Hello!!!
I am actually here! It's been a long day. Didn't get my usual "computer + coffee" fix this morning. Had a few surprises waiting for me when I woke up. Nothing to bore you all with. (HA....since when???)

Anyway: Mouse Update:
I think we may have gotten rid of them. Haven't seen or heard anything more since we caught those 2 the other night. Have had several drown themselves in the pool tho.....we have some people up the hill building a house, so I guess that's where they're coming from!

Dee...lots of Pixie Dust! So sorry for your troubles!

LeiLani....what can I say? We have already been discussing the Neighborhood Watch system....this may be worse than we expected. I got to see a certain little Tinkerbell in action at WDW, and boy, oh boy.....or is it BOYS! T.R.O.U.B.L.E.

I'm not even going to discuss getting to sleep in tomorrow....it will just jinx me. I thought I'd get to do that this week, when the kids went back to school, but NO!
Have been loving the excitement of the Olympics, but it does get late. And the kids have wanted to stay up and watch, too...so it's hard. They are usually over by 11:00 though.
Such a cutie that little Carly is! I did not want the sour puss Svetlana to win. Maybe if she would have smiled and been a tad personable....but she gives "Diva" a really bad definition!

Here's something fun.....just for my friend Mary! I went outside last night to put Molly to bed, and there was the biggest tarantula on our patio. I had to go get Jay and Jared so that they could see it. It was cool. As big as my fist. We should have captured it, but we've done that before, and they need to be in their own environment, anyway.
So, do I have anyone who wants to come here to visit??

I went to Home Depot to get some things today and got into a long conversation with a fellow who works there. (Older gent, told me he was in his 70's....and the rest of his life story...I have no idea why people talk to me as if I were a relative)
Anyway, I was looking for the little suction cup hooks for the Christmas lights for the ship.....the guy thought I was being a tad premature, but I like to be prepared. Anyway...the more we talked about it, hehad a point...they stick well on glass (he told me they stick better if you spit on them first! Too funny) but they may not stick to the walls of the room. What do you all think? I bought some anyway, have stuck it (with spit, not just water) on a piece of wood doorframe...guess I should go look and see if it fell off yet. He suggested those things that 3M makes....you peel the back off, and it has sticky stuff, and when you take them off you just pull on the one piece. But I told him I could not leaveany marks. He says they don't. Anyone???

Stacey - I use those to put up Christmas decorations around our house because I do not want to put any holes in the walls. They work great and they don't leave any marks on the walls. I will probably use them for our staterroom. If it is something really heavy they might not hold very well, but they seem to do great with most things.

This might have been brought up before and if it has sorry, but 558 pages are a lot to go through. Does anyone know what the weather will be like in Dec? I know it can change at any time, but has anyone heard what it might be like when we cruise. I have a 15yo wanting to know if she needs to bring her parka or shorts.

LeiLani

Key West and Port Canaveral might be a little (very little) chilly, but the weather in the Caribbean is pretty stable. It won't be as blasted hot as it is in the Spring and Summer months, but the water is warm, and it will at least be in the upper 80's, low 90's.
When we were in Curacao, and then again in Bonaire, it was Nov-Dec, and it was hot hot hot. They are both further down toward the Equator than where we're going, so for us, it won't be THAT hot, but plenty warm.

And...which kind of hooks did you use, the 3M ones?

Thought I would give a short report for our trip to Destin, FL.

A little background first. I was born and raised(until 14yo) in a small town (Niceville) across the bay from Destin. My Mom's side of the family still lives there and Mom and Dad will be moving there when her chemo is done. So this trip was 2 fold. A nice vacation and a chance to see family.

The trip included: myself, DD-Brittany 15, DD-Alyssa 8, Brittany's best friend, Brittney 15, and her Mom, my best friend Shelly.

We left on Wednesday and drove down with the car packed to the gills. We got there on Thursday and we were staying in a condo on the beach.

It was a pretty relaxing trip. Most days we spent at the beach or in the pool. The water was really warm and very calm, until about mid-week when it started getting a little rough. By Friday, our last day, it was getting really bad and we spent most of the day in the pool. There were a couple of days when we went shopping but that was about it. We celebrated Britt's birthday down there and like I said before she had to wear a hat that said Happy Birthday on it when we went out that night. She had a great time. The only problem was that Britt and her friend kept getting picked up by guys that were 18 or older. There was one guy who was 23. Oh Brother!!! We definetly need that neighborhood watch program on the ship.

Anyway, we really had a great time. If you have never been to the beaches in the part of FL you are really missing a treat. Between Pensacola and Panama City (called the Emerald Coast) the sand is so white and fine and the water is so clear and warm in the summer time. You should give it a shot if you are looking for a place to relax on the beach.

Everyone have a great Friday.

Yes, I used the 3M ones and they worked great. You just pull the sticky part down when you are done, and it releases from the wall.

You aren't talking about MINE, are you? I thought she was being described as "sweet" and "poor picked on". This can't be right! Actually, she has been walked to the car the last two days by boys. And so it begins...

Leilani, you might want to tell Brittany that it will be COLD. Take the big sweaters and long pants, leave the short skirts and bikini at HOME. :smooth:

I was thinking for the DD Jamie (12) that a snowsuit from head to toe with goggles and hat oughta do the trick and keep the boys away!!!!

She'll fit right in with the Disney Christmas spirit!

Linda

:teeth:

LOL I was just thinking about Gregg, at dinner with the Terrible Three (or it might be the Fearsome Four, we haven't met Tinkfan's DD yet). He'd better wear some armor if they all slug like mine does!

Linda, you're probably going to be OK. From what I remember of the Oceaneer's Lab, the boys are really only interested in the Playstation. The girls start younger, but the boys kick in around 14 or so.

Ah, you don't know my daughter!!!!

And she is into the slugging thing right now. Her friend (boy) Shawn, who is 13, spends almost every day in Salt Lake. They (Shawn and Jamie) are in a play together.

So his mom brings him to my office at 4:30, we go pick up Jamie at 5 p.m., they both sit in back of jeep and call for the middle and then they end up using the same seat belt and then he tickles her, she slugs him. This continues for 20 minutes as I drive them out to play rehearsal (oh, plus we have to stop and get dinner and/or ice cream).

If I make it through Sept. 18 it will be a miracle!!!

 Oh, no...not your baby! Some other girl. ::yes::

And I was rolling on the floor at the second part! THAT was a very clever answer! Yes...it will be cold...very cold. Parkas....with zippers that lock.

So, Tinkerbell (Ooops, I mean DD!) has been walked to the car??? good thing you're picking her up, or she'd be IN someone's car. Yikes! I hate to think that it won't be long before they have friends who drive. I think I just instantly sprouted a whole pile of grey hair!

I thought they were the Three Mouseketeers!

Our Three Mouseketeers have grown into a group of at least five!!
Now I guess they shall be called the Fab Five.

Linda....too funny. I can't tell you how many times I've had to sit through that. I found out with DD#1 that I was NOT allowed to tell them to "knock it off". I can only do that if they are fighting with their siblings. Heaven forbid I should embarrass them in front of a BOY.
And, not to alarm you, but Jordan was only 12 when we cruised the first time, and the CM from Australia had her posing for pictures on Deck 9. I thought Jordan was walking right behind me. I turned around, and she was way back there, and he had her camera! The guy had to have been at least 40. (He gets older every time I tell the story! He was maybe 25)
I never wanted girls. My mother cursed me. She was mad at me (because I was a girl) and she pointed her finger at me, and she said "Just you wait. Some day, you will have a daughter. And she will be JUST LIKE YOU!"
Well, thank YOU , Mother. I had TWO daughters!!!

Before I get someone riled up.....I love my girls!!!

Ah, the famous Mother's curse. I think I must have gotten it too. I've been telling DD not to marry a hyper boy, in case she winds up with one like HIM.

I was informed tonight that her "posse" has plans for Sunday. Possibly a movie or a trip to the mall. And it reminded me of a movie I recently saw on TV (and cannot remotely remember what it was) where a Dad was in diguise and shadowing his 16 yo daughter and a friend on a night out. Did you hear that hon? Got the disguise ready?

Oh yeah, I just remembered the movie. It was "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen". One that we knew we could identify with as soon as we heard the title.

Those are the coolest little hooks around. Thanks for the reminder, I need to pick up a few as well. Are These the ones? your talking about.

The should carry those at any of the "Home Owner Hell" places around you. You know, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. You might try Walgreens as well.

Looks like I'll need to break out my "Inspector Clouseau" disguise and learn to slink more......

Don't mind me maam, just puumpin' up the parrot!!

tinksdad - those are the ones and they do work great. Wal-mart also has them. Every year I just buy a bunch when I am buying Christmas decorations.

Diana - you are so clever!!!::yes:: That's exactly what I will tell her. It is COLD, VERY, VERY COLD!!!

Stacey - the grey hairs have already sprouted for me. First of all in Iowa, teenagers can get their learners permit at age 14 so Brittany has had hers for a year. Then, once they complete driver's ed, (which Brittany did in June) they can request a home to school permit. This means they can drive from home to school and back, to any sports practices, and any sports or school related activites. I will give you one guess what we got yesterday. And to top that off one of Brittany's friends turned 16 in July. Boy, talk about grey hairs the first time I sent her off with her friends in a car with no adult. That was scary. But, I gues we have to let them go sometime.

Yes, those are the ones. Home Depot only had one package left, and they were the big ones. I went to Eckerd, and they had a bunch of really tiny ones, just right for the Christmas lights.
