20050514..May 14, 2005...Official Check in Disney's 1st 14 Day thru Panama Canal Part 2

On a totally different subject...
DS passport came in the mail today.
It took just over three weeks and that wasn't the rushed option...just normal.
Now a few years back when Hubby and I renewed ours we choose to have them "rushed" and it took 6 days.

I know passport turnaround times aren't all that exciting , but its not even 10 pm where I am and its the most exciting thing to happen today.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I really hope we get to see the shuttle from Castaway Cay...it is something I always wanted to watch.

I don' take my pillow with me except on car trips...I used to take my fuzzy blanket...I took it to Las Vegas once...I was 18 at the time ( I still have it on my bed :teeth: )

Well...DH will be home soon and we must get food in the house

Tomorrow is the start of my NASCAR season so I doubt I will be on till Monday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

I hope someone out there has a similar dilemma and can provide some helpful hints.

I have a pillow that I prefer to use -- it's soft, squishy and I really have challenges sleeping without it. We've sailed many 7-day cruises, and I've tolerated not having "hug pillow" around. But 14-days (plus four more at Disneyland) is an eternity. I want a good night's sleep!

Do I pack the pillow? It could fill half the suitcase. Do I bring it as a carry-on? I would feel weird wandering around the terminal with a pillow in hand (but I guess I could easily take a nap waiting to board on embarkation day :) ).

I throw myself to the mercy of the DisBoards experts. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Randall

:earsboy:

What about that storage vacuum thing they publicize on TV - where you put clothes or linens in a plastic bag and then suck all the air out, making things very thin? For the return, I guess you could ship some things home rather than pack them (I'm guessing the vacuum thing is too big to pack itself). Anyone familiar with this and know whether it would make any sense to use? I have no idea myself.

Stacey-you don't need to apologize for lurking. You're welcome here anytime......it's just that evil twin we will have to keep our eye out for!

Yep, I love the mush? pillows too. Jamie got three for Valetine's, two purple hearts and one long pink one. Maybe I'll borrow one for this cruise!

Yes. I have seen 2 launches. Almost 3! DH has seen ZERO and he really wants to see one. My first one was when I was staying at DVC Vero Beach and they arranged a tour over to KSC and we had a private viewing area on top of the astronaut building. I took my niece and DD. They loved it. The second time I was in Orlando and they had a night launch and I got up and watched on tv and then went outside and sure enough, saw that one too. The third.....well DH was with me and he jinxed the whole thing. It was a night launch also. Drove 2 nights in a row from WDW to KSC and both times we were just about there when we found out it has been postponed. Needless to say, DH was extremely disappointed, because he has just been dying to see one. And actually, you could see it parasailing. My DH took up the digital camera and took pictures while he parasailed! I'm sure you could do that too!

Would that work for weight loss also? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Actually, I saw those storage vacuum thingeys at Costco last week. But I didn't really pay attention to the price. Maybe they are on costco.com

Ugh, if only!!! Although since I started working towards my goal weight in December, I have lost and kept off 15 lbs so far. Though I do have a ways yet to go. I lost about 2-3 weeks of weight losing time due to Christmas feasting and time off for wisdom teeth removal, but I was able to maintain and at least not gain anything back. If I stick to my prescribed course of action, I should be about halfway to my goal weight by the time the cruise comes around. That goal weight was actually determined on our last cruise through their body analysis, and it was a lot HIGHER than I thought it would be. A lot more than all of those weights they tell you based on height and gender. It seems I have more muscle than average so I'm denser. Huh. All I care about is I don't have as far to go to be fit as I originally thought. Always a good thing :cheer2:

Okay...I'm still up...I know it's only 11:15pm, but I normally go to bed at 10:00!

Trying to get the castle birthday cake made tonight so I can frost it tomorrow morning. Had a little  accident with the first cake, hence the late hour. The last cake is in the oven now...just about ready to come out.

Wish me luck! :grouphug:

I am also on the weight loss track (doing Weight Watchers) and if I actually reach the weight goal they say I should be at I think if you looked at me sideways I'd disappear. If I could be so bold to ask - is the Body Analysis part of a Spa package or exercise package or can you get it separate? It would be fun to go into my meeting after the cruise and say "well according to the Disney Cruise Line I should weight XXX lbs!!!!".

We are back and 30 plus pages to catch-up on, no clue as to wither or not we got the excursions we wanted, will see when we get home.

Peter put us down for 4 (four ) of those bad boys, Thanks.

We would also be interested in the DVD.

Great Idea about the DIS Navigator, yeah Linda.

Actually kinda caught up, much to do with a pirate outfit , check the shore excursions, t shirts, etc.

We had a great trip, fresh lobster and dolphin, and yellow tail, etc etc etc , great diving and good weather, will post a photo of a close shark encounter.

In MIA gotta pack up and fly home today. SCUBA class tomorrow, Monday might be a good catch-up day.

Welcome new folks,

Good to hear the shuttle launch is off a day,

DCL lets you on the ship when you get off in Mexico it will be just like the parent and one child getting off. We won't go through customs in Mexico. We will just get off with our KTTW card and I always take my ID. Never had anyone look at me besides ship personnel in stops in Cabo and Acapulco.

I would be glad to deliver a floor of navigators. We are always up early so a nice walk would be fine. As we do not know what deck we are on yet, I guess if you still need people just pick us a deck(s). We would be glad to actually do 2 decks if you need us. Please let me know.

Bye, Kim

We have seen two shuttle Launches ,one day and one night .The night one was more dramatic,we watched these from Titusville outside mcDonalds and the view was great, you could see the Launchpad from there. So a bit disappointed that the Launch now on the 15th ,and not such a close view.

We have seen multiple shuttle launches from as far away as Orlando to as close as being across a small bay at KSC. The one at KSC was a night launch and the launch turned night into a bright day for a minute or so, the ground shook, and the sound was unbelievable. Being at CC we might see the fuel tanks separate.

Stateroom Volunteer = Will Be looking for One Volunteer To Deliver The DIS Navigator That Will Be published each Day By Seaulater, Will contain What is Going on Each Day with The Dis Events
Deck 7,6,2,5 Accounted for. DECK 8 Still Not accounted for.

Seaulater = I hereby volunteer to make the Disboard Navigator for this cruise. Now, I'm not coming up with an original idea here, but credit goes to Mark and Mary from the 10 day Christmas Cruise who made the Navigator and delivered to everyone's "fish" for when they arrived at their stateroom door.

So, I think we had a couple of volunteers to deliver, so I will make up the navigator (for everything we have scheduled prior to the cruise), print, bring, and deliver to everyone. I will also bring extras for the sailaway party(ies) and all that good stuff.
What Mary did is post the Navigator before we left on her website and then people could print out if they wanted. I did, and it was handy.
So here's what it will list:
1. People's names; location and whether they are playing tag or not..
2. Each day and the schedule of disboard activities for that day.
3. A place for Notes
4. Anything else that might be deemed important.

Welcome back Scott.

Well, an early morning here. Was up till after midnight and awake at 5, couldn't sleep, too much Disney on my mind!

Congrats to those losing weight. 2004 was my year of weight loss and I made a goal to be to a reasonable weight before the 10 day Christmas Cruise. I behaved all year (not even eating Girl Scout cookies) and by the time we left I was 53 pounds lighter and felt much better. In fact, last night I was looking at our picture we had taken at Disneyland Paris on Thanksgiving 2003 and thought, I need to go back and have another picture taken, I look absolutely horrendous!

I even behaved on the cruise although I did splurge occasionally, but tried to eat chicken, and salmon and once in a while something sinfully delicious for dessert. I just kept saying..smaller portions, smaller portions! It worked, I only gained 2 pounds in ten days and took it off when I came home. So I am continuing to try to behave before this cruise. Just bought a new swimsuit yesterday at Costco for a deal!

Okay, going to work on taxes today, but first need to go look at the Magic in port.

ONLY 12 MORE WEEKS UNTIL WE CRUISE!!!! :cool1:

Yes, the Magic is in port. Those poor cruisers, it's 8:25 a.m. and they are probably being kicked off the ship as I post! Oh well, that just makes it closer for us.

I was thinking..............dangerous thing, I know................does anyone think that Disney will make a bigger deal when our ship leaves Port Canaveral on the 14th? I thought maybe the CM's on shore would do something "BIGGER" than wave at us with their Mickey hands? I thought about making a big sign and unrolling it saying something with the Kingdom to Kingdom theme and a goodbye to Port Canaveral. I was thinking the shelf paper size (18-24 inches wide), I could paint, roll up and put in my mailing tube on the way and we could unroll it and hang it off the side as we depart. I was thinking it could be about 30 feet in length?

Any ideas?

Hey Linda: Sounds like a great idea. Sorry you're so far away or I'd offer to help. Anything I can do from afar???

Linda- Kingdom to kingdom would be a must. Could also include something like "California or bust" or "Goodby Canaveral, hello L.A.". If you didn't want to carry it on the plane, you could mail it to us and we spoiled Floridians can bring it with us on our one hour drive to the port. Let us know if we can help. Alex

Lynda --

Thanks for the generous offer. We live in Orlando, so the trip to the port is only one hour. Yes, we are spoiled! :teeth:

NejTheLion had a good idea about those bags where you suck out all the air with a vacuum. May have to look at that. Once we unload all of the things we are bringing on with us that won't be coming home (wine, rum, laundry detergent, toiletries) I may have enough room to squish in the pillow.

I'm also used to having a dog sleeping at (well, more like on) my feet at night. Lynda, I may need to borrow Cash one night! :rotfl:

I agree , this is a MUST. Let us know what you decide for the banner. I am certain that there will be a special going away party. I was told this when talking to DCL. I figure this is the biggest party Disney will throw culminating with the arrival of the Magic in L.A.. This is BIG. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
