere. After the beignets and the pralines and gumbo and ..... well you get the idea, everything seems to run together.

And Finally(if I keep this up, I'll catch up with Scott's posts :) )
Glad that spring is finally here to stay. Picked my first miny today. Put it to good use. MOJITO. Well, a lower calorie version made with splenda. Not as good as the real ones at the Blue Heaven in Key West. Good enough for now.

I went shopping today for cruise clothes. I almost bought a new dress because it matched my light up flippy floppies. I didn't really like the dress but it was black and pink like the sandals. I need an intervention!!!

Actually ice wine can be found around the world. We managed to get a red ice wine in Germany last year....

I think there is definitely going to be some withdrawal from our computers come May 12th - 13th time period. But we are giving it up for something great - I get up all during the night and check my messges, etc.

On a good note, maybe I'll get used to sleeping during the night while at sea, 'ya think? Aw - the good life we live

Wow, you got it bad.... :goodvibes I'm right there with ya---I have insomnia too---best thing I ever found was the old defrag program on Windows 98. I loved to watch those little blue boxes go and go and go til I finally got sleepy..... :teeth:

I always sleep better at sea level.... :cloud9: I tell people its all that oxygen pressing in on me.....makes me sleeeeeepy! But I'm sure its more than likely that I wore myself out just being on vacation!

We were on the Disney Wonder for the Pin Cruise last November when one of the large porthole windows on deck 2 was smashed in one night, flooding one cabin and causing water damage to adjacent ones. Seas had been rough but not overly so, ships stabilizers did a magnificant job.

When docked in Castaway Cay the deck force was putting a wooden patch in place. After they painted it black you'd hardly notice. (I'd post a picture but not sure how).

Finished our bags for the sailaway gifts tonight. :cool1: :cool1:

Have today off for Patriots Day (aka Keep the traffic out of Boston for the Boston Marathon Day :rotfl2: ). If weather is as nice as last two days will finish getting fish pond cleaned, and then box ready to send to ship.

Maybe travel agent at AAA will call with docs. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Bob: We were at DTD when Dana came back and she told us about it. And we heard the compensation Disney gave was almost nothing. Don't want to post the amount she said, but I wouldn't have accepted it. There could have been major damages and thank goodness there wasn't.

I was also on this cruise and although I wasn't bothered by the rough seas, I have to disagree with your assessment of just how rough it was. While the waves were no where near 70' high, the seas were running 18 - 22' the first night out. As the ship passed thru the troughs, the waves were breaking over the Deck 6 portholes and spray was making all the way up to Deck 10....I know because I was outside video taping it. The Wonder was a ghost-ship by midnight and not many people showed up for breakfast the following morning either. :rotfl:

It's 12:34 a.m. - gonna try to go back to bed now. probably be up again at 4 a.m. - wish my mind didn't work when I lay down vertically.
