Done. :)

A note to the new people.....I am also known as "Mean Mom".. but I don't really beat them. A little duct tape now and then, maybe......

Guess I'll cook dinner after all. I don't have the energy to clean myself up enough to go out. Geez....someone take my temperature!

Back to chit chat later. Or talk to myself..........

Took Maggie to "Dog's Night Out" at Ritter's (ice cream shop) Wow. Did all of those other dogs WEAR HER OUT! She is sawing logs. Couldn't even stay awake to eat the rest of her dinner. She, all 19 pounds of her, especially enjoyed romping with the Newfoundland and the Great Pyrenees!! Hello!! Pick on someone your own size, Maggie!!! Of course, by the end she was covered in slobber!

:worship:

Thanks Karen! You also got TOP & #9300!

OhMinnie....that looks pretty cool!
But did you have to pirate: the T.O.P. AND post #9300????

I guess you earned them, since we are causing you all this trouble!

WOW! I had NO idea I'd get TOP or #9300. When the post came up and it was TOP I thought to myself "cool, without even trying!" But had no idea we were hitting #9300.

Really should go and do a little cross stitch....puppy is sleeping, kids are reading in bed. Maybe I'll play my geeky TIVO show I have taped (tinksdad, you'd like this) It's something like "Science of a house" ...it's all about the different systems in a house and how they are all put together. Sad, huh?

Looked up the official title and description of that show so you can all see what a geek I am.

Deconstruction: The Science of Building a House...Explore the anatomy of a house by tearing it down piece by piece.

How's the telethon going? Haven't watched it...up until a little bit ago I've been working.
The Telethon's done for another year. Pretty quiet except for a monitor going up in smoke! All I heard on the headsets was everyone yelling we got a fire! No big deal, just a lot of smoke! I replaced the monitor with another one but then had to listen to everyone whine how stinky the room was. Oh well! Just another exciting day in broadcasting! I'm going to go exercise and unwind!

Is beating them legal in Florida?

I don't need to beat them. I just threaten them with hot dogs while DW and I eat steak, lobster tails, mussels....Since they love good food they are willing to do pretty much anything we ask.

I asked DD why she does her chores and she replied "So I can live here". I guess they really don't have an option.

Tomorrow night is Seared Pork Tenderloin with hunter sauce and porchini mushrooms, sauteed vegatables, and a side of pasta (for the kids). That should be good enough for them to do their chores.

The real news is that they just announced schools are closed for the week. That means they missed 6 days for Charlie and now 6 days for Frances. Instead of getting out before Memorial Day we may now be going to July 4th.

Hi Sharon! I, for one, am glad to see you! Kevin wants to know if you ate your cookies.

What's this about double tanks?

Yes, Lisa, that does sound like a song. I think you should copyright it.

Jim, Matt just posted on the teen thread, bragging about how much school he's missed. Love the comment from your DD.

Stacey, you will need to explain why you are known as "mean Mom". I haven't heard about your kids having to shovel coal or anything.

When Kevin walked into night, I told him "I need a Margarita" (it was the State Fair). So he obliged. I hope this post made some sense.

I'm still thinking about it. I know what kind of trouble TinksDad gets into on this board and I just don't want the same to happen to me. I enjoy causing the trouble, just don't want to get any back.

Hey TinksDad, did you buy those double tanks you were looking at?

Remember, we've been trapped in this house since Thursday, all together, 24/7, so we are starting to get a little punchy. I don't care if they have power at the office tomorrow, I'm going to work.
Hey, if it works for me, then you should be able to handle it as well. Sometimes you just gotta live with the consequences.

:scared1: Sharon, watch him very, very closely. Me thinks he's up to something... LOL

No to the tanks, sent you an email.

I've met the kids in question. Although Matt is a typical teen as far as I can tell, Jim's DD Lisa is one of those kids that fairly vibrates with energy. She probably thinks that doing chores is FUN!

Welcome Dobelover........

Today was the last day of summer vacation for the kids.
Big day tommorrow..........Grade 5 for DD and Grade 1 for DS.
Ahhh, no more half days of school for us.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Perhaps I can finally get something done around the house.

And, the kids still don't have a clue about the cruise.

Hope we can still pull it off as the biggest surprise ever.

By the way any word on how Castaway Cay faired during Frances?

I earned my Mean Mom title because I was always late for DS's ball games because I was here posting!
Same for getting Jordan to dance on time.
But, yes.....I am SUCH a meanie. Ha!

Well...guess I'll hit the trail early again tonight. Gonna go watch "Monk".

OhMinnie.....you're not a geek. I watched a show with Jay tonight about building sky scrapers. Your show sounds more interesting than that!
My texture looks great, by the way.

HAPPY BACK TO WORK TUESDAY TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!!

Good night!

Stacey

:Pinkbounc Yea Afff! That is a major milestone! Good luck to the kids tomorrow!

Setting someone up for a T.O.P. now!

You actually nailed it on the head. She loves doing chores. She wants me to make a big list for her and she works them until they are all crossed off. It's the competitive nature in her wanting to cross the chores off the list. The more I give her the harder she works. I'm fairly confidenent that is has a great deal to do with her gymnastics.

And yes I do take advantage of it. Someday she will figure it out and stop, but until then......

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Back to work for me.

To all our Florida cruisers - good luck with your clean-up. Hopefully power is back or will be soon and life will return to normal quickly. You are all in my prayers.

Speaking of prayers - say one about Ivan. Two fold please. First and foremost keep it away from Florida - they don't need any more.

Second - pray that it doesn't do too much damage to St. Lucia which is where it is headed now!

Well off to read the boards and then back to work.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning all. Jim, I want to export your DD's chore energy! My kids both have bottles full of energy which magically disappears when it's time to work. DD actually did help us with the garage yesterday though. DS disappeared on his bike. We had asked him to put it outside so we could get to that side of the garage, and next thing you know, he was GONE! He did do the dishes after dinner though.

Stacey, I know you were tired if you didn't want to go out to eat. I think you are probably the only person who eats out more than my family!

And Karen, is Ritters a frozen custard shop? We had one of those in Franklin IN when we lived there. It was to die for! I really miss it (but my waist line doesn't!).

To our Floridians, I'm glad you all came through okay. And I'm praying for Ivan to give you a miss.

And now that it's less than 2 weeks away, any takers for my Hershey Park tickets? 4 of them, $30 apiece. I can get more if people want the good price.

Happy Monday.....oops, I mean Tuesday all.
