Yes, it's me again... just need to share this... when I walked into our closet this morning, the floor felt cold. I thought this was strange, because it's usually warm (with a heat vent). Then the sinking feeling set in... Oh no, is there ice in our rain gutter and with the melting snow are we getting water backing up under the roof???

A quick run down to the kitchen, and a glance at our wet ceiling told me sad ending to the story... :faint:

I'm now at work, getting things settled, but must rush back home to clear the way for the ceiling work and closet work... call the insurance agent (sigh). I hope it won't cost an arm and a leg, 'cause we're cruisin' in May!

Thanks for letting me share! :sad2: Wish us luck!

WOW Sorry To Hear that It Has had me worried Also we got 30 inches of snow the other day and then it warmed just a bit and Gutters are over Full
with ice in the Back Had Same Worries as You are Describing ..
Hope All Goes Well.... Peter
Was almost Going to attach the hose to the hot water tank and get out the ladder to Get Rid of Problem.. Peter

But it seems to have gone down now and we are getting 7 to 10 inches of snow NOW.... So No work For me did not want to do the 130 mile ride in the snow..

I did it! I went and booked the REAS add on!  Now I must plan a Palo night, a massage time, as well as High Tea and Palo Brunch...

Now, my dilema... Doen ANYONE know where I can get a list of evening events for our cruise. I sure don't want to book Palo on the Pirate Night, or the Captain night! Yikes! I don't want to miss out on anything!!!

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I need to get my times back to Dreams so they can book the times. HELP!
Ugh! So sorry about your roof!! Hope all goes well and it's too expensive!

Unfortunately, knowing what nights will be themed, formal, semi-formal, etc. is like pulling teeth with DCL. They don't decide these things until about 30 days before sailing (if the first 10-day was any indication), so you just kind of have to guess. Of course, as we get rumors out of DCL, people will always post those.

Brunches and high-tea are always set for days at sea. And the themed party nights seem to always be days when we've been in port, if I remember correctly. Hint: don't do brunch or hightea on the same day or the next morning after a night at Palo - you may cursplode! :crowded:

Hope this helps a little. Trust me, you will have a good time no matter when you have your massages, dinner at Palo, and all that.

"cursplode" ??? or did you mean cruiseplode ;)

Thanks for everyone's well wishes for our roof! :flower:

We're off now to get storage containers to help with a quick relocation of kitchen and closet stuff to get ready for the ceiling work!!!

At least the weather forecast said... The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow :sunny:

Wow... 30 inches of snow... we only had 15! I'm so glad we didn't have any more than that!

Thanks also for the tips for the REAS! :lovestruc

Will check in later...
Georgie

OK I replied to all my PMs to date for the Fantasmic seating...

Now I just have to wait until 30 days out to book. Lynda, I will find out about accessibility...

Wow, skip a few days and miss a lot here!

Another huge THANK YOU to DU for sponsoring the wine tasting.

We're not big wine drinkers - but DH and I would love to stop in and say hello. We could bring along some Rattlesnake Red.
;)
Actually, I think there are a few local places trying to get away from the touristy, cowboy wines. I'll have to check it out.

I feel a bit out of my element with all you planners on this thread, but you've convinced me to take a look at the excursions. Sounds like it would be a good idea to get our top choices in early.

First I have to get a place to stay booked for this weekend. See, I'm really not one to plan in advance. I had not been to DL for months - now this weekend will be the second time this month.

:rotfl2: So true! And for 14 days of eating like we'll be eating, I'm thinking that I may need to bring two or three sizes of clothes!

We would like to join wine tasting as well. The two of us plus six others would be 8. We are Tom, Diana, Liz, Camilo, Lenny, Sheila, Vicky and Dick.

Sounds like alot of fun.

:earsgirl:

Yo, AZ, if it's not too much trouble could you take a look at where the Tropicana is (highwaywise) in relation to DL? I'm think I'm going to have to scooter over there from the DL Hotel Grand Californian towing my baggage cart behind and, although they say that it's next door they don't say in what context: crow flies, forced march? I located an aerial view and it looks like there's a huge honking freeway that separates the two.... I'll have to save my pennies for a cab...Will a cab go such a small distance?.....
I'll understand if you can't get around to it...Whether DL or WDW, the most important thing is PLAYTIME.....
:wizard:

Thanks to DU!!! That is totally awesome. We had lots of non-wine drinkers at our 10 day wine tasting party. It was such great fun. Took lots of pictures and had great conversations. It also gave us a chance to meet up with some of our other dis friends who we didn't get a chance to hook up with at the pre-sail away party.

Okay, next post, attempt at pirate picture!

Linda

Okay, here goes:

dcl169.jpg

Pirate Night was my very favorite night of the whole cruise. We all had gotten pirate names beforehand here on the internet. Okay, I'll find some of the sites and post them here so everyone can get a pirate name. As you can see under my signature my pirate name is Grainne O'Malley Goldheart. Robert (DH) is Kidd the Cutthroat.

Oh--here are a couple of sites to go get your pirate name gangstaname.com and www.fidius.org/quiz/pirate.php You can also do a google search "pirate names" and get about 560,000 sites to go to.

I started out by just making pants and skirts, and then it just grew from there. Our whole family ended up getting dressed up. DCL had pirate bandanas when you sat down to dinner that evening. I had made tent cards with everyone's pirate name at their place at the table and our servers were only allowed to call us by our pirate names that night. They had a great time.

I had talked to guest services that morning first thing and told them I had to have a family picture with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. They talked to whomever handles those things. First the CM said, well, they will be out at 6 p.m. in two different places. I said, well you don't understand. There are 13 of us and we all have pirate costumes and we want a family picture with them and we eat dinner at 6 p.m. Within an hour the CM had left a message in my stateroom with the instructions to meet Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and the ships photographer with my family at 10 minutes to 6 for our professional picture. They were awesome about it! Thanks to the CM and DCL!

All the items on the dinner menu had a pirate flair to them. (including Jack Sparrow). All of the servers were dressed up. Captain Hook visited the dining room while we were there. Then the servers did a little entertainment "surprise" and then grabbed some of the kids and adults dressed up like pirates to join them.

We then headed to our after dinner stuff (whatever that was) and then headed to the pirate deck party at the appointed time (9:45 or so?). DCL did a show out there and then an awesome fireworks show. Food, pictures, dancing. It was very well attended. AND if you were dressed up like a pirate you might just get pulled into the show up on the deck.

Okay, so everyone go get your pirate name, start sharing, and have a great day. Aarrgh Matey!!!!

Oh, and here is DH (Kidd the Cutthroat)

Oh, one more thing (Sorry, you shouldn't have gotten me started on Pirate Night)

There is another great site where you can get stuff:

deadmentellnotales.com

I bought some stuff for them for our stateroom door and stuff.

We saw alot of stateroom doors that day that had changed from Christmas to Pirate and then back to Christmas the next day.

pirate: Well my name is Captain Bess Rackham and I am married to Dread Pirate Kidd Arr!!! pirate:

It looks like Me, DH and DM will be doing the See & Sea Tour on Curaco, the Shot Over Boat in Accapulco and Horseback riding in Cabo. Not sure about Mazatlan...nothing really grabbed me...might just walk around

As for the wine tasting DH and I are not wine drinkers but I can bring a bottle from Willamette Valley Vineyards here in Oregon for you guys to try and say hi so go ahead and put Rebecca and Craig on the list.

And thank to Dreams for sponsoring :cheer2:

Speaking of great sites to get stuff...Could somebody hazard a guess as to the name of the clear plastic pocket protector-type doodads that you put i.d. cards in are called? I'd like to find some for a project my neice has come up with for her geriatric group....She was talking about her busy bee crafters and I had this brainy idea...Now I can't for the life of me find a supplier and I think it's because I don't know what they're called for the purposes of a search....
Thanks, lYnda

YOU ALL Looks Great.. All that work :smooth:

We Also Thought Pirate night was the Best ..
Having Seen Fireworks on the Magic along time ago ..

As I Stood there on deck 10 IN AWE.. I looked at Jenn And Said
the only thing that would make this deck Party Better .. Is If They Shot off The fireworks From The Stack ... Like they use to..
Actually Thought They would do it ... Since it Was New, Thought it might Be part of the show Was Not at the very Begining..
Glad it is Now.. And we deserve 2 nights with fireworks.. :)

I also hear that they are putting the finishing touches on a New Show.
Coming out For the May cruises.. No More Herc..
