;) My kids went on a very long Geography, Social Studies, Civics and Cultural Diversity field trip last fall. They went to Miami, Jamaica and Bonaire!

Whatever works!

Hi everyone.
I remenber those crying days. DH did not sleep at night for the first 6 months of his life. He would take cap naps durning the day. That was terrrible as I had no sleep or DH for that matter for 6 months.

DD is missing 7 days of school. She is missing 12/15 to 12/23. The school police will be coming after me. I hope they understand when I tell them as she is only in 2nd grade.

Well I will miss you all. We will be back 8/29. Have a great 10 days everyone. Fondly, Gail

 Have fun, Gail!!! Still jealous, but I'll get over it eventually.
Safe travels, and do a dance for me!

Have a great time Gail! We'll miss you!

When you get back we need to start talking about Hershey!

Thank you all for the nice wishes for vacation. I finally finished packing. Wow what a project and it was just for myself and DH. I can't imange what it will be like for the 10 sailing this December. I do ALL the packing for our family. I am lucky if DH remembers to bring anything. Actually he does remember to bring his watch, razor, sunglasses cell phone and $$$$$!!!!!!

I also have everything set up for the children and the refrig. stocked. I just have a few last things to do in the am as we are not leaving until mid afternoon. I am looking forward to seeing MAMA MIA again on Broadway. DH has never seen it and he loves Abba's music. This was my belated birthday gift to him. I am also taking him out to dinner at Ruth Chris Steak House. He will be surprised with that!

David , I got your pm.

Anyway, I am off to dream land. Good night all, sweet dreams. Gail

That sounds so wonderful, doesn't it?

Wish I could answer your question, Paul. Have you been in the bathroom when they're passing around the vacation schedule?

Trying to keep one eye on the Olympics....
Still trying to figure out why Martina Navritalova was playing tennis.... We couldn't find anyone younger???
Watched Piersol very closely....I used to swim backstroke and butterfly. They've changed the way they do the flip turns since I used to compete, so I couldn't tell whether he did anything wrong or not. It looked like he "coasted" into the turn a little longer than I would have expected.

We had such a gorgeous day today!
There was a thunderstorm this a.m., some rain and clouds almost all day. It was only 72 when I left the house this a.m. and is only 88 right now.

Anyway...I'm going to go watch the rest of the "show" and go to bed.

GOOD FINALLY FRIDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!!

Good night!

Stacey

Last time I was on the board we were at page 257...

Yeah, we're still going. And I'm still married, a minor miracle considering the past several months (which is the reason I disappeared -- too depressed -- marriage seriously on the rocks, my son's asthma came back after THREE YEARS of good health, car trouble totaling ~$5000 in repairs...)

So currently the marriage is on the mend (we'll see how long THAT lasts...), my son is once again asthma-less, and I'm leaving for Switzerland on Saturday with my best friend. Part vacation, and for me 3 days of work towards the end, covering the AIDS Vaccine conference in Lausanne, the assignment that pays for the vacation :)

I LOVE the freelance life. :jester:

So we decided, since we're flying into Orlando 12/16, that we would catch Mickey's X-Mas party on the 17th in the MK. It happens to be the last night they're running the party this season and what better way to get in the Disney Christmas Cruise mood than to have an MK Christmas Party the night before???? :bounce:

Did I totally miss my chance at dinner and Palo Brunch arrangements???? What about T-shirt stuff??? I was out of the loop for soooooooooooooo long...

<sigh> Pixie dust can't hurt right now. I still feel fairly vulnerable where the marriage is concerned and I so want to get it back to where we were…for almost 15 years before the <blip> hit the fan….

OK. I'm going to think happy, excited thoughts about Switzerland with Rose!

Dee - Nice to see you posting again. Sorry for all the troubles and I'm sending mucho PD your way!

Paul

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

TGIF Everyone!

Dee - welcome back! Sorry to hear life has been so tough for you lately. Lots of pixie dust heading your way. Palo brunch has been closed (we were only able to get the private room for 14 I believe). I think some others are trying to get the same day so we'll all be in Palo together. Are you late or early seating for dinner? You might still be able to be added to the groups there. As for the t-shirts - orders haven't been put in yet so there is time for that (though we really should start talking about that). :D

Paul - aren't you proud of me - I didn't spill the beans about the Olympics last night. I was a good girl and went to bed without spoiling it for you.

Doc - do you make house calls. My neck/shoulder are still killing me! Mark has been putting flexall on it and he says he can feel where it is all knotted up. Don't know what I did but I want it to go away!

Gail - have a wonderful time! ;

Well off to read the rest of the boards. The good news is I don't go into work today. Just packing for our trip. Mark is going to work at least a 1/2 day and then we are off to Wisconsin. Irish Fest here we come! For anyone who is interested here's a link to what we'll be doing this weekend. Irish Fest

I won't be in chat tonight so have a great time there and I think we're brining the notebook so I should be able to check in over the weekend.

Morning all. Dee, welcome back. I'm sorry to hear things have been rough. Check your pm's (it will probably be later today, since I have to run to work now).

FIL update. He's out of the hospital. They have him on the heartbeat regulating drug, adjusted his pacemaker to "fire" easier, and require a checkup in 6 weeks, when they plan to decide when they're replacing the battery. Sounds like a go for the cruise though! Yeah, yeah yeah!!!!!

I won't be in chat tonight either. We have tickets to the Marine Corps sunset parade, which is held every Friday evening at their headquarters in DC. It's really an impressive sight! They have a silent drill team (the thing where they flip their rifles around in sequence without saying a word!), at least one or two of the bands perform, and all the Marine's stationed there go through an inspection drill. We got a group of 28 tickets for our office. I can't wait! Anyone who is in the DC area and is interested in going, let me know, and I'll tell you how to get tickets.

Mary, hope you and Mark have a good trip. Gail, you and DH enjoy as well!

And Paul, we don't get a vacation until the cruise either. So you're not alone! Unless you count the 3 day weekend to Williamsburg during Hurricane Charley last weekend, or the 3 day weekend Hershey meet.

Got to run. Have a great Friday everyone!

Gail - Have a great trip! - You'll have to do a mini-report about Bermuda - want to go there - but have never been...

Welcome back Dee... Hope that things settle down for you - PD on the way..... A bunch of us are doing MVMCP on the 17th... we all agree... what a better way to start the trip.....

Well - definitely enjoyed the 2 days off - even though I had to get up to take Lauren to school.....

I've enjoyed the Olympic coverage - but I do wish that NBC wouldn't drag the coverage on so late - I mean it's not like it's live - why did they have to have Carly Patterson's last event after 11pm? DD wanted to stay up and watch - and I was too tired - gave up at 11.....

Have a great Friday - Hope to make chat tonight.....

Hi everyone.

Hi Dee. I am so sorry to hear all you have been going through. You are in my thoughts and lots of pixie dust.

Lisa, I am so gald to hear FIL is out of the hospital and he is joining you on the DC!!!!!!!!!

Mary, Have a great time this weekend. I look forward to hearing about it when I return.

Virgil, I will bring a trip report back for you. We have not been back to Bermuda since 1997. We had our honeymoon there in 1995. We are so excitied to go back. I will fill you all in when we return on the 29th.

Have a wonderful week everyone. Fondly-Gail

Happy Friday everyone!

Those travelling have a safe, happy trip!

We have no more vacations till the cruise either, except soccer tournament Labor Day weekend and Hershey weekend.

Lisa-glad your FIL is doing better and looks like he'll be able to make the cruise.

I went to the urologist yesterday. He wants to see if he'll be able to blast this stone, or whatever they do, so sent me to get x-rays. I don't go back until Tuesday because he is taking a 4 day weekend - UGH! Dr's aren't supposed to have vacactions are they Virgil ? ( just kidding)
A least I am not in immediate pain. This stone was kinda found by accident so lets just hope it stays content a while longer. Just knowing the potential pain I am in for is scary. It needs to at least wait for Sam to come home on Monday.

I am still trying to finish Kristen's room and the new computer arrived by UPS last night about 8pm. I wanted to watch the Olympics so I wouldn't even open the box. Looks like a busy day.

Have a good one!!

Good Friday Morning Everyone!
Well, we are finally home and I can finally get on the computer. I tried to catch up and read all the pages yesterday, but then I got called away. So, today I decided to go ahead and post and then try to catch up.

Thanks for all your thoughts while I was away. Mom is slowly but surely getting better but she still hasn't started chemo yet so she worries about that. Trying to get everything set up is a big hassle.

Since I haven't read the pages yet, I hope everyone who was in the path of Charley did okay. We have friends who own a vacation home in Punta Gorda and they had some damage to their home. We are keeping everyone in South FL in our prayers.

The girls start school next Wednesday, so we are trying to get everthing ready for that.

Mary - I know this was some time ago, but when will you be at the BWV next June? We will be there from June 7-17th in the Grand Villa. It's the all girl trip. Myself, Brittany, 4 of her friends, and a few of the mothers.

Everyone have a great day.

Thanks Mary!
I agree with Virgil though. I wish they would start them a little earlier. I'm too old to stay up that late!

LeiLani - we miss you by a day :( We check in on the 18th. We're spending the week there before the clean show which is the next weekend. Thursday and Friday of that week I'll be on my own during the day while Mark is at the show.

Glad to hear your mom is doing better. Remember that I'm just a pm away if you need to talk.

HI Leilani, good to hear from you! Figured you've been busy with your Mom and getting ready for school. Don't worry about catching up, lots of fluff. Yes, a few of us were in Charley, but everyone is OK. We still haven't heard from Leslie though, have we? There are still some power outages in FL.

Dee, welcome back. Glad to hear things are better!

Virgil, your Olympics are really late! Ours are over by 11, I usually turn it off when I've seen all I'm interested in. Are they doing men's individual gymnastic apparatus tonight? I need to find a schedule. I agree about the Navritalova! I guess she wanted to do it, so they let her. Now the thing I really don't get, how can US citizens compete for other countries? Wish they had explained that when they did the story on the Greek baseball team, which is almost all Americans.

Hi All!

Thanks for the welcome back. Safe travels to anyone heading out of town.

I have finally caught up on the 70 pages I had to read.

Tina - sorry to hear about all the medical problems, hope things get better soon.

Lisa - prayers going out for your FIL and I hope they get everything straightned out for him.

dee - welcome back and here's a little *PD* coming your way.

Mary - it's too bad we will miss you next year. Thanks again for all the thoughts about Mom and I will get up with you soon to talk.

Scuba Diver - we used Island Watersports in April for the jet ski tour and had a blast. We are trying to decide if we want to rent skis from them in Dec just to ride around and have fun.

Virgil - thanks for the B-day thought even though it was late. We celebrated both my B-day and Brittany's while we were away. We were in Destin for Britt's and she decided she wanted to wear a Happy Birthday hat around all evening. She got a kick out of people asking her if it was her birthday.

Stacey - trip reports were wonderful and I sure can't wait to party with you and all the other DISers for 10 days. DCL better watch out!!! DH is an orthopedic surgeon so I might be able to answer some of your questions about hip replacement, but we have not been through ourselves. My grandmother went through it several years ago and was fine. So if you have any questions just email me.

Got to go do a little more shopping for school (does it ever end) so I will talk to you all later. ( A little side bit - Stacey and Dinana will really like this. Brittany had registration for school today and when she got home this morning all she had to say was there are some "cute boys" at the school and she can't wait to start school. Does anyone have any chains they would like to sell. Just Kidding!!)

BTW - Britt and Alyssa will be missing Fri, Mon, Tue & Wed when we go in Dec. I just figured the schools would get over it. It really stinks when they only let them out of school two days before Christmas. They don't even get a two week break this year.

LeiLani

I forgot to add that my kids too will be missing school. When we thought we were moving to GA they would be out on the 17th. Here they go to the 23rd, so they will miss 3 1/2 days. I made our flight out on Friday at 2:30, so they can get a 1/2 day in and DH and can get everything packed and ready to go. We live very close to Dulles airport so getting that half day in was easy. I work in the school system and don't a real concern about it.

Look forward to more Olympics tonight. They aren't over here until midnight! Getting up each morning is getting harder. I will sleep in tomorrow though!!
