Shhh! We haven't told her that ALL hotels have room service! Just the ship, where it's "free". ;)
As far as she's concerned there is "room service" with a kitchenette. "Dad, can you get a ........" , "Mom, please bring me a ........"

You get the idea. :earseek:

Sure! I actually liked the process a lot! When the boys (my sons) were around we went several times. There are some excellent spots up North in the Pecos Wilderness that are beautiful.

Now you've got me thinking....... backpacking or diving...... ummmm???????

I know Matt & Jim's answer to this question. Not OR, but backpacking AND diving. They have done this before and had a great time. :Pinkbounc

At the SAME time???

Scuba is an "equipment intensive" sport. I'm thinking, pack horses for that one. I sure wouldn't want to backpack scuba gear, food, tent, clothes on MY back..... :earseek:

HA HA - Not at the same time, just the same trip. Drive to the mountains, put on your backpack and hike for a few days, come back to the car, drive to a dive location and dive. (Their reasoning to me is that they need to "soak" in the water for a few days after hiking and before coming home to clean off all of the hiking dirt from themselves.) :sunny:

DW has it right, both in the same trip. Works great, but a real bear to load the van. All the dive gear in first, than the camping gear, and than the backpacking gear. Coolers, tents, grill, tanks,......It goes to the ceiling.

The last time Matt and I did this we did backpacking, white water rafting, business meetings (he went to Six Flags, but did make it for dinner at Foco De Cho), a business conference, and diving. That was a packing nightmare.

:rotfl2: I can imagine!! Kind of reminds me of packing for a 10 day cruise! :earseek:

One of the things I'd like to do it to dive in one of the high lakes either in New Mexico or Colorado. But, it would be better if the lake had drive up access. :moped:

Well, when do you want to schedule it?

Summer works for me! Maybe sometime in August. Water would be the warmest it gets. We would have to deal with algae bloom, but that isn't the worst thing in the world.

Let me think about it.

If you go in August it would have to be without Matt as he goes back to school in early August.

Gus

Now that's MY kind of camping!!! We camped a LOT at Ft. Wilderness when the kids were young... then the DVC came along and that was the end of my camping days....LOL ;)

Okay... back to catching up!.... at least it's only a few pages now... :teeth:

Mark: My photo is in Ofoto... how can I smallen it so that it's not so huge here??? Remember.. I'm technologically impaired....

I (obviously) wasn't taking that into consideration. Alicia would have the same problem. I was just considering warmest water scenario. Might be more fun to do Southern California areas.

Oh, the kids are coming. They don't have to. In fact, just thinking about it, I am be in San Franciso in September. How about a three day liveaboard out to the Channel Islands?

Hmmmmm,

Now that does spark some interest!!

I got a fun board game today, The Magic Kingdom, Disney and Hasbro. Nick is here for a few days ( 7yo nephew) and we are having fun playing it. We talk about the great memories from our past visits. Tomorrow I will see if he likes the Pirates board game. I just wish he would fly with out his Mom so we could cruise together.

When Karen gets back I think we should have her change the title of the thread again to read "Jim & Kevin's excellent adventures under the sea".

Just kidding you guys - I actually love reading about all your adventures - past and future!

Morning everyone. Love to hear about the dive adventures.

Speaking of backpacking, did I ever tell you all about DH and DS's backpacking adventure? As I recall, that was about the time I joined the thread. They did a 40 mile hike up to a glacier in Washington State, carrying all the gear on their backs for the 5 day trip. That's probably why DH doesn't want to tent camp anymore :)

Same old same old here. DD did make the chorus in Guys and Dolls but didn't get a speaking role. I had forgotten that there are only 3 female speaking roles in the whole show, so I told her not to be too disappointed. I think there are about a dozen for guys. She's already singing the songs though, so she's still happy to be in the show.

DS was made an assistant patrol leader in his new Boy Scout troop. Man is he proud. We got home from the meeting, and he goes in to DH and says "Dad, there's a new assistant patrol leader in my patrol." DH (having been cued ahead of time by me) says "Oh really? Who is it?" DS says (with a HUGE grin), "ME! So now it's very important that I don't miss anything! I have to go the PLCs too. (That's patrol leader conferences). I'm just happy to see him enjoying scouts again!

Have a great day everyone! Lisa

So what's the deal with scuba trips and no kids? Who says you guys get to take off and have fun without all of us?

Oh, by the way, DD and I might go to WDW in August. See ya.
