The weather is still beautiful up here in the Great Northwest. It has been a great summer here.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Paul

I just heard that the neighborhoods around WDW have no power, so that is probably why we haven't heard from Leslie.

 We finally made it home today - 2 days late. There are worse places to be stuck - just glad we stayed safe. Very weird to see trees, limbs and leaves all over Disney property.

We just had a great rain storm move through...not totally gone yet. Lots of thunder & lightning, and a good amount of rain! Whoo hoo!!
Didn't put out the fire in the mountains, but it did knock out my electricity for a while.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening.......

Back later,
Stacey

Stacey- just had to laugh at your post.

We had rain,
Didn't put out the fire.
Did lose electricity.
Hope you are all having a nice evening.

So nice and matter of fact as if you have fires on the mountain and lose electricity all the time.

:D

Long day - had some unexpected news.... Had a visit from an Emergency Medicine Doc - that was going to go to our site in Clarksburg - he didn't like it like he thought he would - so he stopped by on short notice to interview at my hospital.... I think that he really liked it - wants to come back for another interview and look at housing....

The doc that is sick - probably viral meningitis (we've had a ton of it here lately) is feeling better - so he should be back tomorrow night.... now if nobody else gets sick..... Only have to work 2 extra dayshifts - Monday and Tuesday.....

Oh well - off to bed... Couldn't stay awake to watch the Olympics - so I cheated and went online and found out the results....

Have a Great Evening!

Virgil - I hope things work out with your prospective new doc! You work way too much. I have found that people that work hard party hard. (Well at least I do)!

Paul

WELCOME HOME everyone

Well, Virgil...I guess that's good news and good news, and bad news.
Bad news, you're wearing yourself out.
Good news, you're making more $$
Good News, you may get a new doc!
And extra good news, the other one is coming back.
Good luck on all that!

Mary...I was a city girl through and through....screamed at the sight of a fly. But after living out here in the middle of nowhere, getting stranded because of the flooding and all that....I've had to shrug it off.
BUT.....wait till you hear me scream and whine if it messes up my plans!!!
And for the last three weeks, there have been at least two fires going back there. I hate it. It's very scary. My worst nightmare. (other than the one where I miss getting on the Magic)

And Paul.....I'm just a wimpy girl in disguise!

I just talked to my friends that live near the MK and they said that 3 more inches of rain fell there today. But the good news is that they have electricity, but no cable or phone. They were promised that the phone would be back on by 8/23. They drove around yesterday and today and said it is such a sight to see all the damage.

Stacey, I liked your trip report. It's not nice to scare bees when your daughter is around :teeth: .

I guess that means that I won't be allowed to scare bees on the cruise????

Off to bed I go......

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Monday!

Short work week for me as I have Friday off.

I hope we hear from Diana today that she got home safe and sound.

Also hope we hear from Leslie that they are ok as well.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning! Not quite as late as yesterday morning!!

Been up for almost 3 hours......where does the time go?

Had to see the kids off to school for the first day. Lots of excitement in my house this a.m.
I'm surprised, I'm a little sad....my "baby" went to Jr. High today.
I'm sure I worried about the girls when they went, too...but for some reason this has me feeling very odd. I'm worried about him...it's a big difference from grade school. I guess it's because he is the baby....I don't know. I'm not usually the fussy, worry-wart type of mom....:sad1:

I need to get into work and get my mind off of it. And when they get home, and he tells me he had a good day, then I'll be okay.

Have a nice day all........

Diana.....hope you're back and busy getting DD ready for school!

Stacey

Hi, it's me, back to myself again and safely home! It was quite a day. We didn't get assurance that we would be flying until Sunday morning at 8 am. The damage to trees, signs, and buildings in that part of Orlando was pretty shocking too. There were some boarded up windows at the airport, and you know it's all glass, and the terminal smelled like wet carpet. Wall to wall people back there. We got on our plane on time (4:30), but didn't take off until 6 pm. They had all the planes stacked up to take off on the one good runway, and all were holding for thunderstorms. We were glad to get home.

Yes, I'm sure Leslie is caught without the means to get on her computer, electricity or phone or cable. The WDW high speed internet worked during the storm, but went out Saturday afternoon. So Stacey, I didn't see your post. We could have gotten that magnet too, sorry!

So from one crisis to another, I hope it's not a trend on this thread. Now we have to worry about Stacey's fires!

It was nice Saturday evening and Sunday morning, before the next storm rolled in. We had sushi in Japan Sat. night, and watched Illuminations from the best vantage point yet, along the water in Japan. Sunday morning we ate breakfast at Spoodles, and made a quick trip to MGM, where Alicia became a Streetmosphere stalker and found several more lanyard pins. We like to make the most of our trips! The craziest thing we did was Tuesday at MGM. We were in the standby line for TOT, and found a stack of six Fastpass tickets for later in the day. just sitting on the wall. So we went back and rode TOT three times in an hour! We had to admit that was a tiny bit unsettling on the tummy. On Friday, when the parks were closing at 1 pm, we got through TOT twice in 25 mintues. A new record! Yes, we are TOT junkies.

Jumping around here, we did a Wishes cruise last Wednesday night. First time we'd done this, arranged it through the DIS boards to share the reservation of a group of ladies from Montana. We almost missed it, since we were waiting at the END of the Poly pier, and the specialty cruises were launching from close to the hotel. We realized this just in time. It was lovely, and really fun to see one of the Magical Gatherings boats with a large group, all learning to be pirates. We could hear the music a bit from their boat, but overall I enjoyed Wishes more from the train station with Vicki and Gregg on Monday night. Though we could see the castle better from the boat, the music really makes a difference in this show. Hadn't realized that the castle turns into Mickey's sorcerer hat (via lighting) at one point.

So my favorite attraction, well after TOT and Splash, is now the Philharmagic. LOVE that show. Really wanted to do it again, but Alicia refused to stand in the very long line when we got back there. Mean daughter. Note: MK is ALWAYS crowded on Saturday, even after a hurricane. Heard it wasn't bad on Friday, though!

Alicia starts school tomorrow. Guess I'd better go get the whip so I can stand over her and makes sure she's ready. She needs to unpack first. We kind of collapsed on the sofa last night after we got home. Missed most of the US Women's gymnastic performance, but saw China's! Our cat was very happy to see us, and spent the night moving from one lap to the other.

:Pinkbounc :bounce: Diana!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I am sooo glad you made it home! I honestly do think even though you were at WDW, it must have been miserable not to get home when you wanted to. So glad you made it.
And no big deal about the magnet.
I can't even picture everything all a mess like that, how awful.

We'll be okay with the fire that's burning. It's a ways away from us. But still burning really hot this a.m. You can tell by the smoke clouds if they're bad or if they are going down. This one's bad.
I won't start freaking out until one gets close to the house. Then I don't know what I'll do. I had alway planned to rescue the photo albums first (after the kids, that is). I keep them all in one cabinet in my bedroom, so that all I would have to do is toss them on the bedspread, fold it up, and take it out the back patio. But we have so many now, I don't think I could even drag them out. Just hoping I never have to do that.

Anyway....I think we are all very relieved that you're home. Did Alicia's school start today? Was she wanting to get back, or hoping she didn't have to?
At least it sounds like you had some good fun, and got a chance to do more there than the rest of us!

Take care, relax...have a nice day!!!!

Stacey

Hi Stacey! Crosspost!

I think Alicia is excited, but right now she's on her computer. She hasn't even called her friends to check schedules (or washed her hair). Is Jordan back at school yet, or is it jump day? I have to call this afternoon to check on a schedule change request. Alicia's assigned elective was not on her list at all.

I have so many things to do. I'd rather stay here and play Disney!
